The West Wales/Pembrokeshire region
This is an area of mountains, sea and national park and somewhere that has been attracting holidaymakers for many years. Pembrokeshire Coast national Park in the south west is a favourite holiday destination, with miles of coastal footpaths and wonderful seascapes; lots of Blue Flag beaches and seas rich in marine life. Further east Carmarthenshire also has lots to attract holidaymakers, with historic castles, mountains, rivers and of course coastline. No matter where you choose your never too far away from mountains and the sea and of course there is the thriving cities of Cardiff and Swansea to visit, where you'll find lots of first class shops, cafes and restaurants.
Guests of Skokholm are able to enjoy a stroll in the six acres of land which surround this property. With everything from streams to grasslands and views over the spectacular Rosebush reservoir to admire, a peaceful meander through these beautiful grounds can provide enough entertainment for a whole day. Those keen on exploring a little further can also take a walk around the reservoir itself or venture into the nearby Preseli hills for a spot of hill walking and stop off at a local pub on the way home for some hearty local food. The Llys y Fran country park also lies just a few miles south, where visitors can partake in a spot of fishing, walking or cycling, and children can release some energy in the adventure play area! Others may enjoy a trip to the wonderful nature reserve of Skomer island itself, to which regular boat trips run from Martins haven, which is only half an hour's drive away, offering a truly thrilling day out for the whole family. The historic town of St David's is also within easy reach. Famous for being Britain's smallest city, it has plenty to offer the visitor by way of unique shops, local pubs and exciting restaurants, and it even has its own cathedral.
