Villa Melissa is set in a quiet residential area in the exclusive Blue Water Bay Village. Just 5 minutes walk to nearest shops, restaurants and beach. From here you can continue your walk along a coastal path to take in the wave kissed coastline, the crystal clear waters, the isolated rock formations, the sea caves and arches that give you a flavour of the real Cyprus.

From this location, you decide how much relaxation or activity you want from your holiday. You could spend the holiday at the Villa, cooking on the gas barbecue, eating al fresco on the outdoor dining furniture overlooking the private pool. But then it would be a shame to miss out on the dining facilities just minutes away on Kennedy Avenue, Try the local specialities and you will delight the taste buds as well as your wallet.

Paypal deduct a 4% admin charge which has not been accounted for in the Villa prices. We therefore have to pass this charge on. We will deduct the charge from the security deposit when this is returned at the end of your holiday if you choose to pay by credit card.
# A complimentary welcome pack is provided, comprising drinking water, coffee, tea, milk, sugar, bread, butter, jam
# Guests can access the Villa anytime after 4pm on the day of arrival and are normally expected to vacate the Villa by 11am on the morning of departure,
# If you wish to stay beyond the normal 11am checkout time, eg due to a late flight, this must be agreed at the time of booking otherwise we cannot guarantee being able to accomodate your preference. This to ensure that there is sufficient time for the Villa to be prepared for the next guest. Please note that there will be a charge for late departures because we effectively lose a day on the next guest booking.(£50)
# The villa will be cleaned prior to your arrival. No extra charge
# Electrical appliances are the same voltage as in the UK
# Bedlinen and mattress covers are provided for all beds

Conditions

# A £200 non-refundable deposit is payable at the time of booking.
# If booking is made within 6 weeks of the holiday start date, then payment is due in full
# The balance is payable no later than 6 weeks before the start of the holiday
# In addition, a refundable security deposit of £250 is payable before the start of the holiday. This would normally be paid at the same time as the balance of the holiday. This will be refunded within 14 days of the end of the holiday, less any deductions for damages, breakages or losses.
# The door key is attached to a key fob which activates the air conditioning when you enter the Villa, assuming it has been left on. This should avoid leaving the AC on when you are away from the villa. In addition, the air conditioning should not be left on if the external windows and doors are open. Excessive use may result in an additional charge at the owners discretion.
# Only the guests detailed on the booking form are permitted to stay in the Villa during your holiday. Any changes must be notified to us before the start of the holiday.

The Famagusta region

The Famagusta District, on the islands east coast, was once the main port of Cyprus and a popular resort. After the Turkish invasion in 1974 the areas of Ayia Napa and Protaras were redeveloped to become one of the largest resort areas on the island with many hotels, tavernas, discos and bars. The area includes some of the finest beaches in Cyprus as well as Capa Greco and the administrative centre, Paralimni.

Protaras, with Fig Tree Bay at its heart is famous for its white sandy beaches and sparkling blue waters. Looked over by green rolling hills you can find rugged cliffs standing high over small sandy coves and local fish tavernas serving fresh fish whilst you take in the wonderful scenery.
A short drive takes you to the scenic valley of the windmills, where what seems like hundreds of rotating fan blades help to pump the water that irrigates this fertile land.
Watersports are available, including water-skiing and windsurfing

Southern Cyprus is famous for its warm climate; enjoying 340 days of sunshine a year, making it an all year round destination for holiday makers.

Protaras, just 10 minutes from the Villa, is the main beach resort and is famous for its sandy beaches. Located within Fig Tree Bay it boasts crystal clear waters and endless secluded coves. Watersports, including water-skiing and wind surfing, are available at Protaras. This is a family orientated resort offering great entertainment, including mini-golf, a sea aquarium and evening entertainment at the Eden Square.

Ayia Napa is a bustling resort that has recovered its reputation as a great family resort with plenty of activities and entertainments for the whole family. Nissi beach is perhaps the most famous of the many sandy beaches in the area. Pay a visit to the old monastery and the local museum. The harbour has some excellent fish restaurants. If your passion is to dance the night away, then you will be spoiled for choice from the many lively bars and nightclubs.
The WaterPark is said to be one of the largest in Europe.

Capo Greco, the eastern most point of Cyprus is just a short drive from Ayia Napa. Worth a visit for rugged coastline, peace and tranquillity. It is a protected area with many cycleways. It is also a good area for scuba diving.

Paralimni is the largest town in the southern fringe of Cyprus and is now the administrative centre for the Famagusta region. Modern shops and offices stand beside traditional coffee shops and old stores. You should be able to find anything you might need here, including emergency dental treatment! Relax and soak up the atmosphere in the 'village' square over a coffee and snack. There is even a Marks & Spencer's just off the square!

The Protaras / Kapparis area

Nestling along the coast close to the border with Northern Cyprus, is the beautiful resort of Kapparis. Restful cafe bars, restaurants and several small supermarkets and a bakery populate the main road, plus a couple of car hire/excursion agents.
Kapparis is a growing village with new shops opening all the time. Recent openings include an Italian restaurant, a tea shop, two new wine bars - Mello and the Vines, a Chinese restaurant as well as 'Folio' a new restaurant positioned on the left just as you drive into Kaparris which has quickly established a good reputation.
Other more established outlets are updating their image to broaden their appeal to the tourist, such as Falaros restaurant, also now with Bar Divino.
New for 2010 are The Lounge and the Magazaki CharGrill
There are several small beaches just off the main street with water sports and snack bars.
The Malama Hotel has a pool, bar, shop & tennis courts, all open to the public.

Kapparis is a relatively restful resort but one that is growing in popularity and is now open all year. Yet it is close enough to Protaras & Ayia Napa should you wish to raise the tempo of your holiday.

Inside a small zoo there is a lookout tower from where you can see across the border (buffer zone) into the North. An information centre outlines the history of the divided island.

Ten minutes walk from the High Street is Fireman's beach, aptly named due to the Fire Service Training School at the top of the cliff. From here you can see right across the bay to Famagusta resort with its empty hotels and deserted beaches.

The Cypriot people are naturally very friendly, welcoming and helpful. They have a strong tradition for family life so children are made to feel welcome in most restaurants.
English is spoken by most Cypriots.

Direct flights to Cyprus are available from a number of UK airports with additional budget airlines adding routes from March 2009. This will increase competition which, with landing fees at Larnaca airport reducing substantially this year will provide extra value.

Whilst Cyprus has two international airports with Paphos to the west of the island, Larnaca is the airport of choice when visiting the Famagusta area. A new terminal is due to open later in 2009, which demonstrates the increasing popularity of Cyprus as a holiday destination. This is 65 kms from the villa or about 45 minutes to drive.

Regular schedule flights to Larnaca are operated by British Airways (www.britishairways.com). We can supply details of other airlines upon request.

Hiring a car is recommended (preferably one with air conditioning), if you wish to tour the island and sample all that it has to offer. There is a wide choice available based at the airport. Oh and there is no need to worry, we will provide you with a map and clear directions from the airport. You just need to remember to pack it! Remember too that they drive on the left the same as in the UK and that road signs are also in English.

We can also arrange a meet and greet service, where you will be driven to and from the airport and your chosen Villa, where your hire car will be waiting.

You can also arrange to hire a car in Kapparis just for selected days, though in the season, this is best done in advance.

Alternatively, you can just use taxis to get from and to the airport. After all, with your own pool and being within walking distance of the beach, shops, restaurants and bars a relaxing holiday in the sun would tick the boxes of many a discerning holidaymaker.

Return cost of taxi between Larnaca airport & Villa is around 120 euro for up to 3 people, with each extra passenger charged at 30 euros.

There is a bus service between Kapparis and Ayia Napa that runs every 20 minutes from April through to September.

“good villa furnished to a high std. close to local bars, restaraunts, shops & beach.” We arrived at villa Melissa at around 1am in the morning. we had to pick up keys for the villa from a local management agency on the outskirts of Protaras. The directions supplied were very pricise and clear and we had no trouble picking up the keys from a safe deposit box on the outside the the building of the managing agent as the office were shut out of hours, from there the directions to the villa were equally as good and we found the villa without any problems. The villa had been cleaned prior to our arrival to an acceptable standard and a small welcome pack of essentials left. The villa is furnished to a very good standard with leather sofa's dishwasher, washing machine etc all in working order as described. the bedrooms are equally as good with comfy beds/pillows ceiling fans and air con. There are plenty of utensils in the kitchen and loads of crockery and cutlerly. the Gas hob is powered using bottled gas outside so make sure its switched on, if it runs out you need to contact the local agent for it to be changed. However it can be changed with the bottle on the gas barbeque as an emergency measure. Wireless Internet access was a godsend was able to keep in contact with work and our teenage boys were able to keep intouch with friends using facebook etc without any speed or hang problems. No more trawling to Protaras or Ayia Napa looking for a smokey smelly internet cafe was great! Outside there is a set of patio furniture that was ok to sit around and have a drink in the evening by the pool. there is also a glass patio table with around 8 chairs, and a gas BBQ to be honest it that as seen better days and is in need of replacing as some of the ignighters dont work and it looks a little tatty. the pool was cleaned prior to our arrival and was also cleaned 3 times during our stay (9 nights) the pool guys were very polite and we had no issues. the pool fence was not in use and had been stored away under the stairs, it was not required for our stay but I would advise to ask for it to be errected before arrival if required. the bed linen and towels were also changed midway through our stay and again we had no issues. The television in the bedroom was not there and the playstation 2 was set up on the television downstairs. The light fitting in the dining area had its glass shade missing and one the the lounge area had its fan speed cord missing. that was the only things I could say was wrong with the property, some appliances were using two pin plugs we could only find one adapter and had to find some in the local supermarket. the local shops tavernas etc are within walking distance and Tonys at the top of the road is really good to eat or just sit for a drink. a car is not required but if you want to get further afield then it is required (for the last couple of years I have used privilege rent a car.com they meet you at the airport no money changes hands until you arrive at the airport you pay on collection of the car.) all in all a very nice holiday I would recommend to anyone with teenage children and young children. Would I use the villa again myself Yes! Response: Thank you for the Review. Whilst it is nice to read one that is totally positive, we appreciate ones that include 'little niggles' as well. It gives us the opportunity to judge how the local agents are performing.
