The cottage garden has fabulous, uninterrupted views over the countryside and South Downs.... the cows will come up to see you at the fence! There is a public footpath starting next to our garden. Local nature reserve with lovely walks start at the cottage too.
It is just a short walk to Nutbourne common, which is a delightful hideaway.
Great new lane surface laid 1st March 2014.
Welcome toiletry gift packs, chocolates and slippers await our guests, these are provided for our guests as a welcome....
Suitable for toddlers with care as staircase is steep, although it is a fantastic place for children as they can play in the fields and woods right next to the garden. Fantastic for ALL age groups!
Suitable for guests with limited mobility as the single bedroom is on ground floor with downstairs shower & toilet. There are only TWO steps a guest with limited mobility would have to negotiate. The bathroom is only 14 steps away and the bedroom has it's own access to the garden. We have had 9 guests stay in the past 2 years with limited mobility.
The downstairs shower is 6ft 5 inches high and 60cm wide. It has a full size toilet and sink. The cottage is very old, so height varies from room to room...please be aware there are low beams and thresholds in the cottage, especially the doorways upstairs.
The West Sussex region
West Sussex is packed with interesting places to go, fun things to do and sights to see. The county is full of stately homes, vibrant market towns, beautiful countryside, villages which resonate with history, the fantastic Sussex seaside and lots of exciting days out. Arundel Castle, Petworth House, Brighton and Goodwood Racecourse can all be easily reached from the cottage. London is only just over an hour by train.
The village of Nutbourne is mentioned in the Domesday Book as 'knutu burna' meaning 'nuts over a stream'. Not many place names that we use today appear in the Domesday Book, making the few that have survived very special.
NYETIMBER in West Chiltington, is one of England's highest-profile sparkling wine producers. Frequently served up at royal events, it was chosen for the Queen's barge during the Diamond Jubilee pageant. The vineyard is a short walk from the cottage and covers over 400 acres of rolling English countryside.
Dyke farm shop is a 7 minute walk where they have a variety of local products including: milk, bread, jams, preserves, oils and marinades, plus mouth watering home-made cakes, pies and quiches.
Our wonderful local pub, The Rising Sun is a short walk from the cottage and still runs as a 'free-house' where you can get a quick snack or hearty home-made meal. Live music every-other Tuesday.
South Downs Way, including Cissbury Ring, Chanctonbury Ring, Seven Sisters and Beachy Head. There are many lovely walks in the South Downs National Park straight from the front door of the cottage, including to Amberley, Arundel, Washington and Storrington.
Fishers Farm Park (6 miles) is the award-winning family visitor attraction located on the edge of the South Downs National Park. Open all year- a must for anyone with younger children!
The beach we love the best is at West Wittering about 45 minutes drive....there are fantastic board walks, a sandy beach and wonderful views.

"We felt like being in a different world"
Thanks to the exact directions from Tracey it wasn't too difficult to find the property. At first sight we were overwhelmed by the loveliness of Goat Cottage. Entering the cottage took our breath - everything was arranged so nicely, the rooms were perfectly clean and cosy, and the old desk in the bathroom was just amazing. Kitchen equippment was perfect, and a herd of cows were welcoming us! We really felt like being in heaven! We can only recommend this lovely cottage to everyone who is looking for peace and quiet in a wonderful surrounding. A million thanks to Tracey ! Heinz, Waltraud, John, Brigitta and Erika from Austria
Thank you for your lovely comments, it makes all the hard work worth while when we get such positive, kind feedback. Thank you for the lovely photos of you all enjoying the cottage, they are great to see. In the 2 years we have been letting the cottage, we have strived to get the layout and facilities right for all age groups..from a 4 day old baby to a 98 year old (our youngest and eldest guests so far!)and hope we have acheieved that. We have been overwhelmed by all the fantastic emails, reviews & comments in the guest book. You are very welcome back anytime, thank you for being such wonderful guests! Best wishes, Tracey, Tim and children x

Goat Cottage is in a lovely rural spot backing onto delightful fields, but is also very accessible to many great places mostly within about half an hour's drive - such as Amberley, Arundel, Singleton (Weald & Downland museum) and Chichester to name but a few. There are great footpaths and the RSPB nature reserve at Pulborough Brooks is very close too. We loved having breakfast out on the patio which caught the sun in the morning. We would love to return as we quickly felt that Goat cottage was "home".

"Cute cottage in beautiful location"
We had a lovely stay in Goat Cottage for a long weekend to celebrate my parents' golden anniversary. The cottage is in a beautiful location, with a great outlook over fields towards the South Downs. There are plenty great walks nearby or from the cottage's doorstep. The cottage is very well equipped & thoughtfully decorated, making for a fun and relaxing weekend all round.

"Countryside at its best"
The owners were very helpful from the time of booking until the end of our stay. We found the amenities in excellent condition. We stayed at the cottage with four adults using all bedrooms. The location was as expected: quiet with beautiful views over the countryside. Great for walks. The pub in the village of Nutbourne can be highly recommended as well as the farm shop close by.

"Idyllic location in the Sussex countryside."
Goat Cottage is a beautiful, peaceful house in Nutbourne. We were pleasantly surprised. It is well equipped, tastefully, furnished, comfy bed - and plenty or room for a family. A lovely location surrounded by stunning countryside, very relaxing. A great area for walking too. Near a wonderful pub (a 5 minute walk), and a farm Shop at the end of the lane. The nearest town isn't far (5 minute drive) . Wish we could have stayed longer, we loved it and will definitely book a longer break there next time!

"peaceful holiday getaway"
We had a wonderful week in Goat Cottage. It is such a beautiful location, so peaceful and great for a family getaway. We enjoyed the local pub, which had a great atmosphere and we walked there and back and a torch was provided for us, children are welcome in the family room which was great for us! The cottage is beautiful, with a super open fire and lovely beds, furnishings. We like that there was space for us all, although it is a quaint, old cottage. My wife liked the fact that she could get ready and had a full length mirror to see herself in and a hairdryer was provided! We loved the little dining room and the view of the fields from the kitchen windows. Just beatiful and we have already made a booking for next year. Thank you for all the help with directions and ideas of all the things to do locally. We came for a quiet week after visiting London for the weekend and we got it!

"beautiful cottage,stylishly furnished,fantastic location,would recommend to anyone."
I recently stayed at Goat cottage for a week with my family,Husband, elderly mother and two daughters. We were absolutely delighted with the accomodation, the furnishings were beautiful ,adding to the charm of this cottage. We found that the owners had clearly considered in detail there guests requirements which impressed us.catering to the differant age groups in our party isn't always easy but not one of us had any complaints,my 80 year old mother commented on how comfortable her bed was!The views from the property are stunning and parking for our two cars achievable with some help from my husband.! The local farm shop was well stocked. The pub we would highly recommend for a meal or just a drink. We visited Chichester and Brighton whilst at the cottage, and enjoyed the shopping and local history.,Tracey and Tim the owners were very helpful with our questions prior to our stay.I look forward to my next stay at this lovely cottage.I rented via owners abroad but was so impressed I felt I should review on tripadvisor as well!
Thank you for your great review and we are delighted you enjoyed your time in our cottage, we look forward to welcoming you back. We would also like to thank you for leaving the cottage in such lovely condition on your departure. Tim & Tracey
