The Luzon region
Situated in the easternmost part of the Philippines, Camarines Sur is the largest among the six Bicol provinces and is blessed with unexplored natural wonders. The beauty and wild charm of Caramoan has been a well-kept secret for centuries among nature lovers and adventure seekers, but it was a secret that could not be kept for long. International film crews scouting for new and exotic locations were impressed with the pristine beaches and the unspoiled, natural setting of the place, and the word spread around quickly.
To date, six international editions of the widely successful “Survivor” series franchises have filmed in Caramoan – France, Israel, Bulgaria, Serbia, Sweden, and the U.S. This has made Caramoan probably the most internationally acclaimed destination in the Philippines.
The rapid growth in tourism has made Caramoan the third top destination in the country, after the major cities of Manila and Cebu. What was once a fourth class fishing village has surpassed Boracay as the Philippines' hottest travel spot, with 83% more tourists.
Come to Caramoan and discover the Philippines' best kept secret. With so much to offer, you may never want to leave.
The scenic tropical playground of Lahuy makes for a memorable experience for just about anyone. Ideal for family vacations, company outings or romantic getaways, the Island is the perfect place to take a break from the stresses of urban living so you can really get away from it all. Here, activities abound, not limited to the time of day. Begin your adventure with an early morning trek through the mountain's winding trails. Hike through the lush forests. Follow the birds as they gracefully flit from tree to tree. Then, take a moment to breathe in the panoramic view of the peninsula from the top. Climbing enthusiasts can scale rocky cliffs. At the beach, play an exciting game of volleyball, then go for a relaxing swim in the crystal clear waters. Get the tan you've always wanted, or take a leisurely stroll along the white, sandy shoreline. As evening approaches, bask in the warmth of the setting sun. However, the experience doesn't stop there. For the night, consider pitching up a tent in a quiet piece of paradise you can claim as your own. Gather around a campfire and build camaraderie with songs and stories. You will probably agree that stars are best seen on a clear, peaceful night. Here at Hacienda Lahuy, they don't come any brighter. A hired boat will fetch you in the morning. What more could you ask for?
For decades this immaculate paradise has gone untouched, allowing the local flora and fauna to flourish. Whether on land or at sea, animal lovers will be astounded by the sheer abundance of local wildlife. Our coral reefs have the richest and widest variety of marine life. The waters abound with swarms of tropical aquarium fish like clownfish, round batfish, parrotfish, and yellowfish tunas to name a few. In shallows parts of the water (10-50 ft. deep) are dense, elaborate forests of stag horn corals which house these complex ecosystems and more. Marine biologists agree that the diversity here surpasses those of bigger reefs around the world. Our coral reefs offer scuba divers an experience that will not soon be forgotten. The underwater photographer will have a heyday among feather stars, vibrant coral gardens and schools of tropical aquarium fish. At the other end of the spectrum, those who choose to spend their day on dry land will not be disappointed. All around the Island, the keen observer will find dozens of tropical bird species who have taken up nests in the vicinity. This is because at Hacienda Lahuy, hunting or poaching of any kind is forbidden, allowing the birds to proliferate and call the place their home.
Imagine a place where time stands still and witness the beauty of nature at its finest. It is a whole world in itself. And it can be yours.
