The Famagusta District
Famagusta District, a large part of the area, including most of the town of Famagusta, has been under Turkish occupation since1974. During the second phase of the Turkish invasion (14 August 1974), the town was completely evacuated by its population.
Unlike other parts of occupied Cyprus, the Turkish army sealed off the town of Famagusta immediately after its capture and no-one has been allowed to enter since then. Thirty-three years on Famagusta remains a ghost town.
There are several “viewing points” at Dherynia from where you can see into the deserted town although this area is still out of bounds for visitors of any nationality. There are 3 separate viewpoint places at Dherynia from which to view Famagusta. Well worth a visit is Anita's viewpoint at Dherynia although all viewpoints are signposted along the main road through Paralimni.
Protaras / Pernera area
Located on the eastern side of the island, Pernera is the perfect holiday destination. There is always plenty going on nearby, without it being intrusive. Pernera has a number of small, sandy beaches, small coves each having its own charm.
For food lovers, there are many restaurants offering affordable, quality local dishes - try the Meat or Fish Meze. There are also Italian, Mexican, Chinese and English Pub restaurants. Many bars have entertainment or a theme to suit you - some also have Internet access if you feel the need! There are local supermarkets nearby for odds and ends and larger ones in nearby Paralimni where you will also find a few 24hr bakeries.
If you want a break from the pools and the beaches that are on your doorstep, Pernera is only a short bus/taxi ride into Ayia Napa, Larnaca or Nicosia.
Pernera is approx 1 mile north of Protaras and has a small local harbour where you can join one of the many boat excursions. The beach also hosts a full range of water sports. Within 5mins walk from the Villa you will find many restaurants and bars.
A 10min walk in the opposite direction, takes you to the local water park and there is a larger water park in Agia Napa. There are plenty of taxis nearby and a local bus service which will take you to Paralimni, Protaras, Ayia Napa, Larnaca and Nicosia. In Protaras itself there are many varied types of entertainment, food and shops to suit all your needs.
There are some interesting and historical places to visit nearby, such as the ghost town of Famagusta, the Troodos mountains (approx 2hrs drive), Lefkara (famous for lace-making) or Kavo Greko. In the evening, why not sample the local delicacies at one of the excellent tavernas, or live it up in Agia Napa or Protaras at one of the many nightclubs. There's something to suit all ages here in Cyprus!
How to get there
Many airlines fly to Larnaca including Monarch, Cyprus Airways and British Airways. From Larnaca Airport it is a 45 minute journey along the Cyprus motorway to the doorstep of this Villa. Driving is on the left the same as the UK!

We can recommend a company that we have found to be reliable and competitive and who will also deliver the vehicle FREE to Larnaca Airport and meet you with the keys, if arranging the car hire prior to your arrival and having the vehicle for 7 days or more.
The vehicle is driven back to Larnaca Airport by yourselves on the day of your departure, so saving any taxi fares! We can arrange this for you in advance, just let us know when making your enquiry, simple as that!

Further details indoors: The Villa has open plan lounge/dining and kitchen area which is fully equipped with ceramic hob, oven/grill and extractor fan, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, kettle, cooking utensils, toaster, iron and ironing board.
The dining area has an large dining table and 6 chairs, patio doors leading to rear patio area and private pool, which can be lit in the evening, perfect for that al fresco dining. The lounge area has a large comfy corner sofa and separate sofa which is also a sofa-bed, LCD television with satellite system, DVD player and stereo system.
The marble staircase off leads to the first floor. Downstairs WC with wash hand basin.
First floor has three bedrooms, the master bedroom having en suite facilities with shower cubicle, double bed with matching beside cabinets, fully fitted wardrobes. The second bedroom has double bed, matching bedside cabinet, fully fitted wardrobes, patio doors leading to balcony/seating area. Third bedroom has twin beds, matching bedside cabinets, fully fitted wardrobes and patio doors leading to balcony/seating area. The fully equipped, tiled family bathroom has bath with shower over, w.c. and wash hand basin.
Air conditioning is fitted throughout the Villa and is included in the rental price. These units also provide warm air for those winter getaways, although Cyprus is renowned for its 340 days a year of sunshine!
Further details outdoors: At the rear of this Villa, you will find the private pool with seating area, patio table and chairs seating 6 and sun loungers. There is also an outside shower for use with the pool.
There is also a gas barbecue provided for your use.
The private driveway provides off road parking for two vehicles.

**PLEASE NOTE: The resorts of Pernera and Protaras close down during quieter months from November to March although a few bars and eating places remain open. A car/taxi would be advisable to take you to nearby Paralimni which remains fully functional throughout the year. There is also limited bus service available.**
Conditions
Discounted rates are available for long term lets (over 1 month) and at less busy times. Please enquire if any special offers are applicable on the dates you wish to visit. Long term winter lets will be considered at reduced rates. Please enquire.
We would require a security/damage deposit of £250 (sterling) at the time of booking. This amount will be refunded to you within 14 days of your departure following a satisfactory inspection of the Villa and inventory check.
We also reserve the right to use this deposit should the Villa require excessive cleaning on departure. All provisional bookings will be held for 10 days to allow for your security/damage deposit to clear the banking system.
The balance of your booking, must be received in full eight weeks prior to your arrival. If your booking is made within this time, then full payment becomes due upon booking.
** PLEASE NOTE: Should you wish to cancel your booking after your security/deposit cheque has been cleared, the owner reserves the right to use his discretion as to the amount of refund due, if any and each case will be considered on an individual basis. Please also refer to your travel insurance company. **
Payment can be made in British £ Sterling directly to our bank or via sterling cheques. Payment can also be made in Euro, please state your preferred choice and request details when booking.
