Two crops in a region marked by the Roman settlement and hit hard by the religious wars, the war of Catharism Camisards. The landscapes of the Languedoc-Roussillon are multiple scrub Provencal massive ancient gorges and to the north of wilderness. Languedoc-Roussillon, it is the "other midi", characterized by a province sunshine record that bewitched many painters.

The Pyrenees are expressed here in majesty riddled with lakes, granite peaks (Carlit, 2 921m, Puygmal, 2 910m) have shapes smoothed, planed by ancient glaciers.

In Roussillon, Pyrenees valleys change orientation and open with Mediterranean influences. Sun and light penetrate the heart of the mountain, fostering the emergence of a southern vegetation (lemon, cork oaks and oleander). From both sides of the upper Aude, Pyrenees still scrambling landscapes.

In the background: the lagoon ponds (Canet, Leucate, Bages and Sigean, Thau, Maugio, Vacarès).

Along the coast of Languedoc-Roussillon recites a string of resorts. Emblematic of this coast, La Grande-Motte marks the border with the Petite Camargue. The mountain rivers created alluvial plains colonized by the vine (valleys of the Aude, Hérault, Lez, the Vidour). Almond orchards, cherry and peach crisscross the fertile valleys of the Tet or Tech. On the shores of the Orb, orange bask in the sun. Agly to the Gardon, olive reminder that the Languedoc-Roussillon Provence with cousin.
