About the home

5 Crystal Lagoon is a stylish yet practical, luxury villa with a private, heated swimming pool. Plasma TV with Satellite, DVD, PS2, Wii, iPod dock, great selection of DVDs/CDs, games for kids and adults. Child friendly (stair gates, cot, high chair etc). Gas BBQ and large garden with sun loungers and parasols. Air-con and central heating. Only a 3 minute stroll from fabulous child-friendly beaches with soft golden sand and gentle, crystal clear waters. All the amenities to make a great holiday are within a few minutes walking distance - tavernas and restaurants (including 'La Cultura Del Gusto' voted best in Cyprus), shops, bars, car hire, banks, chemists etc. There is a well stocked supermarket, off-licence and bakery opposite the villa's cul-de-sac gates and adventure playgrounds and family restaurants aplenty. Meanwhile, the busier resort of Protaras is a 5 minute drive (or 20 minute walk along a stunning new boardwalk coastline path completed in Spring 2009 with plenty of bars en route), and Ayia Napa is a 15 minute drive. Quite simply, a perfect location!

The open plan living and dining room is spacious with 2 sumptuous leather sofas (one a comfy double sofa-bed) and a plasma screen hooked up to Arabnet Satellite service with its broad range of channels (News, Sport, Movies etc). We also have a great variety of adult and kids' DVDs and CDs for use.

The separate kitchen is a cynch to cook in (and even easier to keep clean) and comes with all the mod cons (dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer etc though drying clothes outside in the summer takes a matter of minutes) and utensils that you would expect in a top-notch villa - we've even supplied a Toastie maker which is a speedy life-saver for those famished little fish in the pool!

The double French doors lead onto the patio area where you can fire up the rollout gas BBQ and dine al fresco, sunbathe on the loungers by the graded pool or let your kids play in the large, enclosed garden beyond (perfect for keeping the young ones safe).

We know how tricky it can be finding the right place to stay if you have young children, and so we have tried to make 5 Crystal Lagoon as child-friendly as possible. This includes the standards - cot, highchair, plastic cutlery, plates, bowls and beakers, bibs, but we want to make your stay as relaxing as possible. So there are stair gates, a good range of indoor and outdoor toys, books, DVDs and CDs. Even a spare buggy and a monitor so you only have to pack suncream and swimsuits!

All three bedrooms are comfortable and have plenty of storage with floor-to-ceiling built-in wardrobes. The master and second bedroom have plasma screens so you can watch the world as you rest. The master suite (with en suite) overlooks the pool and gardens.

All rooms have air conditioning and ceiling fans, and central heating for the chillier months.

We supply cotton percale bedlinen and sumptuous towels, and even beach towels for your convenience.

We offer a welcome pack upon your arrival, a mobile phone which you can top up, and 24-hour help from our friendly and knowlegeable managers.

Further details outdoors:
The private pool is a the hub of the villa, especially for kids (our daughter learnt to swim under water here). It's graded which means that younger children can touch the bottom at the shallower end. Out of the hot summer months, we advise that the pool is heated - from October to April, even though the outside temperature is still warm, the water can be chilly, and who wants to just look at an enticing pool? We only ask you to pay for the gas used.
Quality sun loungers, parasols and an outside dining set means that you can use the patio area as another fantastic room, perfect for firing up the rollout gas BBQ and dining al fresco. Beyond the pool is a low metal fence with a gate separating the garden from the pool area. The garden has a large timber decking area and catches the sun from dawn til dusk. The fence keeps little ones away from the pool in a large and safe outdoor area - you could quite feasibly spend your whole holiday here without venturing to the beach. The only thing you would have to worry about is how to keep your glass of wine cool... but we've supplied a cooler for that!
The garden is totally enclosed and visible from the villa which means it can become a separate and safe play area for younger children.
There's also an outdoor shower so you can rinse sandy feet from the beach before entering the pool or villa.
A set of snorkel and fins are provided for guests' use along with plenty of pool toys.

Additional charges for pool heating (we have recently introduced pool rings which heat the pool using solar energy and prevent heat loss). Extra charges also apply for excessive use of air-conditioning.

If there is no availability for the weeks you want, please contact us since we know other villa owners in the same community who may have availability.

Conditions

Refundable breakages deposit of £150 required to be refunded within a few weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection) - leaving the aircon units running or with doors open and during the day when you are out is very expensive these days. We reserve the right to be deducted excessive electricity use costs from the deposit.

Pool heating is available at the cost of gas fills which is around €150 per fill and lasts around a week (up to two fills may be required in winter depending on running temperature); we have recently installed solar pool rings which heat the pool for free and keep the heat in overnight.

The Famagusta region

From Blue Flag beaches to secluded coves, basket-weaving villages to the ghost town of Famagusta, this region is really the hidden gem of Cyprus.

Known for its fertile red soil and photogenic windmills, Famagusta District retains its old charming identity whilst being thoroughly modern. The working town of Paralimni offers a selection of hypomarkets, up market shops, bars and restaurants. Step into a different world 10 minutes drive away in Potamas - a fishing village where you can still see the fishermen land the catch of the day.

Further afield, visit Nicosia, a bustling capital with its incongruous occupied Turkish territory. Cross the border into Northern Cyprus and see time stand still in the beautiful town of Kyrenia. Or retreat from the heat in the stunning Trodos mountains - refreshing in the summer and snow-capped in the winter. How many other destinations could offer you sunbathing in the morning and skiing in the afternoon?

For golf enthusiasts, the best courses are currently a couple of hours away, near Paphos.

There are tennis courts at the nearby hotels - you can also enjoy their facilities (pools, children's playgrounds etc)

And of course most of the beaches offer all kinds of watersports, from jet skis, parasailing, banana boats and other thrill-seeking inflatables to the leisurely peddle boats with slides (great fun for the young ones!)

The needs of holiday makers and the area's natural beauty make this area truly special. So whatever type of holiday you're looking for (beach, bird watching, watersports, snorkelling and scuba diving, bar culture, cycling, walking) you'll find this a super base.

And if you're feeling really adventurous you can even take a day trip to Egypt and see the Great Pyramids!

The Protaras / Pernera area

Conveniently, there is a well-stocked supermarket with extended opening hours at the entrance of Crystal Lagoon.

From here it's a few minutes into Pernera's main street or a 5 minute stroll to multiple fantastic, child-friendly Golden Coast beach with soft sand, gentle waters and even a playground when the little ones (and dads!) tire of building sandcastles. The snorkeling is great here too - on our last trip we spotted rays and octopus.

Overlooking the beach is a picture-postcard white church where you may be lucky enough to see a wedding or family celebration taking place.

Hop over the walkway and you've arrived at the beautiful harbour of Pernera, where you may catch a glimpse of a fisherman mending his nets. Here you can take several types of boat trips, including knuckle-ride ribs and glass bottomed boat cruises.

And of course there's buzzier Protaras - a 20 minute stroll along the rugged coastline (fabulous new boardwalk completed in 2009) - where you can enjoy anything from golden sands to playing mini golf, Elvis Presley nights to the spectacular Dancing Water show. Fifteen minutes by taxi (E10) or car is Ayia Napa, an old fishing port now expanded to cater to all tourist pleasures.

The natural beauty of Cape Grecko, a 10 minute car journey from the villa, is a world away from the busy sands of Ayia Napa. Here you can enjoy one of the best places to view the sunset in Cyprus. It's one of the prime migration points of the island - flamingoes are regulars. The nearby Konnos Beach is favoured for its livelier waves and its exclusive location.

The Waterpark in Protaras is a big hit with the kids, and when you've all just had a bit too much sun, you can seek refuge in the Ocean Aquarium. There's also the Moonshine Ranch Horse Riding to explore.

Boat trips (cruises, fishing, snorkelling, scuba, thrill seeking etc) can be taken from Pernera Harbour or Ayia Napa.

And if you want something completely different from the crystal clear waters, there's always the Camel Park in Limassol!

Located in the heart of Pernera with shops, bars, restaurants and hire services on your doorstep and just 3 minutes walk from sheltered golden sand beaches. The town has a fishing harbour and lovely atmosphere.

Larnaca International is 45 minutes by car; Paphos International 2.15 hrs.

“Brilliant! even better than expected” We usually go to Paphos so this was a departure for us. We were pleasantly surprised! The villa is an hour from Larnaca airport, we rented a car but this was costly since we did not use it much - there was too much to do near the villa. Perhaps I should keep it secret but I'd recommend this villa. It's very close to the sea but well positioned for supermarkets and lots of great bars and restaurants in Pernera. Some friends visited us from another villa - they were green with envy, this villa is stuffed with goodies. The night life is great, I recommend the Windmill bar or Knights pub opposite - especially on Karaoke night. Ayia Napa is 10 minutes away in a cab and worth a visit. I'd also recommend the glass bottom boat from the local beach. Next time we'll try the waterparks and diving. Two thumbs up! Response: You were wonderful guests! Thanks so much for your review. Tip for next time: if you liked the glass bottom boat, there's also a fab "pirates of the caribbean" boat trip on a boat made up like the one in the movie too now.

5 Crystal Lagoon is available for rent on a weekly basis or other period on request.

Can be block booked with up to five other partner villas in the gated community for larger parties (please contact us to discuss requirements).

Prices are quoted in £ sterling and are per week for the villa, regardless of the number of guests staying.

Price includes:

- Arrival clean, lay out of bed linen and towels for arrival day

- Travel cot / high chair

- Bath and Hand Towels

- Beach/Pool Towels

- Welcome basket

- Cleaning on departure day (if the villa is left in an unacceptable state of disrepair, we reserve the right to charge for the extra cleaning)

- Reasonable use of AirCon (please ensure aircon if off when doors are open or you go out)

- Central heating if required out of season

A 25% deposit will secure booking. Final payment due 6 weeks prior to arrival. All terms and conditions will be sent out with booking form.

Note: the pool heating is available at extra cost and recommended off-peak - you will be only charged for the cost of the gas fills to heat the pool. Currently one tank costs approx €150 and will generally last one week.

Extras:

Airport pick up (Larnaca): currently around €65 - we can provide you with details of a trusted transfer/car hire company who will deliver and collect at the airport with new quality cars at very special rates).
