The Costa del Sol/Malaga region
The Costa del Sol is the most southerly coast of Spain. This is where the unspoiled farming and vineyard mountain regions meet bustling cities and marinas, secluded coves and beachfront promenades.
On this coast there is something for everyone. It has been developed specifically for tourism and prides itself on world-class championship Golf Courses, over 30 including the famous Valderama course.
Sierra Nevada, the Andalucian Lakes and numerous national parks are all within 2 hours drive from the Costa del Sol providing unspoiled dramatic scenery and the ultimate in recreational activities.
For non-golfers there are established attractions such as the marinas of Puerto Banus, Marbella, Puerto de La Duquesa and Sotogrande as well as many traditional white washed mountain villages and fishing towns.
The natural beauty of the area is enhanced by over 300 days of sun a year as well as lush green landscapes providing an abundance of recreational activities.
Puerto Banus / Nueva Andalucia area
Nueva Andalucia sits just to the West of Marbella. This luxurious, green Southern Spanish wonderland features numerous award-winning golf clubs, yummy international cuisine, and two superb casinos. On Saturday mornings, you can wonder through the ‘rastro’ (flea market) to get a real taste of Spanish markets and pick out delightful collectibles. You can also visit the Nueva Andalucia bullring for bullfights and other special in-town events.
Nueva Andalucia is close to the nearby cosmopolitan centres of Marbella and Puerto Banus. However, it's far enough away from these towns to offer unparalleled privacy and seclusion. You can visit the Central Plaza and dine on everything from vendor food to gourmet Spanish tapas. If you get too full, you can work out in the Nueva Andalucia gymnasium or simply stroll through the countryside and gaze at the enchanting Mediterranean coast only a few miles away.
All told, Nueva Andalucia boasts four of the Costa del Sol's most prized golf courses. Links like Las Brisas and Dama de la Noche offer exquisite, emerald green fairways. Make sure to make your tee time reservations well in advance, particularly during the busy holiday seasons.
