There is a driveway for parking of one car, the garden is mainly laid to lawn with a boundary of shrubs and bushes. There is a patio area for seating and also a roofed veranda area suitable for sitting out on those days when the sun is just too hot! The Vendee cycle route goes passed the garden gate and although we don't provide cycles, cycle hire is freely available in the locality. There is various choices for walks, long or short, either out into open countryside or through the forest which is practically on the doorstep. We tend to follow the cycle paths although there is so little vehicular traffic it is perfectly safe to walk the country roads if you do not wish to go "off road" The village of Mervent (approx 10 mins drive) has watersports, restaurants and a further selection of walks and cycle tracks. The Vendee beaches are within an hours drive from the property and are really worth a visit. Other attractions include Puy de Fou and Futuroscope and there are numerous traditional French Markets and historic towns and villages to visit. For a very relaxing day out visit the Venise Vert and hire out a rowing boat to explore the beautiful water ways
All bed linen is provided but guests need to provide their own personal towels. The English lady who looks after the cottage for us is available to contact locally to help with any queries/problems guests may encounter.
Smoking is not permitted within the interior of the property, Should you smoke in the garden please take care to extinguish/dispose of cigarettes carefully as during dry periods it is so easy to start a fire.

Tourist brochures are available in the cottage.
Puy de Serre
Puy de fou (www.puydufou.com.uk) and Futuroscope (www.futuroscope.com) are two theme parks within easy driving distance, please visit the website addresses provided above for details.
Visit the "Venise Vert" either for a stroll around the various towns and beside the waters or take a boat on the water either under you own steam or with the aid of an oarsman
Visit the beautiful vendee beaches, just an hour away are La Tranche and La Terriere and many more lovely beaches whether you like secluded areas or somewhere with restaurants and bars all are on offer along the Vendee coastline
Why not take a look at La Rochelle with its' picturesque harbour with restaurants bars and very nice shops?
Locally within a 10 minute drive we have Vouvant, a medieval village with ramparts, river walks, restaurants and bars or Mervent again you will find restaurants and bars here and lovely walks round the lake or you may wish to take a pedel boat on the water. Just along from here is a zoo which has recently been refurbished.

"A well equipped cottage in a beautiful part of France"
We have recently returned from a lovely 10 day break at this holiday cottage with our young daughter. The cottage itself is very well equipped and has the most amazing garden to both play and relax in. The village is very sleepy and quiet apart from the sound of the church bells and the roosters which provide a subtle reminder that life does exist around you. You will definitely need a car to explore the many areas of interest in the Vendee, it is over an hour to the beaches but they are well worth a visit, with miles and miles of sandy shoreline to explore. La Rochelle is also about an hour and a half away but highly recommended for a day out. The local villages such as Mervent are well worth a visit, we had lovely picnics in the forest and walks to enjoy the spectacular views of the river and valley. Lesley was fantastic with her communication before our stay and we would like to thank her for allowing us to stay in her beautiful cottage.
Many thanks for your kind review of our property. Much appreciated. Lesley

"Cosy well equipped cottage"
Had a lovely week in this cottage, quiet village but close to amenities and things to do. Cottage is small and cosy, perfect for me, my husband and my 9 year old son who loved that he had the whole upstairs to himself. Lovely log burning fire which kept us warm. Perfectly well equipped with every thing you may need to self cater and English tv to keep my son entertained in the evening. A bottle of wine on arrival was a lovely welcoming touch as well as heaters being turned on and a light as it was getting dark. Very efficient and helpful owners as it was only booked by us only a few days before our trip and everything was sorted and emails answered immediately. Would definitely stay here again.
Thank you Justine for your lovely review, should you wish to stay again we will be able to give you a 10% discount on our normal price, would not offer this before your review as I did not wish to sway your view of the cottage. thank you Lesley Bloor

"great cottage, great location"
We enjoyed our two weeks stay, there are plenty to see and to do within a reasonable drive from the cottage, and when you just want to relax, the garden is is great. Are you into cycling, there are plenty of well marked (and mapped) cycle paths in the area.
