Villa Antea
About the home
Villa Antea is a romantic 22-square-meter (about 237 square feet) studio
apartment which sleeps two people. It features a wonderful terrace overlooking
the coast and the seascape plus a small shared garden. It is 1.5 km (about 1
mile) away from the center of Ravello, 6 km (about 3.7 miles) from Amalfi, the
beach, and the sea. It is equipped with air-conditioning.
There is one double bedroom, a bathroom with shower, a small kitchen, and a
private terrace.
The place
Villa Antea is part of a house built attached to a rocky spur by the sea, at 300
meters (about 984 feet) of altitude above sea level, a place where the city of
Ravello stands. From every angle you will be able to enjoy the fascinating
panorama of the Amalfi Coast and the sea. The landscape is actually considered
one of the most beautiful in the world, and it has rendered Ravello famous
worldwide as the city “suspended between the sky and the sea”.
The panorama which has fascinated musicians and poets also enchanted Richard
Wagner, who took inspiration from the place to compose the immortal songs of 'Parsifal'.
The panorama, along with the historical beauties, cultural and musical events
have attracted, and it still does, renown characters as Greta Garbo, Jackeline
Kennedy, Hilary Clinton, among others.
Staying at Villa Antea will grant you the privilege of standing before beauty
every single moment of your vacation, from morning time, when you wake up and
the sun rises behind the contours of the Lattari mountains and lights the sea,
until nightfall, when the shimmering stars shine above and the sea reflects the
moon.
The house and the terrace
Villa Antea is an isolated house surrounded by olive groves and lemon trees. You
can reach it after running 1.5 km (about 1 mile) on a not-busy road from the
center of Ravello. It is a road which connects villas and countryside houses
spread amidst lemon trees on the slope of the hill.
Once at the access gate to the property, stop for a while, look around, and take
a deep breath: the air is clean and lemon-scented, and you will already be able
to feast your eyes on the breathtaking scenery consisting of mountains and the
sea.
You will soon realize how worthy it is to climb down the 140-step stairway which
leads you to the house.
The house is two-storey high, and it has terraces and gardens facing the sun and
the sea. One floor has been divided in two small and similar vacation apartments
placed one next to the other, each one featuring its own private terrace. The
guests of the apartments share another terrace, which is 50 square meters (about
538 square feet) large, and a small garden.
The garden is right below the apartment. It is filled with flowers and lemons,
and you can reach it from the terrace after climbing down a few-step staircase.
You will have a wonderful view of the sea from the garden as well.
The second floor of the house is reserved to its proprietors, who live in the
place and are always at your disposal with all their discretion whenever you
need.
You can enter Villa Antea from the terrace. In your private terrace, about 10
square meters (about 108 square feet) large, you will find a table with chairs,
umbrellas, and deck chairs. A large patio door will enable you to reach the
studio apartment. Once in the room, you will notice how incredible is the view
of the coast and the sea even if you're lying on the bed. The room is furnished
with a comfortable double divan bed. From the room you can reach the bathroom
with shower and the kitchen. The kitchen is small but lovely. You will find a
four-burner stove and a fridge with freezer. A folding table with two chairs
completes the whole furnishing. There is also a washing machine in the bathroom.
The swimming pool
While at Villa Antea, if you feel like going for a swim, you can enjoy an
amazing pay swimming- pool which is about 800 meters (2,625 feet) away, halfway
between the villa and the center of Ravello. The swimming-pool is located on a
large terracotta terrace high above the sea, and it boasts a wide view of the
coast and the seascape.
The swimming pools and the panorama merge in a breathtaking set. While lying in
the sun and surrounded by such beauty, you will feel as if in paradise.
The swimming pools open from half June to half September. They feature umbrellas,
deck chairs, and bar service.

and deck chairs.
Such captivating beach of limpid sea is suitable to be visited any period of the
year: it is a half-moon shaped beach enclosed in an amphitheater consisting of
rocky walls. The beach is shielded from the wind and also offers pleasant
temperatures, which render it perfect for sunbathing all year round.

historical villa where the famous Festival Internazionale della Musica Di
Ravello (Ravello Festival) is held every summer.

and all the other tourist and musical events held during the night. There will
be no reason for worrying about transportation matters.
In fact, during summer, the most beautiful concerts and events of Ravello take
place at night and outdoors, in the gardens (suspended between the sky and the
sea) of its most famous villas; all before the enchanting nocturnal panorama of
the sea.
Don't miss a chance to participate: beautiful music and fascinating places merge
into a chant of harmony and beauty which will forever linger within your heart.

The Campania region
Campania region is the beginning of the 'mezzogiorno'. Translating as the 'midday' the phrase evokes the sun-baked south. And Campania - with its ancient Greek and Roman towns, rumbling volcanoes and glittering blue coastline, at times evokes Classical Greece as much as modern Italy. You could be a million miles from bureaucratic and businesslike Milan.
Throughout much of its history Campania has been at the centre of Western Civilisation's most significant entities. The area was colonised by Ancient Greeks and was within Magna Græcia, until the Roman Republic began to dominate. During the Roman era the area was highly respected as a place of culture by the emperors, where it balanced Greco-Roman culture. The area had many duchies and principalities during the Middle Ages, in the hands of the Byzantine Empire and some Lombards.
It was under the Normans that the smaller independent states were brought together as part of a sizeable European kingdom, known as the Kingdom of Sicily, before the mainland broke away to form the Kingdom of Naples. It was during this period that especially elements of Spanish, French and Aragonese culture touched Campania. Later the area became the central part of the Two Sicilies under the Bourbons, until the Italian unification of 1860 when it became part of the new state Italy.
The capital city of Campania is Naples. Campania is rich in culture, especially in regards to gastronomy, music, architecture, archaeological and ancient sites such as Pompeii, Herculaneum and Paestum. The name of Campania itself is derived from Latin, as the Romans knew the region as Campania felix, which translates into English as "fortunate countryside". The rich natural sights of Campania make it highly important in the tourism industry, especially along the Amalfi Coast, Cilento Coast, Mount Vesuvius and the island of Capri.
