The Famagusta District
Dear guests,
When you first step off the plane, you'll be wowed by those cloudless, vast blue skies. South East Cyprus enjoys sunny skies almost all year round. With long dry summers and mild winters, it's a destination to dream about.
In June, the average maximum temperature is 30 degrees and during July and August, 36 degrees. With cooling summer sea breezes and thirteen hours of sunshine in summer, it's a wonderful climate. If you want to escape from the rain, then this is the place to be: it's nearly rainless from May to September!
So you'll want to enjoy all those long, lazy days by your private pool!
Famagusta city, capital of the Famagusta District, is now a beautiful ghost-town, containing spectacular ruins, including a magnificent amphitheatre, Roman baths, a gymnasium, royal tombs and impressive mosaics. At Famagusta harbour , the deepest on the island, is a great citadel sometimes known as Othello's Tower in reference to the play by Shakespeare. It contains a splendid 14th century Gothic Hall.
Cape Greko, an area of great natural beauty can be reached in 5 minutes by car, south of our villa, if you just want to get away to silence and eerily beautiful landscapes, where rare migrating birds can be seen, along with flocks of flamingos.
But if the high life is what you want, then you could head for Ayia Napa, just fifteen minutes drive away, with its pretty marina, fabulous beaches, many restaurants, bars and buzzing nightclubs for those wishing to dance the night away!
Protaras / Pernera area
Sun Set Villa is located in the village of Pernera, a relaxed family resort, near the town of Protaras. It is really close to the local shops, tavernas and bars.
There are plenty of restaurants and tavernas offering a wide range of international cuisine. These also often offer live entertainment and karaoke nights.
The beaches are magnificent and a great feature of the area: these are sandy beaches, ideal for children.
There are also plenty of activities available in the area and to please everyone's tastes. These include watersports, tennis, fishing, horse riding, paragliding and many more.
How to get there
Larnaca and Paphos airports have direct motorway links to the resort, the closest of which is Larnaca at just a 35 min' taxi journey or drive.Try the following web sites:
Larnaca Airport is only 35 minutes away and Paralimni town just 5 minutes while the many taverns, cocktail bars, cafes and shops are within walking distance.
Directions from Larnaca Airport From Larnaca Airport: The Villa is about 40 min from Larnaca airport As you leave the airport take the first exit at the roundabout. Follow this road, beside the salt lakes, for about 2 miles to the traffic lights. Turn right at these lights (signposted Lefkosia). You are now on the main road to the East Coast (A3). Stay on this main road for about 25 miles following signs for Paralimni / Agia Napa.
When you reach the roundabout [which is the end of the motor way] take the first filter exit [left] toward Paralimni. At the next roundabout, turn right toward Protaras. Follow this road, over a mini roundabout until you reach a T junction with traffic lights. Turn right at the lights. Drive 300m and after the EKO gas station take the left turn. Follow this road and after the long turn in 50 meters make a right turn and then a left. It is the second villa on your left hand (3B).
