About the home

Casa Colleen is in the exclusive quiet residential area of Risco Prieto, with panoramic mountain and sea views, yet is only a 10 minute walk to the beach beside the picturesque Old town and harbour in Puerto del Carmen.

The villa has its own heated pool with a shallow end and Roman steps complete with new non slip tiles perfect for children. The pool / balcony area, have pool loungers, BBQ and furnished with tables and chairs to enable you dine al fresco. All this with private entrance, high security wall, gate and railings, all surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens.

Inside the villa there are three large bedrooms, sleeps up to seven – One Superking size with en-suite, one Double bed and one twin/double bed, bedroom.

Large fully fitted kitchen, sitting room with satellite TV, DVD, CD and Internet access is available, sitting room / dining room with patio doors leading to terrace and pool.

Separate laundry with washer, dryer, and ironing facilities, all rooms furnished and decorated to a high standard. All linens provided.

Lockable safe fitted.

Casa Colleen is on a one way street which means that parking outside villa is not a problem.

The villa has its own private entrance, high security wall, gate and security bars fitted to windows, surrounded by lovely tropical gardens.

The roof is a natural sun trap with sun loungers and magnificent sea and mountain views.

Casa Colleen is located only 2/3 min walk to the local shops. There is a good supermarket, British Butcher, Hairdresser several pubs etc.We often use Marios bar for breakfast which is very handy.

The Lanzarote region

Lanzarote got her name from a Genoese sailor called Lancelotto, who landed here in 1312. In 1404, the island was conquered by Juan Bethencourt of Spain. They have remained under Spanish rule ever since. The most notorious event on the island was also one of the world's most devastating and longest volcanic eruptions which lasted from September 1730 until April 1736.

Farming has always been hard on the island, it is said that Lanzarote receives less rain per year than parts of the Sahara Desert, just 14cm. The main produce of the island today is Onions, 3/4 being exported to mainland Spain

And today ....... despite the ever increasing number of tourists visiting the Canary Islands, Lanzarote's local authorities have strict control over the development of the island. Houses must be painted white. There's no billboard advertising, no highrise buildings other than Arrecife's Grand Hotel .

The Puerto del Carmen / Old Town Puerto del Carmen area

There is always something to do.... something to be seen.... or somewhere to go, in Lanzarote. That’s probably its biggest attraction.
If you are a family with children or a couple looking for a romantic break there are the tours to all part of the island - Timanfaya National Park is well worth a visit. There is a great new Golf course the Lanzarote Golf Resort has now opened just outside Puerto del Carmen. The eighteen hole, 72 par course is 6,133 meters long and was designed by the well-known American golf course designer, Ron Kirby.
Several diving centres - the underwater life is something else and all are properly qualified, good surfing on the North side of the island. If you are into walking you can start at Casa Colleen and walk to Puerto Calero along the new cliff walk in about 45 minutes and you will be well rewarded when you get there as there are some lovely restaurants, Cafes and upmarket shops. If you go the other direction you can walk all the way to Arrecife, but you might want to get the bus back!
However most women seem to have a Black Belt in shopping and they won’t be disappointed as Biosphere Shopping centre is only about 10 minutes from villa with lots of good shops and bargains but don’t stop there head down the main strip or even into Arrecife. There’s plenty of good night life and lots of really good restaurants which won’t disappoint you.

From time to time, various airlines and holiday companies offer special deals to Lanzarote, so keep an eye out for these.

It is about 10 min by Taxi from Arreciffe airport in Lanzarote to the villa and should cost less than 15 Euro

Car hire is readily available at the airport and around the island – but generally is not needed unless you want to tour around the island of Lanzarote. There is a very good and very cheap local bus service and Taxis are also quite cheap.

From the villa it is only a short walk to local shops, supermarket, pub etc about 2/3 min. If you continue on from there to the Old Harbour there are lots of really very good restaurants about 5-10 min. walk. When finished there it’s only a short walk from the harbour area to the Biosphere Shopping Centre and all along the main strip which has the main beach facing the strip.
