The Island of Malta region

Malta – offers the perfect holiday destination for all kinds of people, whether a Family Holiday, Romantic Getaway a leisure or business trip. Weather is some of the best in terms of sunshine you will find in the Mediterranean in given its most southerly geographical position. In brief summery Malta offers excitement in Water Sports, Scuba Diving, Exotic Locations, Historical Prevalence, Superb Beaches, excellent food and lots of varied Entertainment to please all kinds of taste.
Malta – the very name conjures up thoughts of the George Cross and enough historical sights to keep you busy for a month, however there’s so much more to this little beauty than a fascinating past. These days you’re just as likely to hear about its film locations and nightlife as you are its history and culture. Hollywood epics such as Troy, Gladiator and Alexander were all filmed on the island’s sunny shores.
And world famous artist such as Sting, Brian Adams, Tom Jones have graced Malta. But though Malta’s image is changing fast, its breathtaking beauty and English speaking locals remains one of the key ingredients that draws people back year after year. Wherever you go, the island’s eye-popping scenery provides a sigh-inducing backdrop.
And as for all that history, with so much of the past still visible today, there’s no wonder it’s known as an open-air museum. Travel back in time to discover Malta’s mysterious prehistory. Retrace the footsteps of St Paul. Or see where the Knights of St John defended Christendom. But Malta is no regular museum. Here life is lived to the full, so be prepared to get stuck into the Mediterranean way of life.
Throw yourself into carnivals and village festa’s make the most of the island’s packed calendar of events. If you’re looking for a destination that offers more than just a suntan, Malta will definitely deliver beyond your expectations!
The Qrendi area
Qrendi is one of the very few remaining traditional Maltese villages having narrow winding streets with courtyard houses, the village is set around fields that offer beautiful rural walks and one of which that takes you to the seashore of the Blue Grotto a definite must to visit.
The village entered the realm of written history with the rolls of obligations for militia service in 1417 - when 26 ‘households’, no doubt the substantial farms, were recorded; the names of the householders were in about half of the instances the same as surnames in the village today.
However, Qrendi was a habited site from much earlier. Within the bounds of the village are the magnificent temples of Mnajdra and Hagar Qim, which reach back to about 3800 BC, of which places them as with other Temple Age remains, among the oldest freestanding structures in the World. Remains of shaft graves, field catacombs, and other archaeological evidence testify also to long-ago habitation.
Qrendi retains other links with the past; in Tower Street there is an octagonal tower which was a sottoposto, or subsidiary garrison of the Knights for protection of the area from marauders. Later a ring of lookout towers on the coast was built by the Knights, and Qrendi has two, one at Wied iz-Zurrieq, which serves now as police post, which still possesses its original cannon on the roof, and the other, Torri Hamrija is on the coast of Hagar Qim Archaeological Park.
When the British arrived in 1800 Qrendi was put under a Magistrate, a Luogotenente, and these persons were equipped with a walled garden for their sustenance. This garden was built on the authority of Sir Alexander Ball the civil commissioner, and is known as “Il-Gnien Tal-Kmandant”. This is kept in repair and is well worth a visit.
In the first days of July and in mid August the Band Clubs stage elaborate ‘Festas’, week-long religious festivals with musical performances, processions, street parties, and lots of fireworks and pyrotechnic exhibitions. There are also several lesser ‘fieras’ and celebrations. The fireworks are made locally in two firework ‘factories’, by volunteers, who work all year round to ensure that a spectacular display is presented.

Guestbook for Ta' Kristina
I would like to thank all for their very kind words its reassuring to know that you enjoyed it...
BELOW ARE GENUINE WORDS FROM HOLIDAYMAKERS THAT STAYED AT TA' KRISTINA...
We have just enjoyed a fabulous holiday at Ta’Kristina. The house is huge which was great with 4 us ranging in age from 15 up to 75 it meant that we all had our own space when we needed it. The WiFi was incredibly useful as it meant I could keep in touch with my office with minimal fuss and intrusion on our holiday. The property is beautiful and was so clean and welcoming. Qrendi is a fantastic little village with great people and all you need is nearby. The public transport is the most efficient we have seen anywhere in the world, and cheap as chips too. The bus journeys are an adventure in themselves!!
Our contact couldn’t do enough for us either, transport was organised to and from the airport, there was no problem when our flights were suddenly changed, he just made it all happen. He arranged a hire car immediately when we asked about it, and made it clear that if we needed anything, no matter what or when he would sort it out.
We would definitely recommend this as THE place to stay to all our friends and family.
Communication from booking right up until arrival and throughout our stay was first class.
THANK YOU

We all had a terrific time, what a beautiful village, very safe and the locals are so friendly and even joked with us in perfect English! Our children loved the pool and we just loved the house, absolutely great and would definitely recommend to our friends.
Would just like to add that we were very impressed with how clean the place was when we got there. We will miss Qrendi, never could say it right, and well for Ta' Kristina, if anyone is reading this 'its just perfect in every way!!!!
Thanks ever so much, we are internally grateful as its our first private holiday let and we were a bit hesitant at first, but your excellent communication by email and phone gave us confidence and thus as a family we will never go in hotel again, not after the last experience we had.
