The Lanzarote region
Although quite small , there are many places to visit on Lanzarote. In the south, Playa Blanca (16kms)with the beautiful natural white beaches of Pappagayo.En route visit the Tymanfaya National park,have a camel ride and taste the food cooked over the heat from the live volcano.Pass through the wine growing area en route to the north.There you can visit Jameos Del Agua ,Mirador Del Rio, Cuevas De Las Verdes, all tourist areas created from the natural environs of Lanzarote by the great artist Ceasar Manrique.
Puerto del Carmen / Macher area
Macher is a great central location. 2 minutes to the up-market Marina Puerto Calero.5 minutes to the busy main resort of Puerto Del Carmen and 15 minutes to Playa Blanca in the south where you can catch a Ferry over to the Fuerteventura. There is a petrol station just a few minutes away with a well stocked supermarket selling fresh bread and pastries and a newly opened take-away with homecooked local dishes.Local Postoffice, and super Restaurants close by.
