A spacious and attractive lodge with some lovely countryside views and very conveniently located for access to all the delights of Cornwall. Beautifully finished and equipped with 42" plasma screen TV, DVD player, PlayStation 2 and CD player, there is something for everyone at Cedar Lodge, which has been furnished and decorated to provide a stylish and contemporary space with a wonderfully relaxing feel. It is 15 minutes' drive to the golden beaches of the North Coast, the gourmet delights of Padstow where you will find Rick Stein's Seafood restaurant and also to Watergate Bay which is host to Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant.

This property is ideally located for exploring the whole of Cornwall being only 10 minutes' drive from the A30 so a trip to Tate St Ives is only an hour away and the Eden Project about 25 minutes. The unspoilt market town of St Columb is only just over 2 miles and Cedar Lodge is only a 7 mile car/taxi ride from Padstow, 8 miles from Newquay and about 5 miles from Wadebridge.

The amazing Flow Rider surfing wave is on site and can be booked by the hour, and if you are feeling really energetic why not start off with a game of tennis - rackets are offered for hire at reception - while the children amuse themselves in the shipwreck playground close by. After a long day sightseeing or enjoying one of the many beaches in the area, why not book yourselves in for a treatment at the Spa and round the day off in the clubhouse bar and restaurant

The Cornwall region

St Columb and Retallack

St Columb is a civil parish and town in Cornwall. Approximately seven miles away from Wadebridge and six miles east of Newquay, St Columb is situated in mid-Cornwall, about 5 miles inland from the north coast. The parish covers an area of about 20 square miles, most of which is used for farming.

Twice a year the town plays host to "hurling", a medieval game once common throughout Cornwall but now only played in St Columb and St Ives. It is considered by many to be Cornwall's county game, along with Cornish wrestling. It is played on Shrove Tuesday and then again on the Saturday eleven days later. The game involves two teams of several hundred people who endeavour to carry a silver ball made of apple wood to goals set two miles apart, the objective of the game is to control its possession - it really is a 'must see'.
