The Costa Blanca/Valencia region
This area has some of the best beaches on the Costa Blanca with miles and miles of sandy beaches, beautiful countryside with mountains, beautiful valleys with orange and lemon groves, vineyards, almond , pomegranate and fig trees, traditional Spanish villages, hot thermal baths. Places of interest include the historic cities of Cartagena, Orihuela and Valencia; also the beautiful historic mountain village of Guadalest, the salt lakes. Lots of Spanish Fiestas, especially in the summer months with Historical and Religious Processions with very colourful historical costumes, Flamenco Dancing displays. In spring there are beautiful almond tree blossoms in the valleys painting the whole place pink and white. Very mild winters with day temperatures rarely dropping below 15 degrees C. and many days over 20 degrees. It is not too cold to swim outside in unheated swimming pools or the sea until end November/early December and then again as from March.
Not far from Quesada is Benidorm with the well-known Benidorm Palace offering high-class cabaret shows including 4-course dinner and wine at very reasonable cost - great for an adult night out. For the children (and adults too) there is Terra Mitica Amusement Park (the best I have ever been too), a Dolphinerium and huge Water Park; all within 45 min. drive from Quesada.
The well-known seaside towns of Torrevieja and Guardamar are only a 10 min. drive from Quesada.
Spanish Fiestas with historical processions like the Moors and Christians, Flamenco shows, Bowling, Aqua Park, Golf, Horse Riding, Cycling, mountain walking, street markets and medieval markets.
Lots of restaurants with British and Spanish menus, Chinese and Indian restaurant, bars incl. an Irish bar, a variety of shops and supermarkets.
