About the home
The view from our balcony to the giant cliffs of Los Gigantes is regarded as one of Tenerifes most breath taking sites. The sheer grandeur and beauty is so overwhelming you will want to spend your days sitting on the balcony just taking it in. Watch the changing light on the cliffs and ocean as the early morning sun rises over you and setting at dusk often with glorious sunsets on the island of La Gomera before you. See the boats leave the harbour to go fishing, searching for whales and dolphins or just having fun.
The apartment is on the first floor in a small block of 12 other apartments at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac only 5 minutes walk down the hill to the village with its array of supermarkets, shops, bars, beach, public swimming pools,sports facilities and choice of restaurants. The road to the apartment block is mainly residential and lined with pine trees on either side and walking back up the hill can be taxing for some or you just get a taxi from the village for about 3E.
If you are wanting night clubs Los Gigantes is not for you. It is a quiet relaxing village and our apartment is in a quiet relaxing block, usually with no children.

The apartment looks straight out to sea, the islands of La Gomera and La Palma and the giant cliffs with wall to wall ceiling high windows in every room and terrace giving magnificent views of the bay and cliffs.
The apartment is very spacious.
The sun hits the apartment block in early afternoon until sunset. The swimming pool and sunbathing area is just on the floor below.
The TV in the lounge gives real time BBC1, BBC2 , ITV , and channel 4.
There is a selection of several books, DVDs and CDs for your use.

Normal letting is on a weekly basis but short term ie. 3 days plus or longer lets are available. Contact the owner with your requirements and to discuss likely fees.

20% deposit on booking with balance payable 28 days before arrival. In addition £100 deposit for apartment keys refunded within 7 working days when returned to owners.

The Tenerife region
Tenerife is the biggest of seven islands of the Canary Islands located in the Atlantic Ocean some 300km from the African Coast. It is part of Spain and the central mountain, Teide at 12200 feet is Spain's highest mountain. Tenerife like all the Canary Islands was formed by volcanic eruptions.
They enjoy warm sunny days with a perfect climate and temperatures ranging from 19degs C and 28degs C. The north part of the Island is bordered by steep cliffs but the southern part slopes down to one of the few regions of level coastal plain in the volcanic islands of archipelago. Tenerife has traditional rural towns, hillside villages and extraordinary unusual landscapes formed from the twisted lava-rock of Mount Teide.
It is a paradise for tourists and makes an idyllic holiday destination any time of year.
The Puerto Santiago / Los Gigantes area
Los Gigantes is a vibrant village tucked away down on the furthest westerly point of Tenerife. It's position makes it one of the warmest parts of the Island and much loved by tourists and locals alike. The giant cliffs known as Aconttilados de Los Gigantes rise 600 metres from the Atlantic and marks the abrupt edge of northwestern Tenerife's Teno Massif. The backdrop of these cliffs gives Los Gigantes a perfect setting for a holiday destination.
The pretty harbour fronted by restaurants and bars is a place to stop and relax.
The small beach gives you the opportunity to sunbathe or swim in the quiet warm Atlantic.
Head for the Church and it's square where again you can stop and relax over a drink.
Look for the sea water lido and pool, and the other pools with their sunbathing areas
For the more energetic there are hiking trips to places like Masca, boat trips to search for Whales and Dolphins, deep sea fishing, scuba diving and many other water sport activities.
In the evening choose from one of the many restaurants serving local cuisine or fish or your favourite meal. Then go and find one of the bars providing live entertainment in the warm evening air.

Getting to Tenerife and Los Gigantes is quite straightforward.
Flights are from most British airports and can cost between £100 and £200 return, depending when and where you fly from. Flight times are between 4 and 5 hours. Tenerife is in the same time zone as the UK. Try and ensure you fly to Tenerifes South airport called Sofia Reina. Choice of airlines are :-

It is recommended you hire a car because it gives easy access to many places to visit as well as transport to and from the airport . Car hire is fairly cheap being about £130 per week for an air conditioned medium sized car. There are many providers who operate from the airport and forward planning will ensure one is available on arrival at the airport. We will supply you with a route map to the apartment. Alternatively, there is an airport transfer service that can be pre-booked online from www.tenerifeairporttransfers.co.uk (they're under the trade name of Elmar) for about 30€ each return. They will take you from the airport to the apartment but they stop en-route for others to disembark so will take a bit longer.Taxis will charge about 50€ each way.

The apartment is well presented and contains everything we needed for a self catering break. The location is wonderful and well connected. I would recommend the use of a vehicle if you wish to explore further afield however there were plenty of buses to make connections. The SW of the island is truly beautiful and has a diverse and varied landscape which is well worth exploring. A lovely apartment to return home to at the end of the day. Very reasonabley priced- I couldn't recommend it more highly! |

Wonderful location in Los Gigantes - the apartment was very comfortable - sitting in bed in the morning with our cup of tea watching the sea - just wonderful. The owners were very friendly and provided any information we needed beforehand and plenty of information in the apartment which included restaurants and places to visit. Los Gigantes (the village) was downhill and given my walking difficulties, walking back was fine for me just needed a little shove every so often - that was due more to the intake of food from the wonderful restaurants though! There was a welcome pack of milk, bread, eggs etc when we arrived - very grateful for as we arrived fairly late and didnt need to go shopping straight away. Shower was always hot, hair dryer provided, kitchen well equipped, loads of hanging space for clothes - really good supermarkets nearby and 10 minutes by car - really had a lovely relaxing and comfortable stay and would certainly go back again. |
