This spacious 3-bedroom self-catering holiday home sleeps 6 and is ideal for families, couples or groups looking for a relaxing vacation or activity/skiing break in the south of France.
The house is in a quiet street near the centre of town. It has a double bedroom, family room and a single, plus a lounge/diner, well-equipped separate kitchen with washing machine, and bathroom with shower. It also has a sun terrace and a pretty courtyard garden with a brick-built barbecue. The garden and terrace are fully enclosed and safe for children and well-behaved pets. The house is cosy in winter with double glazing, electric shutters and gas heating.
The house is just a couple of minutes' walk from restaurants, bars and shops. There is plenty of parking, space to store bicycles securely, and easy access to the one-euro trains and buses for Carcassonne and Perpignan. There are lakes and hiking trails, and spectacular Cathar castles nearby. The nearest ski station is 35 km away.
For larger groups or mobility-impaired guests, there is an additional ground-floor bedsitting room with ensuite bathroom and separate sun-terrace. This can be rented at an additional cost by prior arrangement. Short lets (minimum 3 nights) are available, and we offer reduced rates for long lets.
Quillan is a lovely town on the River Aude, surrounded by mountains. There is a wide range of activities on the river in Summer, including rafting and kayaking, and nearby there is horse trekking, rock climbing, wine tasting, high ropes, many hiking routes of all lengths and difficulties - enough to keep the whole family busy!
Quillan also hosts a jazz weekend and guitar festival - and the Tour de France passes through the area in most years. If you want to explore the beautiful scenery and long historical heritage of the local area, Quillan is a good base. The town is on the Cathar Way; the medieval castles at Puivert, Montségur, Puylaurens and Queribus are not far away. There are markets in Quillan twice a week offering local produce, crafts, and wines. The sea near Perpignan is 90 minutes' drive from Quillan, or an easy trip by public transport, and the nearest ski station is around 30 minutes' drive.
The house comes with a welcome grocery pack of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, bread, jam, butter, orange juice, cereal, wine, oil, shampoo, shower gel, and washing up liquid.
Also detergent and fabric softener for the washing machine.
On street parking is available at the front of the house, and off road paring is 20 metres down the street.
Smoking is allowed outside, and an ashtray is provided.

The Languedoc-Roussillon region
The Languedoc, in the foothills of the Pyrenees, is one of the sunniest regions of France, with over 200 days of sunshine a year. Popular with hikers, cyclists and watersports enthusiasts, it is close to the mountains for seasonal skiing and to the Mediterranean. With its organic vineyards, Cathar castles, pretty villages, and colourful local markets it offers something for everyone.
Quillan is a pretty town on the River Aude. It has a wide range of restaurants and local shops, 2 supermarkets, and a twice weekly market.
There is an open-air swimming pool which is open over the summer, a gym, theatre, cinema and an active cultural life particularly during the summer - a highlight is the Folk Festival at the end of July - a week long celebration of music from around the world. The Tour de France passes nearby in most years.

"Comfortable, Spacious living with a great welcome"
We booked this centrally sutuated placed mid terraced house for an extended stay in Feb/March 2014, our intention to survey the area with a view to buying a house in this general area.
Close to the market, shops , restaurants and bars, the house is conveniently placed in a quiet street, the house is spacious with 3 good sized bedrooms, lots of storage space, comfortable beds, shower/toilet, on the 2nd floor.
On the ground floor a halllway, sitting/dining room and kitchen, spacious enough for us, the central heating , satalite TV, and good quality fast WiFi and electric ooperated shutters on all windows were useful as was the enclosed, light and airy rear yard, chairs/table and built in Bar-b-Que which is sunny for part of the day, whilst for the remainder the front garden enjoys sun for the rest of the day.
During the whole of our stay we were in contact with the owners who did everything to make our stay comfortable, exampled by a power failure which occurred just prior to our arrival, they did everything to reduce impact on us and quickly remedied the fault.
We were also allowed to take our family pet.
We would reccommend this house and owner for your stay.

It's good to hear that you liked the house and the surroundings, and appreciated the facilities provided. I'm sorry about the shade in the rear courtyard garden in the mornings - in the summer season this is much appreciated, but I can imagine that in February/March it's less of an advantage! However, we've now bought a really comfortable patio set of sofa and arm-chairs for the front terrace so that people can enjoy the morning sun as well - or the shade on hot summer afternoons.

"Great location, lovely house, and a beautiful town."
Myself and my partner had a wonderful stay the house, it was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. The house is perfectly positioned for everything you could need, It is a 2 minute walk to the train/bus station. The shops are close by and there are lots of places to have a nice evening out. The manager, Ruth, was very welcoming and had lots of suggestions for attractions in the area. Thank you for such a lovely holiday!
