The Balearic Islands region
The sedate resort of Puerto Pollensa stretches along a sheltered horseshoe-shaped bay lined with sandy beaches, set against the backdrop of the Boquer mountain range on the north coast of Mallorca. The resort has grown up around the scenic fishing port that serves the picturesque old Roman town of Pollensa, situated a few miles inland. Cafes, restaurants and tourist shops line on the famous pinewalk and the promenade along with some elegant hotels, which overlook the wide sandy beach and the bay, dotted with the colourful sails of yachts. Puerto Pollensa is renowned for hosting some of the best fish restaurants on Mallorca. While this is undoubtedly so, there is also a wide selection of restaurants catering to all tastes.
Puerto Pollensa offers all the usual watersports enjoyed by holidaymakers, with facilities and equipment available from various operators at the marina and along the beach. Glass bottom boat trips are available from the port. There are also opportunities for hiking along walking trails in the surrounding hills and scenic mountains. Sightseeing in the port itself and the neighbouring old town, particularly on foot, is an interesting option.
Excursions to the lighthouse at Cap Formentor, along a hair-raising but beautiful drive, are popular, also trips to other places of interest on Mallorca. On the outskirts of the adjacent resort of Cala San Vicente there are ancient burial caves. The island is small, and no matter where you start from on Mallorca no destination is more than 75 miles (120km) away. Generally, though, most visitors come to Puerto Pollensa purely for relaxation on the magnificent beaches.

"Excellent apartment in perfect location"
We recently spent 12 nights in this apartment and it was everything we hoped it would be. It was very spacious, perfectly located in terms of the shops, bars and numerous restaurants in Puerto Pollensa and had the most amazing seaview. We spent many an evening just sitting on the balcony drinking wine and watching the world go by. In the mornings we also had breakfast out there although the only criticism we had was that it was too hot, even from very early on in the morning, and we found ourselves in dire need of an umbrella to create a little shade. We did request one but nothing was forthcoming before we left, although one may have been provided afterwards. The apartment is very well stocked with everything you could possibly need and even has a small utility room with a large fridge freezer (in addition to the fridge in the kitchen) and a washing machine which was very useful indeed. There is no air conditioning and we did find the apartment a little warm at night but it wasn't unbearable and that certainly wouldn't put us off booking again. The apartment is over a great little bar which plays varied music and has a lovely atmosphere (no late night music though). We went into the old town of Pollensa 4 times which is highly recommended - a beautiful town with countless great restaurants and a fabulous market on Sundays. Although we had a hire car we used the excellent bus service instead to avoid problems with car parking which cost only 1.5 euros each. When the buses stop running in the evening, a taxi costs only 9 euros to get back to the port. With regard to restaurants in the old town we would highly recommend La Trencadora and also Cantonet both of which served great food in a beautiful setting. In Puerto Pollensa itself we liked Na Ruixa and Osteria but you are well and truly spoilt for choice and we found ourselves asking for recommendations to avoid having to make a choice. If you have a car, then take the trip to La Victoria on the other side of the bay (you have to drive through Alcudia to reach it). It is set up in the mountains and has amazing views - the food is fairly average and a little pricey - but it is worth it for the drive and view when you get there. If you do have a car we would also recommend driving the mountain route to Soller and taking the old tram down to Port de Soller - a lovely day out. Overall, we had a great holiday which was also very relaxing and we would have no hesitation in recommending Cabanellas.

"What A View"
We came across this apartment whilst looking for somewhere in Puerto Pollensa, and really liked the look of it straight away, we finaly booked it for September 2012, and were not disapointed. Booking was very easy and done by E mail and over the phone the next morning, and that was it pay a part deposit and the balance on arrival thats the apartment booked When we arrived at the apartment we were not disapointed a good size lounge with plenty of equipment, we had a good sized bathroom, and bedroom, but the best part was the next morning when we opened the doors onto the balcony Absolutley Fabulous, the views and the atmosphere of the place was brilliant just sitting there people watching, we spent a lot of time on that balcony. Their are a couple of Issues one being the Tv which is not Sattelite but just a Digibox that picks up All the spanish Channels, we also had intermittent problems with the hot water but always had hot showers. All in all we had a fantastic week and have already booked again for next year in the same apartment

"Location, location, location"
This is a really nice apartment in a great location. The pedestrianised seafront (The Pine Walk) with its huge variety of restaurants and cafes is within a five minute stroll, more local, budget eateries are just a few paces outside the front door, cycle hire and watersports centres are on the opposite side of the street, some very chilled bars are less than two blocks away, the start of a a wildlife walk around a small estuary just is next to the cycle hire, and with a small supermarket in the same block and a very large supermarket ten minutes walk away, it is extremely well placed. The harbour beach with lifeguard and loungers is right opposite the apartment, although the wider, more touristy beach is only a short stroll away. The bus station is very close, with buses to Alcudia and the Sunday Market in Pollenca (not to be missed). The apartment is fully equipped (except for a hairdryer) and has a washing machine so that you don't have to carry such a heavy suitcase! The balcony is huge, with plenty of room, and gets the sun until mid afternoon. There is only one bedroom but we moved one of the beds into the living room and it worked really well. We had one small problem and it was dealt with efficiently and speedily by the owner. All in all the only niggle was a flight of steps to negotiate with shopping. |I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a beautiful view to contemplate whilst having a chilled, relaxing time in a very laid back place - look no further!

Few hiccups with hot water and an uncomfortable sofa bed but the setting was perfect and the apartment equipped and clean.
