The Canary Islands region
Lanzarote is the most popular all year-round villa holiday destination in the Canary Islands. Only 100 kilometres from the coast of Africa, Lanzarote has a year-round warm climate and a wonderful selection of extraordinary private holiday villas. Less than four hours flying time from most European cities, Lanzarote offers superb beaches, facilities and lots of activities for the entire family. Lanzarote has been designated a World Biosphere Reserve for its miles of glorious beaches and its dramatic, fascinating scenery created by its volcanic past.
Throughout the island, overlooking beaches, in villages and resorts there is an excellent variety of local and international cuisine, much specialising in its wealth of local fish. The island’s small size and reasonable roads, coupled with inexpensive car hire, makes self-drive an attractive option giving visitors complete freedom to tour the island at their leisure. Two sophisticated world class marinas attract the international yachting fraternity and offer superb sea excursions, game fishing and boat charters. Geographically part of North Africa, but benefiting from the cooling effect of the surrounding Atlantic and culturally as well as politically part of Spain, Lanzarote is an established, favourite, year round villa holiday destination, with many families returning year after year and through the generations.
Puerto Calero is the first and most famous marina on Lanzarote. It was designed and built to attract the worlds most glamorous super yachts and offers an accordingly sophisticated atmosphere. Many exclusive regattas are hosted here and attract members of the Spanish royal family along with famous sports people. A variety of restaurants are located along the waterfront with charming views of the hustle and bustle of the marina. Shops and a supermarket are on site and there ample taxis to whisk clients off to other island attractions. The Canarian Cetacean Museum, the only dolphin and whale museum in Spain, offers a unique opportunity to learn about these fascinating creatures, their sounds and habits through over two hundred exhibits. A selection of excellent excursions leave from the marina. They include a submarine diving adventure, catamaran sailing, big game fishing and the possibility of chartering yachts and luxury cruisers. Alternatively a water taxi or bus service links the area with the main resort of Puerto del Carmen, clients with cars can drive there in under five minutes. The resort is home to five kilometers of spectacular, golden beaches. Puerto Calero is a fifteen minute transfer from the airport.

"Excellent quiet location"
House was very clean and appeared as per photos. Not luxurious but well appointed. Pool was warm enough to use, we put the cover on every evening. We chose the house for its location, it has a great view. Puerto Calero was very quiet during our stay, we had just one quiet neighbour. Restaurants are within an easy walk and enough to allow for a weeks worth of eating out. Submarine and catlanza provided good trips out.
We were given the wrong key code so on arrival at 20.00 we couldn't get our key. Local contact phone numbers were not answered. Spoke to somebody in UK who went off to try to find help. Meanwhile the local security guard happened to pass by and managed to find and correct the error. 45 minutes later we were in.
