Puy L'eveque

House | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6

Key Info
  • Great for children of all ages
  • Some pets are welcome - please contact the owner
  • Car not necessary

Uniquely situated a stones throw away from the river Lot (and the local bar). This 18 century stone house is fully renovated and occupies a great location in the vibrant village of Puy L'Eveque in the Lot department of South West France. There is no garden but there is a beautiful large covered terrace to drink wine on late into the evenings.

Great restaurants within walking distance, fabulous Chateaux's, producing some of the regions best wines, within cycling distance and the river on your doorstep, with a Canoe available if you are feeling energetic.

Puy L'Eveque is a quiet village but during the summer there is plenty going on, wine festivals, music festivals and the local artisen riverside market are just a few of the events to keep you occupied.

There are a number of great restaurants in the village, to fit all budgets, from the upmarket Hotel Bellevue to the local creperie. There are also a multitude of fabulous places to eat in many of the surrounding villages. Puy also has a bakers (nearest is 2 mins form the house), a butchers, a supermarket and the local market every Tuesday so there is no need to drive if you want to dump the car.

Puy is served by buses from Cahors, which can be accessed by train from Toulouse airport. You can also fly to Bergerac (Ryan Air and Flybe) and pick up a rental car. The drive to Puy is around an hour.

Puy offers the best of both worlds, a beautiful village with the amenities of a much larger town and the stunning vineyards and countryside of South West France on your doorstep.

The Midi-Pyrenees region

Puy L'eveque is in the heart of Cahors wine country with hundreds of small vineyards on your doorstep. The region is also famous for its food. The river Lot is a truly beautiful river that runs through the valley. This area of France is completely unspoilt and provides a slice of truly French rural living, with daily markets in all the surrounding areas as well as one in Puy L'eveque on Tuesdays.
