Northern England region

Swaledale is perhaps the most scenic of the Yorkshire Dales and REETH is often called the capital. A village of approx 500 population. It is built around a huge sloping village green and is surrounded by the hills. Chose walking or cycling, easy or strenuous, motor along the winding roads or just sit and let the world go by. The village is surrounded by open spaces inhabited mainly by sheep and other wild life. The pace is slow and folks are pleased to have a chat.

You can buy all the groceries you need in the village, select where to eat out, have a take away from one of the pubs or prepare your own meal. All very relaxed.

A fish and chip van visits most Friday teatimes, handy if you have just arrived.

We have a Post Office, Ice cream parlour, gift shops, craft shops, baker and a small market most Friday's.

Sunday afternoon in summer entertainment is often provided by local Brass Bands, including Reeth's own band.

The agricultural show in on August Bank Holiday Monday.

Bonfire night is a good event and attracts many folk, there are fireworks , a fire and refreshments.

Reeth

Mountain bikes , with or without instruction, can be hired at the Bike Shop at Fremington. They also serve fantastic snacks and drinks. Richmond and Leyburn are each approx 10 miles away and are both worth a visit. Hawes is a bustling village at the head of Wensleydale .Barnard castle is a little further

There is lots to see and visit whatever your interest.
