This luxury apartment is located in the sought after development of Rosa de los Vientos on the edge of the picturesque Spanish village of Isla Plana with its own small harbour and selection of everyday shops, bank, pharmacy, restaurants and bars. It offers views over the Bay of Mazarron and is set against a backdrop of magnificent mountains.
The development is built on a headland with the sea on three sides and there is private gated access to the beach directly from the magnificent pool area. There are two children’s pools and a large adult pool all located in beautiful mature gardens. The pool area is exclusive to residents and is accessed by gates to which the residents hold keys. In addition to the pool area and gardens there is also a floodlit tennis court and the development benefits from a day caretaker and a night time security officer. There is ample parking available in the development.
The apartment has air-conditioning and heating and the spacious accommodation includes an entrance hall, lounge / diner, separate kitchen, one double bedroom with king size bed and en-suite bathroom with full size bath and shower over. The second bedroom has twin single beds and the second bathroom is opposite containing a large enclosed shower area. Both bedrooms have large built in wardrobes and ceiling fans. The Costa Calida/Murcia region
The Costa Calida (The warm coast) is the coastal area of the Murcia region in south eastern Spain. The area enjoys some of the best weather in Spain and rainfall is very scarce. The main industries are agriculture and fishing. The area is also referred to as the salad bowl of Europe because of the amount of fruit and vegetables produced annually. Here on the Costa Calida we enjoy temperatures in summer which can range from thirty plus degrees on the coast and up to forty plus degrees inland.
The coast is normally cooled by gentle sea breezes which makes it more pleasant. There are plenty of things to do in the Murcia region if you tire of the beach life. The area is steeped in rich history dating back to Roman times and beyond. Be sure to visit the capital city of the region Murcia which is less than one hour from Isla Plana and take time to stroll around its narrow streets and lanes and discover some wonderful architecture. The cathedral in Murcia is well worth a visit.
The second city of the region is Cartagena only twenty five minutes drive from the apartment. Here you can spend a leisurely day soaking up the atmosphere of this old Roman City. The city is still a working naval port and is also a stop over point for Mediterranean cruise liners. Be sure to try the tapas served in all the café bars for a real taste of Spain.
Further afield in the region you can visit the wine region of Jumilla in the northeast or Bullas in the northwest. Both areas are well worth a day trip. If nature is your scene be sure to visit the Sierra Espuña National Park where you can go walking, mountain biking, quad biking or just soak up the atmosphere of the flora and fauna. Have lunch in one of the restaurants in the park and you might be lucky enough to see the wild boar come down to the restaurant for tit bits as you enjoy your coffee after your meal.
For those looking for wet and wild water adventure visit Terra Natura at Murcia or the water park at Vera just over an hour away on the new motorway from Mazarron to Vera. The region boasts two major health spas at Archena and Fortuna both accessible on day trips.
If you are into golf you will be spoilt for choice with the number of courses to choose from and all within reasonable travelling distance. For the shoppers there are a number of new shopping malls throughout the area. The biggest ones being in Murcia and Cartagena.
Puerto De Mazarron area
The apartment is situated at Isla Plana just outside Puerto de Mazarron a typical old fashioned Spanish working port and seaside holiday destination for both Spanish families and foreigners alike. It is five minutes drive from the apartment or about forty-five minutes walk along the coastal track and beach. Puerto de Mazarron has everything that one needs for day to day living. It has plenty of supermarkets, shops, banks, pharmacies, café bars and restaurants.
Because the port is a working fishing port and with two catches of fresh fish being landed daily the menus in the restaurants and bars have an abundance of fresh fish dishes. Paella is the big favourite here and normally needs to be ordered in advance. There is also a large selection of choice for meat eaters with pork, chicken and lamb being the main favourites.
The area is very safe for families as the Spanish culture generally puts family first. The area is still predominately Spanish about 70%. There are a number of blue flag beaches in the Mazarron Bay area and you will be spoilt for choice. The area tends to be very busy in July and August when Spanish holidaymakers who have holiday homes here come to enjoy the facilities. Even in high season the beaches are never overcrowded, this is because of the number of beaches spread out all along the bay. Water sports are available in summer season and also boat hire.
In recent years Puerto de Mazarron has had a new marina built so be sure to have a stroll down there after dinner and have a cocktail or two whilst listening to live entertainment from the bars or street entertainers. For the shoppers and bargain hunters there is a large open air market every Sunday in Puerto de Mazarron. The nearest golf course is at Camposol which is only twenty minutes drive while the Hacienda del Alamo course is only forty minutes away and the famous La Manga Club is only one hour away.
On the other side of Isla Plana you will find the old fishing village of La Azohia. This is well worth a visit and if you are feeling energetic you can walk here from the apartment mostly along a promenade from Isla Plana village. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from in La Azohia. The main sport here is diving, fishing and walking and there are many diving schools in the area. Back in Isla Plana be sure to visit the social club with its new terrace overlooking the church and sea. Enjoy home cooked tapas here washed down with a good house wine or any bottled beer at only 1€ per bottle.
How to get there
Most of the low cost airlines fly into Murcia (San Javier) airport which is 45 mins drive away. Both Alicante airport or Almeria airport are 90 mins drive away. There is a new international airport under construction at Corvera which is about 45 mins drive from Isla Plana. This is due to open at the end of 2010.

Further details indoors: The spacious lounge / diner is furnished in a modern and comfortable style which includes a three seat double bed settee and two individual arm chairs rocking type, a television with DVD, a dining table and six chairs. The lounge opens on to the balcony terrace which has views over the bay located 100 metres from the apartment. The balcony has a table and chairs where you can enjoy the evening shade after a long hot day.
Both bedrooms have fitted wardrobes, ceiling fans and also have patio doors which open onto the balcony. All rooms have air-conditioning / heating installed. All windows in lounge / diner and bedrooms have roller shutters.
Access to this fourth floor apartment is by a spacious lift or by the stairs. The building has secure access.
Further details outdoors: The apartments enjoy private access to their swimming pool, paddling pools and garden area. Mature palm trees beside the pool offer shade, or for the sunshine enthusiast the garden is supplied with decking and out -door showers. There are also poolside toilets available.
The pool and gardens have uninterrupted views of the beach which is less than 100 metres away and can be accessed directly. You can view some spectacular sunsets over Puerto de Mazarron from the pool area.
The apartments all share access to their private tennis court which can be used at any time because of flood-lighting. Parking is available at the front of the apartments.
The apartments are situated on a headland between two bays. One offers an extensive sandy beach which is safe for swimming and is also used by surfers. The other bay is more secluded and lined with pebbles and is ideal for snorkelling /diving.

Conditions
A 20% deposit is payable at the time of booking and the balance is payable 6 weeks prior to your holiday. For late bookings (i.e. Less than 6 weeks in advance) the total amount is payable on the date of booking. We accept cash, British pounds, Euros, cheques or bank transfers.
A refundable breakages deposit of 200 Euros/200 pounds is payable with each booking, this is refunded within 14 days of the end of your holiday when the apartment has been checked over. Check out time is 12.00 noon on day of departure unless special arrangements have been made and agreed in writing at time of booking.
Check in time is from 16.00 this is to facilitate cleaning and preparation of apartment.
