The Costa del Sol region
It all started In 1946 when Prince Alfonso Von Hohenlohe paid a visit to Marbella and fell in love with the area and its people, in 1950 the Marbella Club opened and the story began. Marbella is located in Andalucia which is Spain's most southerly region and for those interested in culture it has a rich and fascinating past. The historic medina cities of Granada, Seville and Jerez are only a three hour drive away. Closer to Marbella, Malaga the home of Picasso is an easy one hour drive East and Westward lies the Old rock of Gibraltar, that little piece of Empire still sitting as a thorn in Spain's side! The Costa del Sol is famous for its sun and warm weather, Marbella in particular enjoys a unique micro -climate which means that with a little luck you should be able to enjoy Christmas lunch on the beach. Sept - May are the ideal months for playing Golf as a cooling breeze rises from the Mediterranean Sea. During the Winter there is also excellent Skiing to be enjoyed in the Sierra Nevadas just 3 hours drive away. For those wishing to immerse deeper into the Spanish culture then Ronda is the home of Bull Fighting , with the oldest Bullring in Spain. Fights are also regularly staged in Marbella on Sunday evenings.
The Puerto Banus / Andalucia del Mar area
Andalucia del Mar is ideally situated to enjoy all the attractions of Puerto Banus and Marbella. An excellent Spa ,health and beauty centre including gym and indoor pool is 100 metres away. daily /weekly membership available. A pharmacy and convenience store for morning papers, fresh bread etc are all within walking distance. This apartment is ideally located for those looking for a day on the beach, a little shopping perhaps, then a leisurely meal on the Port or one of the terraces. For Golfers there are over 30 courses available on the Coast, the nearest being a 5 min car journey away.
Puerto Banus is home to Millionaires Row (Mega yachts), enjoying cocktails at Salduba and Sinatra bar, a meal at one of the Portside restaurants or a spot of window shopping in one of the designer boutiques.
Marbella, 5 km along the coast is a calmer affair and the Old Town is the place to head in the evening, take a cool drink in the fragrant Orange Square before dining in one of the many local restaurants.
If you like Markets then there are a number to choose from: Saturday Market at Puerto Banus Bull ring (10 Mins walk), Monday Market in Marbella and Thursday Market in San Pedro.
