The South East England / Kent region
Kent has excellent coastline for all watersports, sailing and sea-fishing. There are a number of statley homes and places of interest such as the counties ancient castles at Dover, Deal and Walmer. The inland gentle picturesque countryside is ideal for walkers and cyclists, and has many waymarked cycle routes. There are areas of outstanding natural beauty, such as around the Elham valley. As well as the stunning countryside, enjoy the magnificent Cathedral, quaint streets and modern shopping facilities of the lovely historic towns and cities such as Canterbury.
Ramsgate area
Ramsgate has a great maritime history - the only Royal Harbour in England by the warrant of King George IV - and bang up to date, hosts the Powerboat and European Waterski championships in July. In the nearby marina are a selection of pavement cafes, bars and restaurants and the high street offers a modern supermarket, butchers and greengrocers for all your needs.
How to get there
Gatwick, London is around one and a half hours drive away and offers many domestic and international flights at very reasonable prices. Regular ferries run from the Netherlands to Ramsgate itself and Dover is less than 30 minutes drive with its excellent ferry connections with the continent.
