The Larnaca region
Larnaca is a city which will be loved by everyone as there will most likely be something you enjoy about it - an almost full year of warm sunshine, the stretching sandy beaches of McKenzie Beach and Dhekalia Beach, the famous Finikoudes Beach, a town that is rich in history, wonderful shopping opportunities for Cypriot and British tastes and restaurants that offer mouthwatering local and international cuisine.
The Finikoudes Beach, is a mature palm tree lined promenade which is combined with fabulous restaurants, bars and clubs whilst being fronted with views of the Mediterranean Sea.
At the end of the Finikoudes Beach, is the unmissable sight of the old fort and along with other remains of the ancient city of Kingdom of Kition, this history has seeped into the town's aura to give Larnaca its unmistakeable character.
Throughout the summer, Larnaca holds various festivals including music and outdoor concerts often take place in the courtyard of the medieval fort.
The location of Larnaca allows for easy access to the other large cities nearby such as Limassol, Ayia Napa, Protaras and Nicosia.
Pyla is only a few kilometres from Larnaca town but it has been inhabited since prehistoric times due to its rich mines and historical significance.
This is further signified by Pyla's uniqueness as being the only village in Cyprus where Greeks and Turkish Cypriots still live together, which has led to a very traditional feel to the village.
There are some taverns and restaurants in the village and there are some small supermarkets nearby which can provide essential groceries.
The CTO Beach is a mere 5 minute drive away and appears to be a seemingly endless stretch of beach.
There are numerous sun loungers available and private areas for those seeking tranquillity.
There is a playground for children in case they get bored of the sun and sand!
There are beach bars and watersports on offer whilst the beach also hosts sporting events and tournaments such as beach volleyball.
When you first arrive at Larnaca Airport, the sight of the large Larnaca Salt Lake will greet you into the city.
The salt lake is an important migration route for over 80 species of birds especially flamingos.
For diving fanatics, there is a wonderful opportunity to dive at one of the top ten rated wreck dive site's in the world. The Zenobia (a 178 metre roll on - roll off ferry) capsized in 1980 and coupled with the tens of lorries it had n board, it has now become a fabulous wreck dive site which is rich in sea life.
The wreck is located just off Larnaca's fishing harbour.

We stayed at the Pyla Palms Apartments for a week in April and this holiday was fantastic.
The apartment complex was very clean and modern. The apartment had a lovely open plan layout, was wonderfully equipped and had the addition of the balcony which was great for those lazy brunches and warm evening dinners. The pool area was well maintained and we were able to enjoy swimming in the sun whilst Pyla village was nice but a little small so I would recommend a car. We were able to access the local areas easily and the local beach was only a short distance away. The Larnaca beach front boasts a lovely strip of shops, bars and restaurants so I would recommend that! A tremendous stay and will definitely be returning. Would strongly recommend this resort, lovely weather and a great relaxing place for couples or young families.
