The Western Australia / Perth Metro Area
Perth, WA's capital city, is just a 35 minute drive from 5 Hall Road, less by train. The Perth area is a fabulous tourist spot for people of all ages and tastes. The people of WA are very proud of the beauty of the city. I have travelled extensively in Asia, Europe and the US and have never found a city quite so outstanding. There are four key features that make it so fabulous. The wide, clean Swan river that winds its way between Perth and Fremantle is a local sports field. Sailing, skiing, cruising, jet skis and ferries give it a low level panorama. Kings Park overlooks the city and the Swan. This huge area of natural bush right in the city centre gives a an amazing outlook and incredible natural retreat. The river foreshore on both sides has been preserved with parks and gardens for public use and separate the modern city from the river. The city itself has been well developed so that historic convict built buildings blend into the high rise scene.
For the young there are various night life areas. In the centre of Perth there is Northbridge. A strip of nightclubs, bars and restaurants. In the early evening it’s great for families to sit out at the restaurants and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere as the evening starts for the young adults. Later the youngsters take over and the area becomes one huge nightclub. In Fremantle there is the coffee strip. This has a vital atmosphere day and night.
There are many beach areas along Perth’s 100km coastline that offer great ocean entertainment backed by restaurants, bubs and other social activities. Mandurah, Rockingham, Fremantle, Cottesloe, City Beach, Scarborough, Hillaries Marina, Mindarie Marina, Quinns Rocks, Yanchep and Two Rocks Marina are all beach resort areas with something different to offer.
For those that like the country side there are many areas within a short distance of Quinns Rocks. Yanchep National Park, a reserve from Joondalup all the way to Yanchep and Nowergup lake. Further afield, yet still within an hours drive of Perth, there are many forest and lake areas. The Perth Hills has hours of country drives and walks. Visit historic towns like Toodyay and York and take in their local charms, scenic walks and attractions.
If you want to tour there is an amazing array of places to visit. Forrests with huge trees, second tallest in the world and include special walks in the tree canopies, the incredible coastline of Albany varying from steep cliffs with unusual rock formations, to sandy beaches, surf beaches of Yallingup with some of the largest waves in the world, protected beaches suitable for young children at Busselton, huge limestone caves in various locations along ‘Caves Road’ in the south west, unusual rock formations at the Pinnacles North of Perth and much, much more.
For those wanting some culture the Perth/Fremantle area has theatres, concert halls, historic buildings, restaurants, an incredibly tranquil zoo, art galleries and museums.
And for those that enjoy wine there is the extensive winery area around Margret river. Blended amongst the crafts industry are some of the world best vineyards. Good wine and good prices. But if the three hour drive to Margaret River is too much there is the Swan river wineries. Just 30 minutes from Perth there are many restaurants, wineries, pubs, craft shops and other tourist attractions in this peaceful river side country area. A second benefit is that throughout the summer the wineries host concerts and other events.
Want more? Then travel to the rugged outback, visit the historic gold fields that made WA the wealthiest state in WA in the 1890’s. Still further afield see the reef at Coral Bay, better than the barrier reef as you can swim to it.
Western Australia is the largest and fastest growing state in Australia. Its widespread mineral resources means that while the world has suffered a recession WA has sailed on. WA has a history of achieving great things. From the installation of a 600km pipe line, rail line and electricity to feed the goldfields in the 1890’s to the huge rail lines, ports and road to support the iron ore industry of late 1900’s. Today there is still gold, still iron ore and now huge gas projects. Is it any wonder that WA is called the state of excitement?
Quinns Rocks / Quinns Beach area
The house is in “Old Quinns”, a beach holiday area that developed in the sixties with people from Perth’s wealthy suburbs coming up to their weekenders and holiday fishing shacks. In recent times Quinns Rock has been surrounded by Perth’s northern coastal growth. This growth has added many facilities without destroying the Quinns old time laid back charm and unique character. The house is close many facilities in the area. The beach is just 50 metres from the front door with a grassed reserve opposite our road. The beach has comfort amenities.
Just around the corner on Ocean Drive is a popular family cafe. Eat in, take you fish and chips to the alfresco area or down to the beach. Any way, it’s a great value meal with fabulous ocean views. The cafe is conveniently located next to a bottle shop that will supply the perfect wine or beer or your take away needs.

Further details indoors: Whatever you do for outings you will want a comfortable, relaxed house where there is something for everyone. The master bedroom is tastefully decorated. It has a comfortable queen bed, TV and outlook over the front garden. The lounge is a great retreat with 50 ins HD TV and DVD/VHS player and extensive DVD and VHS library. Have an evening in at the movies. The large games room has a bar where you can sit around and watch those having fun on the bar billiards and table football tables. Combined with the outdoor BBQ area this is where you can invite those Perth folk you have met while on holiday.
Further details outdoors: If your coming to Perth for a holiday you'll know that we get hot summers. A great reason for being close to the beach. Go for a swim and walk home in your bathers for a shower. No big hill climbs to exhaust you. No need to get dressed for a long walk. No need to drive and get the car full of sand. Even if you stay home you'll get the benefit of the "Fremantle doctor", the cooling wind that comes through most afternoons. While the winds are great for all those ocean sports they can make outdoor living difficult. That's why the BBQ area is located in the back garden, protected from winds. It is also a shady spot due to a couple of large trees.
There is a garage where you can park the car and protect it from the salt spray. The driveway is short but steep making it difficult for wheelchairs. You could overcome this by driving up and the property has a low entry step. However there are no special provisions for disabled.
