Home description
Il Mulino di Ferraia is a romantically restored stone 15th century ex-watermill in an idyllic peaceful setting in the heart of the Tuscan countryside. The stones which once ground the neighbouring farmers' grain, while now dormant, are testimony to its place in local history. Alongside the mill, through the garden, the river Resco runs at a soothing trickle in the the Summer making the perfect backdrop to the birdsong, the visiting kingfishers, herons and otters, nightingales and the myriad shimmering fireflies on early summer sultry evenings.
Inside, the original wood beam ceilings, terracotta floors and four log burning fireplaces in three cosy lounges provide the backdrop to antique furnishings, paintings and rugs and soft enveloping sofas which invite guests to sink into to read a book, listen to music, and to think...or not! In the autumn and winter months with the log fires roaring, soft lighting and candlelit dinners and breakfasts in different settings, the house takes on a very special atmosphere. Our house motto is "Cucinare è Voler Bene" - To Cook is To Love". A shared passion for good home-made Tuscan food, is welcomed. Romantic, candlelit intimate settings go without saying.
