About the home

Chez Vous is a cosy accessable apartment ideal for a family. The area is fantastic for days out with canoeing, horse riding, lake swimming and stunning walks all within easy reach. Nearby there are quaint villages and vine yards as well as the ancient Cathare Castles and the medieveal city at Carcasonne to explore.The mediterranean and beaches are only an hour and ten minutes away. The apartment is just off the main square where evening concerts are held throughout the summer. Within 5 minutes walk there is a selection of shops,restaurants and bars.

The apartment is wonderfully french in its layout with an open plan cooking, dining and living area it is very comfortable and comes with a selection of Disney videos/DVDs to help little ones relax at the end of a tiring but fun day. Once in the children are in bed the parents can sit back and enjoy sampling the locally produced wines.

Further details outdoors:
The apartment benefits from being central so that your morning croissant or coffee is only a couple of minutes away, the locally run bars and restaurants are all within walking distance so once settled for the evening the car keys can be put away. On Wednesdays there is a fruit and veg market for local produce held in the square (30 metres away) with the rest of the market spread through the town. Evening markets are held on Thursdays and Saturdays. Throughout the summer many concerts are held in the nearby square and there is a music festival in August for details www.ville-quillan.fr. Quillan can be quite lively in the summer months.

In south west france Aude benefits from hot summers with plenty of sunshine hours, ideal for the local vineyards. It is the gateway to the Pyrenennes so any drive through the uncrowded countryside is accommpannied by spectacular views. The medieveal towns of Mirepoix and Carcasonne are steeped in history as are the many castles of the Cathares including the truly spectacular Mont Segur. www.aude-en-pyrenees.fr

The Quillan area

Explore
The nearby vineyards and wineries together with quaint villages and a rich history provide innumerable pleasures to explore. For those who like the outdoors there is plenty to do here with cycling, hiking and white water rafting to name a few. A 15 minute drive away is the man made lake and beach at Puivert with its Buvette providing refreshments and evening meals. The ski fields of Andorra and the French mountains are a day trip fantastic in winter but just as breathtaking in summer. Quillan is on the rail line (direct link to Carcassone - 45 minutes) . This area is so beautiful and there is so much to do, you will want to stay for months!

Quillan is in a beautiful valley with towering mountains and spectacular gorges close by. The town is a great central location with easy access to all the area has to offer, and only an hour and ten minutes to the Mediterranean. Spain is just to the south

For winter sports enthusiasts there are 6 ski resorts within 50km. You can ski all day then return in the evening to an authentic French village and relax glass of wine in hand, music playing, reliving the day’s thrills and spills on the slopes. Further afield are Ax-les-Thermes and Andorra’s party town, Pas de la Cosa or the beautiful Soleu.

Quillan is approxiamately 50 minutes from Carcasonne Airport which is served by Ryanair from Stansted,East Midlands, Glasgow,Leeds, Liverpool and Brussels or alternatively Perpignan which is an hour away and served by Ryanair from Stansted. Both airports have car hire facilities. As part of a driving holiday Quillan is an ideal place to start exploring the area.
