Le Goludic
About the home
Le Goludic is a country cottage in the Breton countryside offering a relaxing holiday at any time of the year for two to four discerning people. Whether sitting with a glass of wine by the 24-foot swimming pool in the summer sun, or in front of the blazing logburner in winter, you can enjoy uninterrupted peace and seclusion only a short flight from almost anywhere in the UK, or less than two hours’ drive from the ferry at St Malô.
Le Goludic is 30 minutes from Vannes and the Gulf of Morbihan. Within easy reach are the historic towns of Josselin and Pontivy, the standing stones and beaches of Carnac and the Quiberon peninsula, and the forts, forests and lakes of legendary Brocéliande (land of King Arthur). Close by is the charming village of Réguiny, offering a supermarket (even open on Sunday mornings!), 24hr filling station, two bakeries, three restaurants, two banks, a post office, three bars, and a swimming pool complex by the pretty village fishing/boating lake.

Further details indoors:
Created from one end of their 100-year-old stone longère home by Richard and Amanda Dalglish, the gîte has been furnished and equipped to a high standard to provide pretty double and twin bedrooms and a luxury modern shower room upstairs, while the ground floor offers a traditional oak-beamed Breton living room with extensive fitted kitchen, massive dining table and comfortable leather armchairs and sofa grouped round the Villager woodburner . There is satellite TV with UK television and radio channels and a library of books, CDs, DVDs and board games. French windows lead to the garden terrace at the rear, a stable door leads to the front garden terrace, the swimming pool and the paved walkways to the secure private car park. There are views in every direction over farmland and countryside and over the extensive grounds, and the peace is only intruded upon by birdlife and the occasional tractor engine in nearby farms.
Further details outdoors:
Set in more than an acre of private lawns and orchard, Le Goludic has panoramic views in all directions. In spring, summer and autumn, the clean air and unobstructed southerly aspect make the most of the warm South Breton sunshine, while the hill-top position and spreading apple-trees provide breezes and shade to relieve the afternoon heat. Tables and chairs placed around the terraces and grounds offer a choice of locations for a sunny breakfast, lazy lunch or serene supper in the open air – you are welcome to pick raspberries, apples, peaches, plums, cherries, hazelnuts or walnuts in season.
Rich with wildlife, the garden attracts a wide variety of birds in both summer and winter. Sightings of birds of prey such as owls, honey-buzzards, kestrels and hawks are common. In addition to the farmland birds that you might expect, there is a resident green woodpecker and the occasional visit from the amazing, rare hoopoe. Wild hares venture close to the window to raid the flower beds, red squirrels compete with us to eat the hazel-nuts and sweet chestnuts, while the garden attracts a variety of butterflies, moths and other insect life on which the birds can thrive.
Further details
The relatively steep staircase may provide difficulties for the infirm or toddlers – a stair gate is available. Children are welcome, but little garden play equipment is provided and the extensive grounds may present natural hazards for unsupervised children. We can accommodate 1 extra child in the gite on a single mattress in the double bedroom at a cost of £45 per week. There is no extra charge for babies sleeping in travel cots, but no linen is provided for the cot; we can provide 1 cot free of charge. Limited WiFi internet access is available for email and information purposes, but not for high volume entertainment use e.g. streaming video. UK free-to-air TV and radio available. Smoking is permitted outside the property.
Conditions
Changeovers are normally on Saturdays (although during off peak periods we may be able to accommodate start dates on other days) During peak periods we do accept arrivals and departures on other days providing full Saturday - Saturday weeks are booked. Please note that smokers are welcome to smoke outside the house.

"Enjoyed a lovely break over Christmas and New Year, lots to see and do even in the middle of winter. House was really warm and and super cosy with the wood burning stove. Lots of hot water as well, which with a young family was great. Richard and Amanda were the perfect hosts and went out of their way to make sure we had fantastic stay. Planning our return trip already" Tom + Libby and Calvin Jan 2010"

"Thank you both for a fantastic and very enjoyable stay at Le Goludic. The gite is lovely, decorated superbly, with everything that we needed to have a great holiday. We will definitely be recommending it to any friends and family looking for a relaxing French holiday retreat. We found Reguiny to be a perfect destination offering us the best of both worlds - peace and quiet in the country, with a choice of great restaurants a short drive away in Josselin. "
