The apartment is fully equipped with DVD/CD player with surround-sound in the living room, DVD player in the master bedroom, LCD TVs (in Living room and Master bedroom), all the kitchen appliances and comes with two large marble bathrooms with heated floors.The apartment is centrally air-conditioned and heated, but the location in the hills above Marbella makes for a marvelous climate and outdoor lifestyle all year round.
The living room has a large leather sofa and two easy chairs and the dining table seats 6 persons. In addition, the bright and spacious kitchen looks out on to a bar area and the bar chairs can be used for quick breakfasts. The very large patio/veranda has a large table and six chairs as well as two lounge/sunning chairs. The views from the patio are fabulous and you will be tempted to eat all your meals here. The master bedroom comes with a built-in electronic safe with codes that you can set yourself. The complex has 24 hour security.
The very large and bright kitchen has every item that could be required. All materials are supplied including crockery and cutlery, cooking utensils and all appliances. The kitchen has a full size Bosch fridge/freezer, built-in dishwasher and microwave/broiler. The washing machine also doubles as a dryer. All appliances are brand new. Breakfast can be taken on the lovely patio or at the kitchen bar. Shopping for groceries can be done at one of two supermarkets within 1 km of the apartment. Bed linen and towels are provided although guests are welcome to bring their own (particularly for long stays). The central A/C and heater has simple one touch controls.

The Costa del Sol region


The Costa del Sol stretches from the lovely town of Nerja in the east all the way down to Algericas and Gibraltar in the west and is the prime holiday spot in Spain and Southern Europe. The Costa is part of the province of Andalucia which was the once-great stronghold of Moorish Spain and boasts of beautiful cities rich in history and tradition like Seville, Granada, Cordoba and the sherry-producing town of Jerez de la Frontera. Each of these cities has visible remnants of the Moors, such as the Alhambra in Granada and the Mesquita in Cordoba, and can be reached within a couple of hours from Marbella.
The Costa del Sol is also known as the Costa del Golf and boasts of about 40 championship level courses that are either located in Marbella or can be reached within a 40 minutes drive from Marbella.
Climate is moderate and temperate with pleasantly warm, dry summers and mild winters with wonderfully crisp and sunny days. Marbella and Nueva Andalucia lie in the shadow of the famous quartz mountain and have a microclimate that is unique on the coast. In summer, when Seville records temperatures of 40 degrees plus, Marbella is about 29 degrees and in winter the temperature seldom falls below 10 degrees. This truly makes it a year-round resort.
The Puerto Banus / Nueva Andalucia area
Marbella is perhaps at the centre of all that is happening on the Costa del Sol. Consists of the old town (see below), the city itself and the stretch to Puerto Banus. Nueva Andalucia, as its name implies, is a new area opened up recently to development, stretching up the hillside from Puerto Banus. It is still mostly residential, with a few restaurants and supermarkets interspersed amidst the villas, golf courses and low rise apartments. The road up to Nueva Andalucia from Puerto Banus/Marbella is most picturesque with pink bouganvillae spilling over the walls of white-washed villas. From Nueva Andalucia, and from the apartment in particular, you can gaze down at the slopes that stretch all the way to the sea. On a clear day (nearly all the time), the rock of Gibraltar is clearly visible off on the right. Main areas of interest nearby are:
Puerto Banus (10 mins) : Exclusive and famous luxury yacht marina with boutiques,shops, bars, restaurants. Centre of night life activity. Place to see and be seen.
Marbella old town: (20 mins): Beautiful and charming old Spanish town with lovely, narrow streets, restaurants, churches, shops and bars. Can be visited during the day or at night. Particularly charming at night. Most restaurants here, as elsewhere in the area, favour al fresco dining. Its great to relax, drink some wine, eat fabulous food and watch people go by.
Mijas: (45 mins); Lovely old town hanging on to the steep slopes well above the town of Fuengirola. Great restaurants and beautiful narrow and steep streets make this a place you want to visit over and over again.
Ronda: (1 hour): Another gem of a town perched above a deep gorge, easily accessible by car from Marbella.
Ojen: (30 mins): A small, quaint town perched on a hillside and overlooking a large reservoir. Quiet, cobblestone streets, cafes and even a small winery.
Most activities focus on the nearby beaches, restaurants and people watching at Puerto Banus. Activities can be as hectic or as slow as you like, depending on your preference on a particular day. There are about 40 world-class golf courses within an hour's drive of Nueva Andalucia, including the Marbella Country Club which is within walking distance of the apartment. An abundance of water sports are available including para-sailing, jet-skiing. In the winter months, a short drive leads to the Sierra Nevada mountains nearby for (snow) skiing.

From Malaga (nearest major airport):
Malaga airport is served from UK (BA, Easyjet, Monarch, BMI and other UK discount carriers, etc), Frankfurt (Lufthansa), Paris (AF), Zurich (Swiss), Amsterdam (KLM) as well as by Iberia through Madrid and other European points.
Best way is to rent a car at Malaga airport, though buses/taxis are available as well. Malaga airport has counters for Avis, Hertz, Europcar and local companies. Easycar is also available. Cars may also be hired in most major towns along the Costa del Sol. If you book your car rental with your airline ticket, there is a better chance of getting a good discount.
From Malaga to Apartment: By Car. Head out of the airport exit and follow signs for A7/N340, direction: Algericas/Cadiz (West). You have two choices- to stay on A7/N340 OR take the toll highway known as AP7 or E15. The first is the preferable option and is almost as fast. Note that along the way, the A7 and AP7 sometimes merge and then separate. Entrances to Toll Highway AP7 appear 3-4 times along the route. Just stay on A7/N340 all the way and remain alert to this situation.
The free highway A7 is called Autovia del Meditarraneo and the toll highway AP7 is called Autopista del Meditarraneo.
Take the airport exit road and go straight through the roundabout. You will see San Miguel beer brewery on the right. Keep in right lane and exit following signs for ALGERICAS/CADIZ. You are heading west all the way on the highway. You will now enter a local highway. Stay in right lane and take second exit to A7 direction Algericas/Cadiz. Just stay on A7 all the way past the cities of Benalmadena, Fuengirola. After entering the Marbella area the highway divides into AP7 (left lanes) and A7 (right lanes). Stay on A7 and you will go through a tunnel. This is the only tunnel on the way. After the tunnel, stay in the right lane and take the third exit after the tunnel. It will say Puerto Banus/Nueva Andalucia. You will see a big shopping centre on the left called Costa de Marbella. Take this exit.
The exit ramp divides into two. Take the left fork for Nueva Andalucia. Go straight uphill slightly through the first 2 roundabouts. At the third roundabout enter at 6 oçlock and exit at 2 oçlock . Keep going. You will soon pass Mercadona – a supermarket on your left and approach the 4th roundabout. This is a large roundabout. Take the first right turn on this roundabout. Continue along and see several restaurants on your right, OpenCor 24/7 minimarket on your right, a tennis court and some more restaurants. You will now come to the 5th roundabout.
Enter at 6 oçlock and exit the roundabout at 11 oclock, i.e. third exit off this roundabout. Continue straight. You will pass a restaurant on the right called El Picadero. Immediately after this you will see a sign in the middle of the road that says Supermazana H. Just before this sign make a sharp right turn. Pass the tennis courts and go steeply uphill. Pass the Marbella Country Club. You will come to a T-junction. Make a right. Go down a bit and then steeply uphill. You will see Las Tortugas on the right. Continue uphill for about 50 metres until you see Gate No 3. Stop here. Press the bell for apartment 312. You have arrived!
Toll Highway AP7: Stay on Toll Autopista AP7/E15. After about 40 minutes you will go through a tunnel. After emerging from tunnel take the San Pedro exit. You are now a few kms west of Marbella. Drive towards N340 direction Malaga. Within 3 kms, you will see the exit for Puerto Banus/Nueva Andalucia. Take the exit and follow directions as above.
By bus: There are several buses that ply the Malaga-Marbella route daily. The Information counter at the airport can assist with timings and fares.

Our stay at Sanjay and Monica Modak's apartment at Las Tortugas de Aloha made us question booking a hotel for vacation ever again. We had the pleasure of staying here in early November, and are still feeling the effects of the relaxing retreat. The apartment is in a perfect location. It's conveniently located near several grocery stores and restaurants and you can easily access main roads to quickly get to surrounding sites and beaches. The apartment has a designated garage spot, but you can also park on the street. We had no problem parking right in front of the entrance each day. Compared to other rental properties we've stayed in, this apartment was immaculate beyond belief. The home is so well cared for - the bed linens, towels, furniture, etc. feel brand new. As we're people who like to cook almost every night, we were blown away by the kitchen. It literally has every tool and appliance you could ever need, much better stocked than our own home! With such wonderful indoor and outdoor dining spaces, it's a pleasure to cook in the apartment. We ate all of our meals outside on the sprawling patio - our favorite feature of the space. It's the perfect spot for sunbathing and reading with a beautiful view all the way down to the coast. We really can't recommend it enough to anyone looking to plan a vacation in the Marbella/Andalucia area. |

Las Tortugas de Aloha is situated in the best location possible, you have spectacular views of the whole of Nueva Andalucia and the sea, the apartment is very modern and tastefully decorated to a high standard and would be suitable for all types of holidays makers whether it be families or couples! In addition to this, you have the luxury of being in a very quiet area, whilst only being 5 minutes away from the Marina by car, where there a range of amazing shops and restaurants to choose from. My party consisted of two young couples and we had a fantastic time staying in this apartment. My family and I spent almost three weeks in July of 2010, at the apartment of Sanjay and Monica Modak, in Las Tortugas, and I must say what a wonderful place that was. The complex is well situated in the foothills of the Andalucian mountains, and only 10 mins drive to the towns of Puerto Banus and Marbella. It really has the best of both worlds – the quiet, sweeping vista view fo the area sloping down to the sea, yet very close to the heartbeat of the town.
The apartment is extremely well equipped, and clearly gives the feeling of having been furnished by the owners, rather than some soulless hotel room. Two large bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, Audio / Visual, and a magnificent verandah to sit out and dine, over looking the area ( which is a haven for golfers ) – I cannot recommend it enough. To be sure, we shall be seeking to go back. During the summer, this part of Spain is magnificent, and is well located to access the well developed road system to travel to many other parts off this wondrous province.

Over the years I have stayed in many apartments which never quite live up to the pictures seen on the internet prior to booking….Until we arrived at this apartment.
We had the most fantastic time, the apartment was absolutely gorgeous and spotless, it was equipped with everything we needed for a large family.
The ample balcony gave a lovely escape in the evenings whilst the children chilled out watching DVD's in the lounge after a busy day spent by the pool, and allowed us to relax over dinner whilst sampling the local wines.
We will definitely return next year…hopefully for the whole Summer holiday?!
