Villa Sa Tanca, Puerto Pollenca

Just 5 minutes drive from the beaches at the southern end of the Bay of Pollenca and with open farmland to the rear, this very appealing villa is set in a large plot complete with orchard, plus the advantage of its own tennis court in addition to a lovely 8m x 4.5m swimming pool. The Villa and gardens are uniquely decorated with some rustic pottery pieces hand made by the owner who, in her spare time is a gifted potter.

The entrance door leads into a hallway with on one side, the kitchen with attractive tiled work surface and pine table and chairs, plus full cooker, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. Just across the hallway is a generous walk in larder with plenty of shelving and a large fridge- freezer. Beyond here, an archway opens into a long and spacious open plan living area, furnished and decorated in an appealing country style with some lovely pieces of antique furniture and two comfortable sofas as well as large colonial style ceiling fans. A few metres from the villas kitchen is a huge old fireplace with wood-burning stove, plus dining table and chairs, whilst at the far end of the room, patio doors open onto a spacious covered terrace, where there is a further large circular pine table for open air dining. To one side of the living area are one double and one twin bedroom, both well furnished, with air conditioning, sloping beamed ceilings and pretty curtained windows looking out on the orchard. Next to the bedrooms and off a small hallway is a full bathroom with a separate shower cubicle and a further small shower room.

In the terrace beside the outside covered dining area is a very attractive rustic barbecue and the inviting 4.5m x 8.5m swimming pool with roman steps into the shallow end. A pathway from the Villa's pool through the small orchard leads to the tennis court.

A fold up bed is available for an extra guest who can sleep in relative privacy in the small, curtained ante-room, situated at the far end of the villa's living room, with doors to the covered terrace. The villa also has a 32'' flat screen TV (restricted English channels) with satellite receiver and a DVD player.

The villas swimming pool has a minimum depth of 1.2m sloping to 1.8m,.

Puerto Pollenca is no more than 10 minute drive away, whilst a short drive or 20 mins walk in the opposite direction will bring you to the atmospheric, old Roman town of Alcudia with numerous small tapas bars and family run restaurants lining the narrow flag-stoned streets. A wider choice of eating places can be found down at the picturesque quayside.

The Balearic Islands region

Away from the island's bustling capital Palma and the frenetic atmosphere of its nearby "high rise" resorts, a startling change of pace and scenery takes over. Fertile fields dotted with windmills turning lazily in the breeze, give way to rolling countryside covered in olive and almond groves punctuated by vineyards and small, sun-bleached villages. Medieval monasteries and castles perch quixotically atop pine clad mountains and look out over the azure sea that encircles the island's 400 km of beautiful coastline, most of which is surprisingly untouched by signs of mass tourism and remains virtually unknown to all but a few of Mallorca's many visitors.

With fabulous white sand beaches and historic towns of Pollenca, Campanet & Inca to name but a few, placed on the north west of the island of Mallorca sits below the inspiring Tramuntana mountains. Here the island of Mallorca retains a leisurely atmosphere reminiscent of bygone days with many small villages virtually untouched by tourism, where you can find a sunny Church square to join the locals in watching the world go by.

In the south of Mallorca, pretty harbour sides and sophisticated yachting resorts hide in sandy coves protected by pine clad headlands. Inland, below splendid monasteries perched on lofty mountain tops, life still beats to the rhythm of rural Mallorcan life.

With 6 Michelin starred restaurants, bodegas producing quality Mallorca wines, walking and cycle routes and world class golf courses, Mallorca is amongst the most sophisticated destinations of the Med.

On our Mallorca website you will find seaside apartments and a selection of individual Mallorca villas for rent ranging from centuries old farmhouse to neat little Villas near the beach

Puerto Pollensa

With fabulous white sand beaches stretching around a huge sweep of bay, sheltered by the wild and rugged headland of Cabo Formentor, Puerto Pollenca magically retains an unruffled, leisurely atmosphere reminiscent of bygone days, when it was just a small fishing port. A remarkable feature of the town and one that lingers long in the memory, is its elegant tree lined promenade fringed by shops, restaurants and open air cafes, where a lazy stroll in the evening soon becomes something of a ritual and pleasantly sharpens the appetite.

For the more active, there's naturally a wide choice of water sports available as well as horse riding, tennis and golf and, if you take a trip across the headland to the nearby seaside village of Cala San Vicente, you'll find a little rocky cove for snorkeling and two lovely sandy bays. Inland, the medieval town of Pollenca, with its narrow cobbled streets and tapas bars around the square is certainly worth a visit, whilst the utterly unspoilt countryside offers a wealth of magnificent scenery and in springtime plays host to many migratory birds from Africa.

"Wonderful stay at Sa Tanca Villa"

The villa is absolutely wonderful. Very Majorcan with traditional furnishings and a lovely atmosphere. The grounds are very peaceful with a lovely pool which was very welcome during the hot days we experienced. It is in a great position too. Very peaceful but close enough to the Old town Alcudia and Puerto Pollenca both of which are lovely. Not too touristy and the restaurants are great. The old town has a market on Tuesdays and Saturdays with some great bargains.
This was the second visit to the villa and this time my parents came too. We had some lovely evenings eating and drinking on the veranda until about 1am when it was still lovely and warm.
We are booking again for 2014. I would highly recommend this villa and the area if you like the peace of the countryside but like to visit other towns and beaches which are close by. I would recommend a car as the villa is about a mile from the Old town of Alcudia and about 3 miles from Puerto Pollenca.
We also drove via the mountain road (a bit hairy at times because of the hairpin bends, but spectacular views) to a number of towns on the north western side of the island and I would highly recommend this as there are some beautiful villages /towns on the island.
We can't wait to go back next year!!

"Perfect house for a short trip"

I went to this house for 4 days with 4 friends (age about 25).

The house is really great looking and has a huge garden, The location is a liitle bit out of the town, so you need a car. But its perfect if you want to make a barbecue and sit outside long in the evenings. You don't need to be silent.

With the car you can make perfect trips from there to the hole Island. To Palma you go by highway and need about 50 min.

It was a perfect shorttrip and I really can recommend the Sa Tanca Villa!!!
