The Province of Ulster region

Donegal is situated in North West Ireland. It is an area of outstanding beauty with some of the most spectacular scenery anywhere. It has some of the best sandy beaches in Ireland. There are some fine golf courses in the area with at least 4 courses within 30 mins. drive from our holiday home. The large town of Letterkenny is a 15min. drive away. Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland`s second city, is a 40 min drive away. The historic town of Donegal is just over an hour`s drive.

Rathmullan is one of the few unspoilt villages in this area. Once a busy fishing port it is now a haven for boating. The sandy beach stretches for 2 kms. with a spectacular back-drop of woods. During the season there are various fishing festivals, music festivals and a great regatta held early August. There is a horse-riding stable at the edge of the village. The nearest large town,Letterkenny, is a15 min. drive while Derry City (U.K. City of culture 2013) is just a 35 min. drive.

"Wonderful location overlooking Lough Swilly"

Stayed at the end of August for 3 nights with husband, dog and grown up children. Ideal place for a few days of family time. Everything close by the house. Walked to beach, pub, restaurants, cafes and small supermarket. Very comfortable accommodation, well equipped. enclosed garden would be ideal for children or small dog.

I am delighted that you and your family had a pleasant stay in Alexander Terrace and hope to see you again.

"Lovely return visit"

Had another fab stay at this property. A real home from home experience. Beautiful views and surroundings. Will return for sure.

This house was everything we had hoped for. We were there for one week in august 2012 our family ages ranged from 4yrs to 55yrs & everyone loved it. The house is sits directly facing Lough Swilly & with two arm chairs at the windows of the master bedroom you could just relax all day. With off street parking & a gate with a large back garden the children could play safely & having a horse in the garden next door entertained them greatly. The house is spacious with plenty of room for everyone to have there own space while sharing. I would highly recommend this house to my family & friends & have already done so. If I had to find any fault it would be wifi access we had to go to the bar across the road for this.

I never write reviews about holidays, I usually just read other peoples comments and decide from that. In this case I am making an exception - Alexander Terrace was an amazing house, there where 10 of us staying, there was so much room with 3 bathrooms (very important for the girlies!) and a utility toilet. The house was spotlessly clean and lived up to our very high standards. Breakfast and evening meals where a doddle as there is so much room in the kitchen and dining areas for everyone to move around – thank God for the dishwasher! The house looks out to the beach it was so refreshing to wake each morning and see the sea, the back garden was spacious and we loved having the horse in the paddock next to us, I can safely say that was the best fed horse in Donegal that week! My only negative and it is very small would be the showers in the house, the middle shower was not very powerful and the shower on the top floor varied considerably in temperature but you soon got used to them so it wasn’t a huge problem, plus there was a bath if you are fussy….. Rathmullan itself is a lovely sleepy wee village, our ages ranged from 20 – 31 but luckily we weren’t there for the night life as there where only three bars to choose from in the village, although we tasted many a tipple in all 3 each night, our favourite bar was Paddy’s bar as this has sky sports and a pool table for the boring boys, each night we where lucky enough to be the only ones on that side of the bar so it was great craic! Rathmullan and the surrounding area is beautiful, I highly recommend a drive to Port Salon the views where breath taking….literally….caution if you don’t have a head for heights. The beach in Rathmullan is amazing with very fine sandy sand, you could easily walk for 3km when the tide is out it is very pretty and you will defiantly see a horse or two! The main thing that I noticed and liked about Rathmullan is the very friendly people, they would bend over backwards to help and how litter free the whole area is…..did not see one piece of rubbish lying around anywhere!! Credit to the local people. Overall we all enjoyed our stay at Rathmullan and we will defiantly be in contact with Martin to rent out his house again next year…epic…Thank-you Martin and your team!
