The Lanzarote region
Lying in a sub tropical location just off the coast of West Africa, Lanzarote is really the perfect place to find fabulous sunshine in dramatic settings. Volcanic activity over thousands of years has produced unusual sights similar to a lunar landscape, such as the green lagoon of El Golfo. Fire Mountain in the Timanfaya National Park is another amazing phenomenon, where if a stick is pushed into the ground it will catch fire immediately due to the heat in the ground. Despite its mass of volcanic rocks, Lanzarote is by no means barren. Some of the volcanic soils are very fertile and the island has its own 'wine region' from which the deliciousMalvasia wine is produced. In the north of the island you will find Cueves de los Verdes (the green caves) which are lava tunnels produced by volcanic eruptions. They are one of the longest in the world, stretching 7 km below the sea and visitors can walk 1.5 km down into them.
Puerto del Carmen / Macher area
Macher -Finca Carolina is situate on the edge of the village of Macher. Just off the main Arrecife-Yaiza road, the village is centrally situated and offers a number of restaurants and a supermarket.
Puerto del Carmen - is a 5 minute drive away and situated on the south coast this is the livliest and most popular resort on the island. It has developed along side a long curve of gently sloping fine dark sand, which stretches to the attractive beach areas of Playa de los Pocillios and Matagorda. It rarely feels the pressure of being overcrowded. Puerto del Carmen is particuarly well equipped with marine activities, including scuba diving, deep sea fishing and wind surfing. The coastal promenade houses endless bars, restaurants, shops and some discos. The finest fish restaurants can be found in the 'Old Town' which centres on a small fishing harbour.
Puerto Calero is a lovely marina just south of Puerto del Carmen and is again a 5 minute drive away The Marina is a great place to wander, look at the fabulous boats and generally soak up a bit of the luxury atmosphere that permeates the whole place. You can certainly spend a few hours sat in one of the cafes or restaurants that overlook the marina without even realizing how long you have been there.
Sports If you want to do more than just sit, Puerto Calero is the base for a number of water based activites, such as the Catlanza catamaran trips, Submarine excursions and a variety of sport-fishing boats which allow you to try your skill at landing Marlin and Blue-fin Tuna in some of the best and most productive waters you can find.
How to get there
Because of the location of Finca Carolina, car hire is essential. There are a number of car rental companies with offices in the airport.
Full directions will be given and the drive from the airport to Finca Carolina approximately 15 minutes

Further details indoors: Tastefully furnished, the accommodation comprises one bedroom with double bed, side tables, wardrobe, dressing table and window looking out onto landscaped garden. The bathroom has walk-in shower, WC and basin (no bath). The lounge area has a sofa, occasionaly furniture, CD Mini HiFi, TV, full Satellite, DVD, Video and a selection of films and books. The dining area has a table and chairs for two people and the kitchen is fully equipped with storage units, electric hob, mini grill oven, refrigerator and a full compliment of utensils for self catering. The entrance door leads out onto a private patio area complete with patio furniture. The swimming pool is electircally heated during the winter months. Sun loungers are also provided and sunny days can be spent by the pool taking in the fantastic panoramic views of the countryside and coastline.
