The Tenerife region
Tenerife enjoys sunshine all year round making it a perfect place to enjoy sunny days in the winter. The island is the largest of the Canary islands in the Atlantic ocean .It is a safe and friendly place to visit tourism being one of their major industries. The north of the island enjoys luscious vegetation whist the south is much drier. There is plenty on the island for all age groups from the most active walker to boat trips to visit the whales and dolphins. Birdwatchers especially love the island with the Loro Parque parrot park and Las Aguilas bird of prey park. There are also jeep safaris, horse riding, tennis and diving
Puerto Santiago / Los Gigantes area
Puerto Santiago has a relaxed laid back atmosphere with many people returning year after year. There is a large variety of restaurants and bars within walking distance along with several supermarkets. A small sandy beach is nearby. Los Gigantes has the imposing cliffs, a marina and the Whale and Dolphin excursions and the Diving.There is also a beach here. Playa de la Arena boasts the large black sandy beach just a ten minute walk away which has the Blue Flag award.
How to get there
Frequent flights available from many airports to Reina Sofia Airport in the South of Tenerife.The resort is approx 30 minutes from the airport. Cheap flights available dependant on time of year from flyglobespan.com and thomson.com Car hire is readily available from record rent a car, tamayrentacar.com or Avis all reasonable priced. Other means of transfer to the resort are taxi costing approx 40euros or a reliable minibus company called elmarbookings.com 54 euros return for two people
