Sa Taulera is a particularly individual house, named for its many tiled roofs. Originally the site was used to make traditional Mallorquin roof tiles before being converted into an extensive family home.
It is a large single story villa, set into the mountain creating large rooms on different levels. It was completely restored in 2008 and has been brought up to date with tasteful fixtures and fittings and every comfort for a home from home holiday. The accommodation is spacious with lots of areas to either gather together or to spread out for some down time and some peace and quiet.
The main drive and entrance are on the lower level with the kitchen, utility, dining room, WC. bedroom suite 5 and the entrance, pool and main terrace are on one level. Then 4 steps up to main lounge with log burner, bedroom suite's 2, 3 and 4. Then a few steps up to sun room/study and master bedroom suite and upper entrance.
The outside terraces are extensive and private with a 10m x 4m swimming pool for the exclusive use of guests. The property also boasts a traditionally roofed gazebo/outdoor lounge with TV for relaxing in the shade with a cool drink. An ideal place to gather for an aperitif before going out for dinner or enjoying a lovely meal or BBQ by the pool in the atmospheric lighting of Sa Taulera by night.
It is a great base both in and out of high season and caters for any type of holiday. It is on cycling routes and there are incredible walks from the house over the mountains towards the sea. It is close to climbing centres and a wide selection of excellent Golf Courses.
The property is surrounded by trees so the terraces and pool are private and secluded with a beautiful view up the mountain.
The trees, mountains and the superb 5 Star Gran Hotel Son Net provide a striking backdrop for a perfect balmy evening.

There is a large kitchen, large marble butler sink and marble worktops plus breakfast bar table and stools. Large electric oven, gas hob, microwave, toaster, Whirlpool fridge/freezer, Miele dishwasher.
An attractive feature of the large split level lounge is a traditional mares stone wall and wood burning fire. The lounge has TV, DVD and Apple TV facilities.
Steps from lounge lead to study which has 2 Dell computers with broadband and Wifi, a library and games. At the 2nd front door entrance on the upper level there is a large entrance hall and chill-out area with sofa. Apple TV av. in Gazebo by pool.
Bed linen, bath, hand, kitchen and pool towels are included. For two week plus rentals, the linen, bath and hand towels are changed weekly and a 3 hour clean incl. Property manager 5 minutes away. Languages spoken: English, Spanish.
The property is not ideal for wheelchairs as it is on split level with various steps throughout the property. From the lower gate there is access to the kitchen, dining room and bedroom 5, including patio doors to the pool area. The top gate leads to steps down to top hall and master bedroom. There are a 7 steps down to a sun/study room. Then 4 steps to a lounge area and then a further 4 steps to main lounge, bedrooms 2, 3 and 4. Bedrooms 2 and 4 have french doors out to front terrace. From the lounge are 4 small steps down to bedroom 5, dining room and kitchen - each with french doors to terrace and pool.

There are two main entrances to the house both accessed by electric gates and private drive.
There are many outside terraced areas to the front and rear of the house, the main one covering a huge area around the pool. The pool is 4m x 10m has underwater lighting and has steps right across the width for easy access. There are sunbeds, parasols, and sun loungers. There are garden tables and chairs with seating for more than 12 people, both gas and coal BBQ's (Webber's) and 2 log fire heaters for the cooler nights.
There is a large traditional Gazebo with large cusioned sofas. It provides a cool place out of the mid-day sun. Perfect for relaxing, having a drink, reading a book and still taking in the activities going on around the pool and terrace. It is also fitted with aa ipod docking station, a sound system and a TV screen. This is connected to both Apple TV and our DVD player.
There are established shrubs and plants around the pool area.
The view from the terrace stretches up the mountain to the fabulous Son Net Hotel and Spa which is situated just above the village. There are steps up to further terrace areas, 3 newly planted fruit trees and the top drive and access gates.

Prices for the property are per week in euros or per night with a minimum of 4 nights. There is an additional fee of Euro 65 for the use of the Study as a bedroom (to enable 12 adults the required room) and for the winter months Euro 150 per week for pool heating and per stay (for those staying less than a week). An increased security deposit and a facility fee is required for all events hosted at the villa.
Sa Taulera and Puigpunyent are an ideal base for a cycling holiday and would suit both the serious and the leisure cyclist. Autumn and spring are the perfect season of a cycling break.
In addition the villa can be used for small Wedding receptions and celebrations as it is perfect for an intimate reception of up to 40 guests. If you are interested in hosting an event at Sa Taulera, please call us to discuss in more detail and confirm additional fees (an event fee, cleaning, additional security deposit based on the number of people). We can put you in touch with caterers and event organisers if required who can help you plan your event. We do insist that the number of people staying in the Villa remains a max of 12.

Mallorca has a wide selection of towns, ports, beaches, nature parks, museums with many places to see. The Caves of Drach are a must if you are in Mallorca. The villa is well situatued to visit the entire island, and particularly close to the famous places such as Deia and Valdemossa, the famous haunts of Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones.
We are half way between the south coast beaches of Palma, Illetas, Bendinat and Puerto Portals which are 20 min/10 15 km and the west cost, Bunyalbufar, Deia and Valdemossa being a little longer on smaller more windy roads. beyond Palma Nova and Magalug are the stunning beach coves of Cap Falco and Portals Vells with it's carved cave chapel and miles of pine woods. Its a further 10 minutes drive but the sea food beach BBQ is well worth it.

The Puigpunyent area
The Traditional Village of Puigpunyent rests on the slopes of the Tramuntana Mountains. It has many local shops and is about a 5 minute walk from the villa. There is a local supermarket with fresh vegetables, salad, meat, beverages and dry goods. There is also a bakery and butcher as well as a wonderful chemist. It is best to get to the bakery first thing but the supermarket has a continuous supply of fresh baked bread and is open until about 8pm most evenings. Please note that most shops are closed on Sundays. There is a village sports complex with tennis court, swimming pool, flood lit football pitches and a bar/café.
It is a 10-15 minutes drive to Palma with its old town, famous Cathedral and Port.It is well known as an area of exceptional beauty, surrounded by Vineyards, Country Houses and Farms providing visitors with a taste of traditional Mallorca.Only 3 min walk to the village with about 6 restaurants shops and bars. Half way between the south coast beaches of Palma, Illetas, Benditnat and Puerto Portals approx 20 min 10-15 km and the west coast, Bunyalbufar, Deia and Valdemossa.
Beyond Palma Nova and Magaluf are the stunning beaches of coves of Cap Falco and Portals Vells. Puigpunyent is within 15 mins of 5 of the best golf courses on Mallorca, Son Vida being 10 min drive. The cooling evening breezes and tranquillity of Pungpunyent a perfect end to a long day out on the golf course.
Valldemossa is a must! Especially on a Sunday when the market is on you need to go in the morning and have coffee and almond cake there as it is the speciality.
Puigpunyent is within 15 mins of 5 of the best golf course on Mallorca. Son Vida being 10 mins drive. Bendinat, Son Antem, Poniente and Santa Ponsa. 15 mins west is Son Termens, and to the east Son Gual and Golf Park Puntiro. Sa Taulera Casa is a secluded private villa located 5 minutes walk from the pretty village of Puigpunyent. It is a short drive to the coast , set just below the mountains.
Palma de Mallorca Airport is 20 minutes away and very easy to get to. You will need to hire a car or take one of the regular, reliable taxis from the airport. Taxis from the airport cost 35 Euro. The port of Palma is 15 minutes by car with a number of fast and overnight ferries to Barcelona through the year.
There is also a regular bus service to Palma and if you want a night out in the city, buses go to Palma until 7.30 on Saturday evenings and a taxi back will cost 25 euros.

The property is super spacious and everything is easily accessible. I really enjoyed the large pool and the TV in the outdoor gazebo for late night movies. It feels like a home and you can really make yourself comfortable. I look forward to visiting again! |

Sa Taulera Casa, was a wonderful place to stay. Inside and outside merge as one big space. Lots of area's for sunbathing with or without shade. Swimming pool great size. Eating outside at night was easy, and very relaxing with a glass of wine. Bedrooms and bathrooms good size , lots of white fluffy towels. Kitchen had everything we needed. Puigpunyent is very Spanish , not touristy at all, with a good supermarket, bank/cash machine, and a couple of really good bar/resturant. |

I had the opportunity to book Sa Taulera last July and it was so enjoyable, I'm going back again this year! Located just 25 minutes from the airport in Palma, Sa Taulera has has all the amenities of a private paradise. With its five beadrooms and on suite baths, there was certainly enough room for our entire family. Our family prefers home cooked meals, and the fully equiped kitchen was the joy of cooking! The weather was beautiful while we were there and we often ate in a shaded area (covered in grape vines) outside next to the pool and gardens. We did eat out one evening in town at Rosa's Restaurant which was walking distance and our meals were fantastic. Also don't miss the local winery nearby and LaReserve-- both a treat to visit. I highly recommend this porperty and hope you enjoy it as much as our family did. |
