About the home

Athena Villa, on the exclusive Crystal Lagoon gated community in Pernera, is perfectly located for a fantastic holiday, whether you have children, come with friends or as a couple. Completed in April 2009, the villa is the height of luxury with its own private heated pool, 3 LCD TVs (all with satellite), 2 DVD players, PS2 and iPod dock. Air con and refreshing ceiling fans throughout. Child friendly with cot, high chair, stair gates and beach shelter. Outdoors - sun loungers, parasols, al fresco dining and highest quality 3-burner gas BBQ.

You are very spoilt for choice when it comes to beautiful golden sandy beaches, being a couple of minutes stroll from the stunning Louma and Pernera Bays with their crystal clear waters. There are numerous excellent local family restaurants, bars and beach tavernas within 100m. All the amenities you need to make your holiday as relaxing as possible are conveniently just outside Crystal Lagoon's gates - car hire, cash machines, chemist, gift shops, taxi rank, bus stop, and a well-stocked supermarket directly opposite the gates - selling wines/beers and fresh bread!

The new floodlit boardwalk and coastal path means Protaras is now less than a 20 minute ocean-side stroll away from Pernera, day or night, if you can resist the many beachfront restaurants and tavernas along the way...or 5 mins by car/taxi, and the lively Ayia Napa is less than 15 mins by car.

All in all, Athena Villa is your perfect holiday destination.

This brand new, luxury villa is not to be missed. The interior is stylishly decorated in neutral and co-ordinated tones, with stunning rosewood and luxury chocolate leather furniture throughout.

- The spacious and airy, open-plan living and dining area includes a lovely bay window where you can dine with family and friends. There are 2 sumptuous leather sofas (one a fully sprung double sofa bed). DVD/CD player and 32" LCD TV, with Arabnet satellite offering numerous English-speaking news, sports and entertainment channels, including BBC World, and a selection of DVDs for entertaining both kids and adults. We've provided a selection of local maps, tourist brochures and our comprehensive information pack.
- Double patio doors open onto the private heated pool and garden area for al fresco dining.
- The contemporary Italian luxury fitted kitchen with marble worktop has everything you'd expect from a luxury villa. The downstairs bathroom with toilet and wash basin has a modern and contemporary feel.

- Upstairs, all three bedrooms have built-in floor to ceiling dark wood wardrobes, so there's plenty of space to easily store all your things.
- The master bedroom with kingsize bed includes a wall-mounted LCD TV with integrated DVD, so you can unwind at any time of day or night to a movie of your choice. There's a balcony overlooking the pool and a modern en-suite with shower.
- The second bedroom includes two comfortable single beds, and the third bedroom, with double bed, includes another wall-mounted LCD TV and PS2, with a selection of games for kids young and old, so you can be relaxing or getting ready to go out in peace should they tire of the pool.
- Modern family bathroom with full-size bath and shower.

- We have 2 kids ourselves, so know what you need to make your holiday as carefree as possible if you have young children. Stair gates top and bottom, cot, high chair, nightlight, plastic cutlery/plates and plug safety covers are all provided.

Athena Villa has one of the sunniest pools on Crystal Lagoon, so you can relax next to the pool and soak up the rays throughout the day from breakfast to late afternoon.

- With 4 very comfortable sun loungers, parasols and dining for 6, there's no need to leave the pool area at all. A selection of pool toys will have kids young and old playing for hours - diving rings, noodles, large octopus (with footpump to save your breath), masks and snorkels, balls etc.

- The fantastic top of the range roll-out 3-burner gas BBQ means you can grill up a delicious feast for everyone.

- The pool, which is graded so little kids can touch the bottom at the shallow end, can be heated (an additional cost - recommended from October to April). To reduce your heating costs, we've provided 'Solar Sun Rings' which use the sun's rays to complement the gas heating and significantly reduce heat loss at night. These are optional, and easy to put on and take off, look attractive on the pool and will cut your heating costs by at least 50%. In May and mid-September through October, they will keep the pool comfortably warm for everyone, even first thing in the morning, without further heating costs.

- For those lazy days on the beach, we've provided a large cool box on wheels, so you can easily take your picnic and refreshing drinks with you. We know that young ones may need some protection from the sun in the middle of the day, so we've provided a simple-to-erect beach shelter should there be no umbrellas available at the beach.

- There is secure off-road parking, and the front gates can be bolted so that small children will not be able to run out into the street or go walkabout.

Conditions

Refundable breakages deposit of £150 required. This will be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection by our managers).

Pool heating is available at the cost of gas fills which are around £150 per fill and last around a week (up to two fills may be required in winter depending on running temperature).

The Famagusta region

While perhaps best-known to holiday makers for its beautiful climate, Cyprus is soaked in so much more than sun. The culture and heritage of the island have been formed over its thousands of years of rich history and it will become apparent very quickly to any visitor that its many ancient inhabitants were attracted by more than its strategic location.

The rich, dark, fertile, soils of the Famagusta district, combined with the Mediterranean climate, mean you are likely to encounter local farmers harvesting all year round. It is also home to the best beaches on the island with a string of sandy beaches along its coast line, each with its own unique character and charm. Many Cypriots choose to have their holiday home in this region of Cyprus, which speaks for itself.

Cape Greko is a protected nature reserve on the very south-east corner of the island. It is home to many unique animals and plants, and is famous for its stunning natural scenery. The nearby Konnos Bay is one of the most exclusive and beautiful spots on the island - a must to visit during your stay.

A short drive away are the pine-forested Troodos mountains, which are dotted with small local Cypriot villages populated by friendly, welcoming locals (most of whom speak English), each offering their own individual experience.

In short, if you have soaked up enough of the Mediterranean sun, there are a multitude of options to stimulate every taste.

The Protaras / Pernera area

It is hard to find a better location to experience and enjoy what are arguably the best golden sandy beaches in Southern Cyprus. Athena Villa is 150m from both the Pernera and Louma Beaches, where you can choose from a variety of water sports including jet-ski, ride-on-banana, pedalo hire, and para sailing. Great snorkelling can be had here, too.

Pernera is now truly part of Protaras, with the centre of Protaras just a 20 minute stroll, day or night, (or 5 mins by car/taxi) from Pernera along the brand new floodlit ocean-side boardwalk/coastal path, which passes beautiful beaches and coves and brand new restaurants with complementary swimming pools and sunbathing areas with panoramic ocean views. Just grab the coolbox and beach towels and choose where you’ll spend your day, or listen to the waves lapping next to you as you take a romantic moonlit stroll to dine out by the sea or enjoy the livelier bars or nightly spectacular Dancing Waters and Light Show in Protaras.

Protaras Water Park , excellent for smaller children, is a short walk away, and the Ocean Aquarium just 5 minutes by car/taxi. Try your hand at mini golf in Protaras, or horse riding from nearby Moonshine Ranch. For the little ones, there are numerous mini fun parks with various rides and fun games.

Enjoy glass-bottom boat trips, white-knuckle rib rides and fishing trips from the harbour in Pernera, or take a sightseeing boat trip to the abandoned “Ghost Town” of Famagusta, just to the north.

The even livelier Ayia Napa is just 15 minutes by car or taxi, where by day there are sandy beaches, large amusement and fun parks. The award winning and exhilarating Water Park is a must. By night, if you have the stamina, the infamous clubs and bars rock from dusk until dawn.

May 2009 - "My Family stayed at Athena Villa in Pernera, Cyprus between 29th April 2009 and 6th May 2009. Being the first villa holiday that we had booked and the fact that we had 3 very young children, my wife and I were feeling a little apprehensive about arranging such a holiday ! May we say that from the first point of contact with the owners of the villa, it all went absolutely smoothly. When we arrived at the villa we were very impressed by the standard of finish and such modern decor and theme. The kitchen was fantastic with all the creature comforts of home, including every accessory and kitchen utensil you could imagine. The pool was great and the shed fully stocked with toys for the kids as well as having a fabulous gas barbecue in which we made full use of having some great food. The bedrooms and optional stair gates were superb and again most comfortable with televisions and game console for my kids. During the course of the week we twice met a British couple who look after general maintenance and any problems ! Fortunately the only need to contact them was in the street for a chat. The villa is situated in a fantastic location, where it is in a private gated complex that is within easy reach of a selection of shops/bars/restaurants and the beach.
Me and my wife enjoyed the holiday so much because we could relax and do things at our own pace in a very nice villa !
We are definitely hoping to return, hopefully September/October - so I hope you do not get too booked up !
