The Costa del Sol region
Families, golfers, couples & groups of friends alike will find all they could want for in this picturesque area of Spain. The mountains of the Sierra Blanca are the backdrop to this area of coast which offers National Parks & beaches to explore as well as sophisticated towns such as Marbella & Puerto Banus within 15 minutes. The Spanish charm is retained by way of customs, food, drink & the festivals, which are great fun to see & join in with.
With an average of over 300 days of sunshine a year & very mild winters, it has been known that you can enjoy temperatures in the 70s in December. This makes for a mainly outdoor way of life here so sun-bathing, golf, walking, enjoying al fresco dining or a coffee in Puerto Banus marina whilst people watching are possible all year round.
Children - great places to visit include, Selwo Marina which has a dolphinarium, Selwo Adventure park where you are driven in open sided trucks through animal enclosures, a crocodile park, Tivoli World which is a great fun theme park & a number of water parks. This is all of course in addition to some good old fun on the beach or in the swimming pool!
Eating & drinking - traditional tapas bars where you can eat the delicious small dishes of food washed down by cold beer or wine. There are a variety of restaurants & bars in lively Puerto Banus which suit all budgets & where you can also do some people watching. You will find a great atmosphere in Plaza de los Naranjos (Orange square) in the old town of Marbella; wander through the cobbled alleyways & choose a restaurant to sit back in & enjoy a great dinner.
Walking & hiking - there are numerous marked walks through the Andalucian hills & mountains. Great views can be found at Refugio De Juanar in the heart of the Sierra Blanca behind Marbella - you can either do a short walk to the viewing point or if you have your stout shoes with you, then it's possible to descend the mountain back down into Marbella. If you prefer to stay on the flat, then stroll with the locals along the promenade from San Pedro to Puerto Banus & on to Marbella.
Shopping & markets – the markets are great for bargain hunting or if you like designer shops head for Marbella or Puerto Banus.
Other Activities - within 15 minutes of the apartment there are quad biking & water-skiing centres & at Los Arqueros there are tennis courts & a gym. Horse trekking is also organised locally.
The Puerto Banus / Los Arqueros/San Pedro area
The apartment is on Los Arqueros golf course which gives great views to the mountains & down the coast to Gibraltar. The Clubhouse is just 15 minutes walk away & has a great bar & restaurant with a terrace which gives panoramic views & is open to everyone. There is a driving range & practice area here as well as tennis courts.
Just 10 minutes away are San Pedro & Puerto Banus beaches which have quiet areas as well as busier ones with play areas & beach bars.
Within 15 minutes of the apartment is Selwo Adventure Park & there are quad biking & water-skiing centres, horse trekking & many other golf courses. Details & green fees can be seen on www.golf-service.com.
Taxis can be booked to pick you up to take you out for an evening - 15euros is the fare to Puerto Banus or Benahavis.
The local towns include:
San Pedro de Alcantara - this is a Spanish town only 2km away. You can do your day to day shopping here with the locals & the nearest supermarket, Mercadona, is on the way into the town. As it's used by locals you can do all your shopping at very reasonable prices such as fresh, giant prawns at 5euros a kilo!
Benahavis - within 10 minutes drive of the apartment, this is an ancient white village set in the mountains. Still a small village, the many restaurants in the plaza & narrow mountain streets, have received much acclaim over the years. Most restaurants have terraces with wonderful views to the mountains.
Ronda - is a beautiful 45 minutes drive through the mountains & well worth the visit. It hangs on the side of a gorge & has many streets filled with shops & restaurants to explore.

Apartment beautifully laid out, tastefully furnished and had everything we needed. Upon pulling back the curtains and opening the balcony doors we were met with a stunning panorama that immediately had us feeling relaxed with mountains to the right a view of the sea to the left and part of the golf course in front. The pool area was lovely (our kids loved it) never too crowded with ample sunbeds and sun shades to go around and all this set in lovely well maintained grounds. We hired a car to explore the area. Lovely choice of restaurants in white washed Benahavis 10 minutes away by car the same as Puerto Banus although here it was more expensive and crowded. Drive to Rhonda stunning but try to go early morning as it gets very hot there. Local beach Cancelda 5 mins from San Pedro towards Estepona very nice with easy parking and a couple of beach bars . After Marbella is Cabopina with a lovely little marina and a sandy child friendly beach. Two supermarkets within 2km of apartment. Not enough time to write all the positive things but don't take our word for it try it yourself you won't be disappointed.

The apartment was lovely, had every home comfort needed. The views from the balcony were outstanding taking in the lovely views of the pool, golf course and the sea. This was a great base to explore Andalucia. Thanks for recommending the car hire company and for the great directions and mostly for renting your apartment.
We would definitely recommend this apartment to our friends and family. We look forward to returning in the future.

The apartment & position were perfect for a holiday in this area with our two teenagers. The accomodation was excellent, the setting perfect for chill-out days around the pool or relaxing on the balcony & was in a great position for exploring the coast & surrounding area, we even went to Gibraltar for the day. We had a great meal at the club house, although, you are spoilt for choice of places to eat within a 10 min drive. The holiday was a real success!
