The Regency
About the home
The property was originally ten Regency Town houses built in 1820 and were later turned into a hotel for the School of English. In 2005 the hotel was sold and converted into apartments and are as you see them today.
Views of the sea can be seen from the lounge and bedroom with the high ceilings and French doors making the rooms feel light and airy. The apartment faces south and so has the sun on it all day, but leaves the interior still feeling cool due to the high ceilings.
There are two large double bedrooms one with en-suite, an open lounge, dining and kitchen area with direct access to the terraced gardens, where you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine under the parasol and sun chairs. (Quick 2 minute assembly required).
You can use both the front and rear entrances for access to walk to the town or just for a stroll along the promenade. If you don’t feel up to the 10 minute walk into the town there is a bus stop 2 minutes from the front entrance. There is ample unrestricted parking on the street at the front of the property, but is on a first come first served basis, however there is always space available on Royal Crescent.

This luxury self catering holiday apartment is situated on the West Cliff in Ramsgate, Kent . Raamsgate is a typical English seaside resort with Georgian terraces, ice-cram parlours, fish & chips and boating lake.
Just a little bit of Ramsgate history - The harbour was a chief embarkation point in the Napoleonic Wars, hence the Naval influence you will see around the harbour and within the structure of the buildings. The old Barracks may not have Officers in them, but a little bit of imagination and you can see the Captains returning from sea to their wives and children.
Jump forward a couple of hundred years and there is Ramsgate’s flotilla of ‘Little Ships’ that were heavily involved in ‘Operation Dynamo’ that helped evacuate the troops from the beaches of Dunkirk. Evidence of one of those ships, the ‘Sundowner’ is often seen in the harbour.
The Ramsgate / West Cliff, Ramsgate area
Ramsgate has the only Royal Harbour in the UK, granted by King George IV because he was made so welcome by the residents of Ramsgate. This can be seen by the quality of boats in the marina full of small boats to luxury yachts. Take advantage of the harbour by sitting outside one of the many cafes and wine bars and enjoy homemade cakes and snacks.
Ramsgate has some of the best beaches in the area and has been awarded a Blue Flag, a good indication of the cleanliness of the water and safety record.
The area is surrounded by stunning Victorian and Georgian architecture and is always a hive of activity. This is not a town with big shopping malls, but has fresh produce always available and a friendly community making you feel welcome and most importantly relaxed.
The Grange is 2 minutes away and was designed and lived in by Augustus Pugin. Evidence of Pugin and his sons architectural influence can be seen throughout Ramsgate.
For the more adventurous, Broadstairs is only a few miles away and is accessible through King George IV Park or if the tide is out you can walk along the beach. Viking Bay is probably the oldest seaside hotspot, with the Charles Dickens Museum, Bleak House and don’t forget the Punch & Judy on the beach.
Sandwich is home to 'Royal St. George’s Golf Course' and is one of the best in the world. On the 14 July 2011 the course will host the fourteenth British Open Championship. If you require accommodation for this event our holiday apartment is just a short drive away. Sandwich is an old market town and although cattle are no longer taken there to be sold there are many of the old 16th Century buildings still remaining. A Public Golf course available, boat hire on the river and the old Guild Hall is one not to miss.
Canterbury is about 15 miles away and has something for everyone, shopping, cathedrals, guided walks and restaurants. This is a very popular destination with students because of this medieval town steeped in history.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in a large and spacious apartment, all fixtures and fittings of the highest calibre, the sea views and harbour traffic were a delight to watch on a summers day. The location is superb 10 mins to the town centre. We would recommend this apartment to our friends and family and to anybody who wants a relaxing holiday in England. Steve and Judy Crawford |

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely apartment. Friendly helpful owners, ready to give advise and help with any issues. Ramsgate is ideal for a seaside holiday; walking distance along the beach from Broadstairs when the tide is out. Would recommend. Response: Thank you very much for your review, it's nice to know you enjoyed our apartment and Ramsgate |
