The Lanzarote region
Lanzarote is the perfect destination for a fabulous sunshine holiday. It lies in a sub-tropical location just 80 miles from Africa and enjoys lovely weather throughout the year, which has led to a fascinatingly diverse landscape.
There are many sites to see that have been created by the volcanic activity over thousands of years: Timanfaya National Park is an amazing phenomenon, where if you push a stick into the ground it will catch fire immediately due to the heat in the ground. Cuevas de los verdes (the green caves) are lava tunnels produced by volcanic eruptions.
The Puerto del Carmen area
Puerto del Carmen: Situated on the Coast this is the liveliest and most popular resort on the Island. It as developed along side a long curve of gently sloping fine dark sand, which stretches to Playa de los Pocillos and Matagorda, it is very rarely overcrowded .Puerto del Carmen is very well equipped for water sports scuba diving, deep sea fishing and windsurfing to name a few. The coastal promenade houses many fine restaurants, bars and shops. The finest fish restaurants can be found in the Old Town which centres a small fishing harbour.

This villa made up the 2nd week of our stay in Lanzarote. The first week was in the old town and a villa the we felt was very much 'undersold'-it had the wow factor in many ways and although decoratively was not as nice as Villa Olivier it was 3 times the size, with private grounds, pool, BBQ, PS3, Pool table, full satellite etc in an exclusive area of the town. This for £400 a week less than Olivier. We are a family of 4 with (at the time of visiting) our 2 and 5yr old daughters. When planning the visit we were reassured that the villa was suitable for our party, even with the steps and the decor etc. However, on arrival and reading the welcome folder with the numerous 'rules' listed it stated the villa was in fact not suitable for young children-and we agree. Having to completely remove suncream before entering the pool was not 100% feasible due to the age of our children . The decor with vases and accessories (that yes made this villa a home not rental property) had to all be moved when we arrived (out of their reach). In honesty we did not feel we could relax. Our girls are very well behaved and respect property but they are very young. The villa overlooks a piece of wasteland and you access up a side path with steps...again with the buggy etc not great and not the prettiest view. We stayed at this end of town the previous year and found that location considerably closer to all the amenities than Olivier-again this was highlighted due to the young ages of our children. The pool, which we were very excited about did not give the expected 'wow' as we walked in-it is lovely but did not feel anything like the size stated-we can only assume due to its shape it has been measured at its widest parts, which are not truly representative of the overall size (due to the Jacuzzi section). The fact you have to pay by coin meter for the air con seems a contradiction with this villa being marketed as the best you could expect. The size of the villa would be fine for 4 people but is not particularly spacious-the three previous villas rented have all been larger than anticipated (we did a 2 villa holiday in 2010) so again our expectation would have been based on this to some degree. We did not write in the visitors book as I do feel if you have little positive to say best say nothing, however this review has been prompted by a request to leave feedback on Tripadvisor. Overall, I am very sad to say we would not return to Villa Olivier.I do not write this lightly as I know Eric the owner will be very unhappy with this. It seems that many visitors feel this villa is amazing, unfortunately we for us it simply wasnt the case-we feel this villa over promised and under delivered. |

We loved staying at Villa L'Olivier , it was in a great location close to the beach and just a short walk to the many bars and restaurants that Puerto Del carmen has to offer. The quality of furnishings and comfort was excellent, and the welcome pack was great. Having stayed in so many villas over the years in Lanzarote this was by far the best we have ever stayed in. We enjoyed it so much we will be returning in Feb 2012. The cleaners were exceptional and did not disturb us at all . Many thanks to Eric for letting us stay in such a lovely place. |

It's even better than the pictures. My teenage children had lots to do and loved it. For myself and my husband it could not have been better. Everything is within easy walking distance. It Was so easy to book and eric is extremely helpful and trustworthy. Also, Lionel the villa manager was on hand if you needed anything and offered advice on sightseeing etc. I will definitely be returning to this villa as we had one of the most relaxing holidays ever. Thanks again form the Hickey family. |

Hi Eric and Pauline, just to say a big thank you, we have just had a wonderful holiday in your beautiful villa,sometimes after looking at pictures you are often dissapointed with the real thing but the villa is even better in the flesh.The service was second to none both with Lionel and the lovely maids,the villa was lovely an clean and fresh and it felt like home from home,beautifully furnished and extremely well equipped.
Also a big thank you for reccomending Antica, the food,staff and service were superb.

On arriving to the villa it was evident that it was top quality from opening the door to the grounds. Fantastic pool,and great outside living area the villa itself was very well laid out and sparkling clean.The kitchen has everything you could possibly want including utensils for the bbq which you can't resist to try. As the weather changed with very unusual storms for a couple of days there was plenty to do with a good selection of DVD,s, games,books,CD,s and satalite TV and also a very spacious covered patio area.The location was excellent with a 2 to 3 minute stroll to the beach and just a couple more to bars, shop and resturaunts The villa is very private and secure as we have a toddler [14 months] and a 11year old so this was ideal . We find it impossible to criticize the villa and its location as although we did'nt have the glorious weather we have had in the past in february we all had a brilliant time and can't wait to return . Many thanks to Eric & pauline for a well stocked welcome pack and a great villa.Not forgetting lionel and the maids who were very pleasant and friendly

I can honestly say that this is a 5 star villa that is close to the beach, shops and restaurants. The pictures and description on the internet don't do it justice!
The villa is very comfortable and has everything you need to make your stay a very pleasant one.
It is very clean and well maintained by Lionel and the 4 cleaning ladies who do their utmost not to disturb your holiday.
Eric and Pauline made the organisation of our holiday straightforward and uncomplicated.
I would not hesitate to recommend this villa to friends and family.
