The Larnaca District
Larnaca, or Larnaka is the oldest living city in Cyprus and was originally known as Kition, or Kittium.
Unlike other ancient cities of Cyprus, which were abandoned by their inhabitants, Larnaca has stood on the same site for well over 6000 years.
Larnaca attracts visitors from all over the world but it is a particular favourite of British tourists. These days approximately 3 million travellers enter Cyprus through Larnaca Airport and the Marina.
Larnaca is about fifteen minutes drive away from the complex with a greater choice of amenities. There are numerous bars, cafés and restaurants to take care of your daytime needs with the clubs and bars to look forward to in the evening. Aiya Napa is only a short drive away for more entertainment.. There are excellent beaches within easy reach of the complex. For your retail therapy sessions Larnaca has plenty of wonderful shops and markets to choose from. You can also take a stroll along the Promenade and Marina.
Pyla area
Pyla is a traditional village that boasts a number of international gastronomic restaurants as well as the traditional Cypriot cafes and restaurants offering you a good choice of menus. You are literally just a few minutes drive from the beach, (or about 20-25 minutes if you choose to walk). There are also a number of golf courses very near. Alternatively, the apartment complex boasts its own pool where guests can relax after a long day exploring the many historical and natural features this part of Cyprus has to offer. The complex also has floodlit tennis courts and electric security gates. As the area is close to the security buffer zone it is still patrolled by the UN security forces.
How to get there
Getting To Pyla from Larnaca Airport
Via Motorway—about 15 mins.
Leave Larnaca Airport and at the exit roundabout turn left, (i.e. DO NOT follow signs for Larnaca. Go Straight on at next roundabout, (this is the new terminal roundabout). At the third roundabout take the Limasol/Nicosia exit onto the A3. Follow this road heading for Paralimni, look for the Pyla exit which is after Oroklini. Follow this road towards the village but before entering the main square look for a sign reading BIOMAP. Turn right here and take the slip road. Follow this until you reach a crossroads, take a right turn here and after fifty metres you will see the entrance to Pyla 1 complex on the right hand side.
There is a route via Larnaca Town Centre that takes about twenty minutes if you want to check it out before finding the apartment. This is it.
Leave the airport and take the second exit on the roundabout signed for Larnaca. Follow this dual carriageway for about one to one and a half miles, (keep Salt Lakes on your left). The next roundabout you want has a statue in the middle of it, take the second exit here. Follow this road until the MAIN traffic lights where you will need to move into the right hand lane ready to take a right hand turn by the American School Academy and Viali Restaurant. Continue on until the next set of lights, (shops and bars line the road here and it will be busy at peak times), carry straight on until the main crossroads traffic lights, turn left here. (Straight on here would take you to the promenade/marina area and the Finikoudes Beach. Continue on through this busy area, (there are more shops and bars here plus car showrooms), until the next roundabout where you need to take the second exit signed for Dhekelia. This is the Dhekelia Coast Road. Continue on here for about three miles passing refineries and the police and fire stations. Eventually you will reach the tourist area with bars and restaurants on the left and the hotels on the right. Past the three YELLOW hotels, (Lourdos, Sandy Beach and Golden Bay) you will meet more traffic lights just after these you need to turn left. On the right hand side here is Pyla Beach. Follow this road for about five minutes - passing Pyla 2 complex on your right. You will join another road here, continue right until you come to a crossroads. When you arrive at the crossroads turn right and after about 50 metres you will see the entrance to Pyla 1 complex on the right hand side.
