Perfect for exploring the vast sandy beaches at Guidel Plage or Carnac Plage, and the historic towns of Josselin, Auray, Pontivy or Vannes, to name but a few of the many architecturally rich towns of the region.
Once part of an old stone farmhouse, La Vigne "The Vine" has been immaculately restored, whilst retaining the character of the property with its beamed ceilings and granite fireplace. Finished to an exceptional standard with a well-equipped kitchen including an American style fridge-freezer with ice and water dispenser, that provides the comfort and space for those looking for a home from home experience.
Attention to detail continues upstairs, with a magnificent vaulted ceiling to bedroom 2 and walnut flooring.
Through thoughtful planning, La Vigne works equally well for families, couples or families and grandparents. Each room has a king-size double bed, a day-bed which doubles as a full size 3ft single bed. A cot can be provided and additional sleeping is available on the metal framed, leather double sofa-bed on the mezzanine.

The Brittany region
This part of Brittany is lucky enough to have many wonderful sandy beaches and historic towns. Josselin, Auray, Pontivy or Vannes,to name but a few of the many architecturally rich towns of the region.
Beaches: Port Louis a favourite with locals with an ancient fort fronting the beach is also ideal for water-sports.
As well as enjoying the beach at Guidel Plage, which is to the west of Lorient, the Sunday market, often combined with traditional dancing in high season, (once the church service has finished) makes for a good family day out.
Carnac has 5 beaches stretching over 2 1/2 km with a coastal path following this line.
Further a field, the beach at Cote Sauvage, near the Quiberon provides a very sheltered beach, making it ideal for families.
Boat trips can also be taken to visit nearby island off the Gulf of Morbihan
The beautiful Blavet Valley and surrounding area offers plenty to do and see. With numerous historic towns, Château, vast sandy beaches, water-sports, museums, churches and chapels, markets, and with an abundance of footpaths, including the many kilometres of towpath, the area provides something to do and see for everyone.
Quistinic is situated in southern Brittany between the historic towns of Pontivy and Carnac in the heavily-wooded valley of the river Blavet. Conveniently situated to enjoy both the beautiful countryside and beaches, 30 to 40 minutes away, and easily accessed from the motorway only 7 km away.
A comprehensive Infromation folder with numerous other suggestions of places to visit will be found in your gite, but the following will give you a flavour of what the area has to offer: alternatively, more information can be found on our own website.
Within 5km of Quistinic the beautiful 15th, 16th and 17th century thatched medieval village and working farm of Poul Fetan can be found.
Walking and cycling
The Blavet Valley is a walkers paradise, with its many footpaths, rural roads and canel-tow paths. We have a selection of bicycles, together with a baby-seat and a 3 bicycle car rack, which guests are welcome to use.
he river Blavet, which is famous for its fishing, with over 28 fishing areas in the vicinity, provides the opportunity for catching salmon, trout, carp and many course-fish species.
A number of golf courses are within easy reach (one being only a 10 mins drive away), all set in beautiful natural surroundings.
Canoeing/Kayaking and Sand Karting
The River Blavet is ideal for canoeing and kayaking. At Lochrist, there is a canoe centre which has mini rapids and obstacle courses, great fun for all the family.
Art & Festivals
Many festivals are held across Brittany throughout the summer, where one can hear local Celtic music being played, watch traditional Breton dance and partake of local food and drink. The following are just a very small sample:
Lorient Inter-Celtic festival (August). This is largest traditional music festival in Brittany which is held each year, for 10 days in Lorient.
Quistinic - Pardon Des Chevaux. This takes place annually, in the heart of Quistinic, at the end of July. A festival dedicated to celebrating the life of the horse, where the horses are blessed at a church service, followed by an all day long celebration when locals get together in true Breton style to enjoy themselves with music and a glass or two of cider.

"pleasure par excellence"
For the away-from-it-all French Breton experience this could not be bettered.
In an idyllic setting yet only 1mile from village shop and 10 minute drive from Medium sized town with larger shops ,Restaurants etc.
In my 73 yrs of life on this planet and having holidayed from USA to Africa I have not found better if you want Culture,Rural but with all home comforts and excellent amenities for the kids whatever the Weather.

"A really relaxing break in a beautiful child-friendly gite"
La Vigne is the most beautiful cottage I have ever stayed in, and it surpassed all my expectations. A very comfortable, immaculate and well equipped gite which was extremely child-friendly. Chris and Richard Irvine (the owners) had clearly gone out of their way to make sure the accommodation was able to meet our needs especially with young children. The playroom with the large range of toys was a huge hit with the kids!
Having the opportunity to order a welcome meal on the day of our arrival was a great idea and one that I would recommend. The food was really delicious and there was an extensive menu to choose from with individual needs catered for too. The complimentary welcome pack that Chris had organised with wine, cake etc was also well received!
The garden is very well kept and pretty and again child friendly with the play equipment. The location is typical of rural France, the locals were friendly and it was handy being near the quaint local village of Quistinic about 1km away where we got our daily baguettes from!
Despite having variable weather, we managed to get out every day and visit the local attractions (Pont Scorff Zoo, Josselin Castle, St Goustan, the aquarium in Vannes; I would really recommend a trip to Poul Fetan- a historic working village, very hands on and child friendly, as well a trip to Carnac Beach- a very clean and beautiful sandy beach).
All in all, we were so impressed with the gite and had such a relaxing break that we have already planned to come back again next year. Thank you Chris and Richard for the thought and effort you have gone into to make sure we had such a comfortable stay. We look forward to seeing you again next summer!!
