Property was exceptionally well presented. The owners were on hand to make sure everything was to our satisfaction...which it unreservedly was. For us the location was perfect with stunning sea views through the French doors and from the roof top sun terrace. Loved sitting by the balcony in the evening with a glass of wine or malt and watch the waves pounding into the little cove. From behind the property you climb down a handful of steps and when tide is in you can be swimming safely in sea....great for snorkelling. Although we speak minimal Spanish we were made to feel very welcome in all the local hostelries where you could eat and drink for very reasonable prices compared to the 'built up tourist areas. Great location for exploring the remainder of the island but for us most of the scenic areas were within 20 mins drive. Some lovely secluded golden sand beaches intermingled with the black volcanic lava. Handy to have a car but if you want to switch off and totally chill out its worth arranging a local transfer or even a taxi...cost not prohibitive. The supermarket at the filling station in Arrieta...about 1km down the flat road...is well stocked at very reasonable prices. We would have no hesitation recommending this property for anyone looking for a peaceful away from it all holiday.

Further details outdoors

The apartment is situated directly on the coastline and has a small beach just outside the property which is ideal for swimming, snorkling, sun bathing or just sitting quietly with a book or having a bite to eat. The apartment benefits from a tiled terrace with table, chairs, loungers, etc. There are magnificant 360 degree views of the sea and hills. There is a short walk to the local bar which sits right on the water with table and chairs. All along the coast there are man made sea pools which fill with the tide and are ideal swimming areas.

The Lanzarote region

Lanzarote is situated just 79 miles off the coast of Africa and is the most easterly of the Canary Islands. The island is 37 miles (60km) long and 12 miles (20 km) wide, making it the fourth largest island in the Canaries.

Lanzarote enjoys a mild dry climate with average daytime temperatures ranging from about 21°C in January to 29°C in August. Annual rainfall is just 140mm (5.5 inches). This makes Lanzarote the perfect year-round destination.

As with the other Canary Islands, Lanzarote is Volcanic in origin. Due to the recent eruptions during the 18th and 19th Centuries, many parts of Lanzarote appear to be from another world, often described as 'lunar' or 'Martian'.

The dry climate (and lack of erosion) means that the Volcanic Landscape appears much as it did just after the eruptions.

Amongst the many stunning Volcanic features of Lanzarote is the longest Volcanic Tunnel in the world, the Atlantida Tunnel, which is over 7 km long and includes the La Cueva de los Verdes and Jameos del Agua.

Punta Mujeres

The village of Punta Mujeres is located on the north-east coastline of Lanzarote adjacent to Arrieta. The property is situated on the seafront which is just a few metres from the door. The streets and paths hug the coastline so you are never far from the water. A variety of beaches and sea pools are scattered throughout the village. Lanzarote is a small but beautiful varied island with volcanic black or white sandy beaches and breathtaking views. Along the nearby coasts are numerous beaches, sand dunes, the port of Orzola, and volcanic rock waterfronts. The tourist attractions of Jameos del Agua, Mirador del Rio, Cuevas de los Verdes, the Cactus Gardens of Guatiza, and palm trees of Haria are only a few miles away. Further afield there are the main tourist resorts of Costa Teguise and Puerto del Carmen, the capital city, Arrecife, wine fields of La Geria, Timanfaya volcano and the creative works of Cesar Manrique. There is magnificent varied land scape through the island.

"dirty apartment - unreliable owners"

We spent a week in this apartment (4/12 January). At our arrival we found the house very dirty: (i) the floors were very full of dust, (ii) we had to clean/wash almost all the equipment in the kitche… More

This review is very inaccurate and the result of the guest failing in his attempt to extract compensation from us. First of all the apartment was clean. Our rep visited the apartment shortly after the guest arrived and was told everything was fine with the exception of 2 wet towels which is I accept unacceptable but what the guest failed to write was that there were also dry towels for there use. This was a very late booking and we had a changeover the same day so it took a lot of effort the get the apartment ready for the guest in time. On top of that they had an early flight. Our rep visited the guest shortly after their arrival and was told everything was OK with the exception of the TV which was getting poor reception for some reason. She offered to replace the wet towels. We arrived at the apartment the same day the guest left and the TV was working. I do accept that at the time it may have been intermittent. At no time did the guest while they were in the apartment contact us about any problem other than the TV.
Our apartment is lovely and sits right on the seafront. This review in no way accurately describes our apartment and the score of 1 is totally unfair and vindictive. The guest who wrote this did so because we did not give him a refund. This review system attracts people looking to get some payment.

"Great location, clean, comfortable, basic property"

Good things first:The location is great - right on the shore, you can walk out and get in the water in secondsThe apartment was clean and tidyThe directions were clear - (we had a sat nav. anyway)The … More

First of all we find the review very misleading and grossly unfair. Although there were some references to the roof terrace is our listing we made it very clear in our reply that it is not accessible from the ground floor bottom apartment. We have removed all references to the terrace in the listing. The internet being in a rural area can be intermittent at times but we find it normally very reliable for email etc. We previously advertised both apartments on the same listing. The bedrooms are not small. The second bedroom with the pine furniture is of average size, large enough for a double and single bed. The main bedroom is very large and has a king and single bed with white modern furniture. Regarding the hot water we have a very large tank which is on constantly and services only one apartment. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with cooker with 4 ring hob, microwave, fridge freezer, electric kettle, toaster, pots and pans, cutlery for 6 including kitchen knives, cooking utensils, full set of matching dishes, serving dishes glasses, cups, etc. There is also an iron with ironing board. There is a washing machine. The guests failed to mention the main bathroom with it's corner bath and walk in shower.
The access lane does not allow cars and leads only to the water and is not very busy. We sit out there regularly and are seldom disturbed.
Overall as indicated above we find the review immensely misleading. We made it very clear that the apartment did not have access to the roof terrace. We also find the reviewer's descriptions of the apartment inaccurate. Although not on the terrace the view from the patio windows is directly overlooking the water only 2 metres away. There are table and chairs to sit outside.

"Charms of Casa Neptuno"

I was lucky enough to select Casa Neptune as a base for our stay in Arrieta, Lanzarote, after looking online at other properties. It turned out to be very happy choice.
I am a fairly fit and healthy 67 year old divorced woman, on holiday with my 38 year old son, who likes parties and music etc, but who was very pleased to spend time in this peaceful and pretty village. If you are looking for the amenities and facilities of the larger resorts on this lovely island, please do not read on.
The apartment is faultless. It is exactly as described by the owners on the website. So I'm not going to repeat all that, but just add our impressions.
Doug and Diana have created a perfect and relaxing environment in this delightful little village, where the local people are friendly, gentle and helpful, and the sound of the sea is never far away. In Casa Neptune it is ever present. We found the roof terrace a wonderful place to "chill" . at the times when we weren't on the beach or doing other things. However, if you're not in the first floor apartment, you can sit out and enjoy the the ambience in front of the ground floor, just like all the locals do, including Doug and Diana.
I really enjoyed swimming in the " sea pools" but you must watch the tides and see what the locals are doing. You must get some suitable foot gear - I found this really helpful even on the beaches which can be unpredictably rough and pebbly underfoot.
Ok, I realise I should write more about the apartment. I assume that you are not going to book without looking at website photos, and all I can say is that we were not disappointed. Everthing was tasteful, well thought out, with the needs of holiday makers fully catered for In fact I would have lived there for ever... if I could! Lovely views, and the little sea pool just steps away.Lovely comfotablr beds and sofas, where you (too quiet for some?) but it certainly met our requirements. There are at least two very well stocked mini markets . If you want fresh croissants, get to the little supermarket near Palenke EARLY!
Eating out in the evening seems to take place earlier than in other parts of Spain. In Punta Mujeres,Palenke seems to stay open later and is excellent, very friendly. Arrieta has a wider choice of eating places, but again not very late. The beach restaurants at Arrieta are excellent for everything.. but again just daytime. So just be sure you have the makings of a meal at home.. just in case! The little burger/pizza/ snack places are good and cheap and friendly and open longer hours... but not very late. And remember that a few places don't open at all on Mondays.
I hope you have as lovely a holiday as we did.
Thank you too Doug and Diana, Arrieta, and Lanzarote
I would be happy to communicate with anyone interested
