The Granges and Puits, as the name suggests comprises renovated farm buildings around a farm court yard and several wells in the garden. Constructed in 1789 to 1822, the buildings have been home to farmers, a shoemaker, a Priest, pigs, goats and cows. Three of the buildings have been tastefully restored to provide cool, pleasant living space whilst preserving the period character. The surrounding area has been landscaped to make a large garden which unfolds into expansive scenery. Granges and Puits is located in the heart of the village Puyjourdes.
The first building, the Vigneron is a large (>200 msq) 3 bedroom house which sleeps 8 comfortably and a little out house called L'etable which sleeps 2 and is equiped with its own kitchen and living area. There is a large living area and dining areas outside and inside. The availability and prices apply to the Vigneron only.

The Midi-Pyrénées region
The Lot valley, also known as Quercy, may be familiar as a quality producer of french foods such as truffles and duck. In terms of tourism, the Lot valley is to the French what the Dordogne is to the British. It is a deeply rural and profoundly french place that has been unchanged for centuraries. You cannot help but leave modern life behind and slow down to keep pace.
PLACES OF HISTORICAL INTEREST
All three of these suggestions are a day trip from the gites but they are all spectacular.
NAJARC - This has a 12th and 13th century fortress on a cliff. Last Templar knights were imprisoned and Richard the Lion Heart signed a peace treaty with Count of Toulouse here.
CONQUES - An abbey on a cliff with Romanesque sculptures and artefacts on the Santiago de Compostela route.
ROCAMADOUR - This is a UNESCO world heritage site, a tourist site known worldwide. It's a 12th centuary pilgrimage site and revered sanctuary of the Black Virgin. It also has an extensive network or underground caves with some unique ancient cave painting.
WINETASTING - Cahor is the local AOC and we can recommend going to Puy L'eveque where there are plenty of Chateaus to choose from.
Summers are long and hot and sunshine is expected from the beginning of May to the beginning of October.
A TASTE FOR THE LOT IN THE LIMOGNE AREA - www.tourisme-lot.com, www.tourisme-limogne.com
Drive along the lot river and you will see breathtaking views as the river cuts into rock or meanders along alluvial plans. As you pass a number of small villages built out of the traditional stone you will look upto wooded hills, chateaus and farm steds.
WALKING - The national paths go for miles in this hilly wooded natural park. But they are unmarked and GPS does not work well, so leave plenty of time! There are local guides.
CHATEAU CENEVIERES - A 13th-16th centuary fortress/chateau where you can receive a guided tour by the owner.
CANOE & KAYAKING - See the Lot website for details. 'Nature & Loisirs' are very local.
ARTISAN VILLAGE - St Criq Lapopie is a picturesque village that has attracted artists and Parisian gallery owners form the beginning of the 20th centuary. There is still a contemporary art circuit based here and there are plenty of good restaurants.
GOLF - Glof du Totche is a warm up 9 hole golf course near Villefranche-de-Rouergue.
HORSE RIDING/PONY TREKKING - See the Lot website for details. There is a lot of choice.
BICYCLING - Hire bikes from Limogne. You'll see much, much more and feel better for it!
MARKETS - Sunday mornings in LIMOGNE are 'a big social' for the locals. The market is mostly local food produce but there are also some crafts.
