The Lanzarote region

The Canary Islands are a popular winter-sun destination being less than four hours flying time from UK and boasting year round sunshine. Lanzarote is the most Easterly of the Islands and has a stunning volcanic landscape. The Montañas de Fuego (Fire Mountains) or Timanfaya form part of a broad area affected by volcanic eruptions that struck Lanzarote between 1730 and 1736, with subsequents eruptions in 1824. This long eruption preocess, one of the most significant and spectacular of the historic volcanism on Earth, drastically changed the morphology of the Island, leaving a quarter of it almost completely buried under a thick layer of lava and ash. Visiting La Cueva de los Verdes is truly a journey into the bowels of the ground, an spectacular and unique experience. The tunnel formed by the Corona Volcano is one of the most extensive and interesting planet. Along their journey, there are at least sixteen Jameos (opening or mouth area that allows access to different caves). More than six miles preface acquaintances from the crater of the volcano until it enters the sea in an underwater section of a mile called "Tunnel of Atlantis."

Los Jameos del Agua, like the Cueva de los Verdes, are located inside the volcanic tunnel created by the eruption of La Corona Vulcano. It owes its name to the existence of an internal lake which constitutes a unique geological formation. It originates by filtration through the rock which lies below sea-level

Puerto del Carmen

Lago Verde is a quiet complex although Puerto del Carmen offers a lively night-life along the Strip.

Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park on the outskirts of Puerto del Carmen is well-known for its animals and water park. They also host a Country Night and buses collect from all 3 main resorts in the island: Puerto del Carmen itself, Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise. A good night out, for both adults and children alike. Even if you have been there before, the programme is slightly changed every 3 or 4 months to keep it fresh. The show is on twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays. In the summer, from the 14th of July to the 30th of August, there is a 3rd night on Saturdays. The show starts at 7pm and it lasts until 11pm. The price costs €39 per adult and €20 for children aged 2 to 14 (Tickets for New Year's Eve are priced €55 and 30€, respectively).

There is a supplement of €5 for the bus. Tickets can be booked direct with the park or through various outlets on the island.
