The Central Portugal region
Arrábida Natural Park is a natural park located on the northern shore of the Sado River estuary in Portugal. Founded in 1976 and covering 108 square kilometres (42 sq mi), it is officially under protection in the country. The park covers the Arrábida Hills, the Mediterranean-like vegetation and microclimate of which resemble Adriatic locations such as Dalmatia. The highest point in the park is the Serra da Arrábida at an elevation of 499 metres. Two of the park's beaches—Portinho da Arrábida and Figueirinha—are popular among the locals. The Sado Estuary Nature Reserve in Setubal the inner part of the estuary is bordered by rice-fields and reedbeds, whereas the north-western limits are densely populated and the south-western parts are sheltered from the open sea by a sandbar. Ramsar Site and a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA), largely on account of the 300-plus species of vertebrate recorded here.It is a special place for birdwatching, including white storks, herons and flamingos. The fish species include white bream, grey mullet, skate, sole and the Lusitanian toadfish. Bottle-nosed dolphins in their natural habitat can be seen and there is an important colony of them in the River Sado.
Quinta do Anjo
We recommend the cultural and historic attractions of the area, including Palmela and Setúbal castles, the charming village of Azeitão, the Bacalhôa Palace, its vineyards and winery, plus the José Maria da Fonseca winery, Convento da Arrábida, Church of St Lorenço, the Maritime Museum, Quinta Velha cheese museum. We had an excellent stay in the house of Mandy and Phillipe. Altough we had to get used to the kind and caring attitude of those people. Ours is yours is what they told us, please use everything you want. Wonderfull. the way they live is the way all the people should live on this planet and there would be peace on earth finaly. The love of animals is one of the main concerns of Mandy. Please take good care of the cats and make sure that they dont mess up your garden........ and furniture :-)
We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay, it was a pleasure to have met you.

"Lovely place, lovely people - the owners have created a beautiful environment there and are fantastic hosts"
Wonderful location about 30 mins drive from Lisbon airport. Mandy and her husband have created an oasis, full of peace and love. They were so welcoming, and went out of their way to help if they could. I ate breakfast and dinner there, much to my joy - Mandy is a fantastic cook - and they are wonderful hosts. They invite you in to their world, but will also totally respect your need for quiet if that's what you want.
I highly recommend this place, and I will go back myself in a heartbeat if I have the opportunity.
Thank you were a lovely guest and we really enjoyed having you come and stay, it would be so nice to have you come and stay again, then we could carry on with our discussions. A perfect guest.Highly recommended.
