The Famagusta District
The coastal location of Protaras lends itself to various interesting day-time activities. Boat trips to Cape Greko, the south-easternmost point on the island are available daily during the summer months.
Cape Greco is a protected nature park and is for this reason a popular stop-point/destination in Boat-trip routes.
Protaras offers the most dive sites in Cyprus. All dive sites on the east coast of Cyprus are easily accessible from the shore without having to pay boat charges. The local sea has it's great opportunities for divers who have not been diving, give a SSI Try Dive or Padi Discover Scuba Diving a try.
The restaurants, pubs and bars gathered around the main road constitute the nightlife of this holiday resort. Almost every pub and bar is equipped with wide-screen televisions showing not only sport but also popular sitcoms. Karaoke and Live entertainment are customary in pubs and bars.
Even though there are not many nightclubs in Protaras, the majority of bars and pubs stay open until the late hours of the morning. Additionally, there is an endless number of nightclubs nearby at Ayia Napa, and plenty of taxis or OSEA bus are providing regular transport there and back.
There is a diverse selection of restaurants at Protaras, ranging from regular fast-food establishments such as McDonalds to restaurants that specialise in more exotic styles of cooking. Fewer than expected restaurants in Protaras serve authentic Greek-Cypriot food and a visit to the town of Paralimni is therefore advisable for those who wish to sample a splendid village Meze (a traditional banquet of savoury dips, bite-size kebabs, stews and casseroles).
Pernera is a small coastal resort less than 1km from three small sandy beaches that are quieter than their shoreline counterparts in Protaras. The centre of Pernera has a selection of shops, cafés, bars and restaurants to visit as well as a small but active harbour from where boat trips can be taken. Regular bus services are also available from the centre of the resort, offering transport to the livelier Protaras strip and Paralimni's wide assortment of shops.
Ayia Napa Waterworld is the largest themed water park in Europe, where you'll feel like you've entered another world. Step into the realm of the Ancient Greeks among the statues and columns which blend in to landscape. The rides tell a mythical story, too, and when you go for a swim in one of the pools you almost expect to bump into a greek god or goddess. The Ancient Greek ambience is perfect for bathing and relaxing, while the range of exhilarating rides will do for those looking for an adrenalin fix.
Approximately 10km northwest of Protaras, Paralimni is the largest town in the local area with a population of over 11,000. Paralimni (translated in to English as “by the lake”) takes its name from a neighbouring stretch of water that rises in the winter months. A pleasant town with a sprinkling of shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, bowling, Paralimni offers a welcome escape from the tourist melee of the nearby resorts.
Three churches dominate the centre of the town, the most notable of which – Panayia – contains an interesting ecclesiastical museum.
The beaches in Protaras are reckoned to be the island's best. The resort's main one, Fig Tree Bay, comes with a raft of watersports and a little island you can swim out to. There are 5 other quality beaches round here, too, with Blue Flag status (one of them is Yianna Marie, 1500 metres from the villa). Clean sandy beech, plenty of sunbeds and parasols to hire. Drinks and food available at beech cafes.
The main road of Protaras centre is the most popular areas for tourists and can be reached from the villa on foot in 10 minutes or 2 minutes by bus. The local beach of Pernera is 400 metres south of the villa.

"Fantastic Villa at least six stars"
We have just returned from a two week stay at the Mandali Villa and I and my family rate it as better than five stars. We were met on our arrival by Andreas the owner along with his wife and one of his daughters. Andreas gave me a full walkaround and brief of the villa which can sleep seven people very comfortably and explained where everything was and how it worked. He also stocked the fridge with some basics for breakfast the following day to get you started ( there was also some very cold beers!!!).On arrival the villa was spotlessly clean and it is clear that Andreas and his family also use the villa when they have the chance. Andreas also left his phone number should there be any problems. The villa has two double rooms and a kids room witha bunk bed and a single bed, all the bedrooms along with the lounge have air conditioning. The lounge is equipped with a sofa ,two chairs a TV with satellite channels ,DVD player and a Playstation. The villa is also euipped with wireless Internet. The kitchen is fully equipped witha fridge/freezer,washer machine and gas cooker. The patio area has two tables, one in the open and the other completely shaded but the outstanding feature outside is the swimming pool. The villa is 900 metres from the main bar and restaurant area of Protaras so can be easily walked to and if you have young children as we did there is a bus service from outside the villa complex which will cost € 1.50 for an adult journey and 0.75 cents for a child 6-11 years. The prices for the bus are for any journey be it one bus stop or to Ayia Napa half an hour away. The local attractions are many and varied and an Internet search is a must. Overall the best most fantastic family holiday we have ever been on. We will most certainly be returning to the villa and Protaras

Firstly, Andreas was very helpful right from the moment we booked the villa. Myself, my partner and another couple stayed here for 1 week. Andreas gave me details for Zakos at a car hire place just around the corner from the villa, we got a great deal on car hire and Zakos was lovely and helpful too. Andreas invited us to his home in Nicosia to meet his family and show us around the Old Town, unfortunately, we couldn't make it this time but we intend to come back and take him up on his generous offer. When we arrived at the villa Andreas and Yioula met us and showed us around the villa. It was clean and had everything we needed. They even left us bread, milk and a few other food items which meant we didn't have to go straight to the shops. They even left cans of beer for us :-) The nearby Bottle Shop was extremely cheap for alcoholic drinks. There is also a nearby Netto supermarket (probably not walking distance). I heard the bus service is superb, if you don't want to hire a car. There is lots of room in the villa & the pool area gets the sun all day. The local area is perfect. Lots of bars and restaurants which all serve amazing food. It is approx 10 minute walk to the centre but there is pubs and cafe's along the main road on the way there. There is lots of local beaches, the large beach at Protaras and Fig Tree Bay and smaller beaches nearby that were more peaceful, especially at the time of year we stayed here. Highly recommended! I am now converted to villa holidays rather than hotels/apartments. Thank you again to Andreas and Yioula.

"Beyond our expectations, great location, beautiful Villa!"
We were welcomed to the villa by Andreas and wife and villa manager. There are very friendly people and welcomed us to their villa with a welcome pack of tea /coffee /milk and bread etc… As we arrived at 23:30 it was a great gesture and very welcoming. The villa its self was spotless and clean and facilities excellent. Every last detail and more down to parasol and mats and chairs for beach is catered for. It was our first time in Cyprus and found the villa information packs that Andreas had put in place very useful. Cyprus exceeded our expectations and we eat out mostly at Anatolia and the Red Indian Restaurants, they do an excellent 3 course dinner packages. Both these are on the main road before you get to the top of the strip. Nick Bottle shop a 5 minute walk is ideal to buy in beers/wine / spirits and pop /Juice far cheaper than the Kiosk. The kiosk charged me inflated prices so keep a watchful eye when buying from there. The red bus tour of Famagusta is a must very informative and a great day out. I have been to villas now for the past 7 years and Andreas made it oh so easy arranging our airport transfers and checking we were ok during our stay and replied quickly to emails when booking and answering any questions we had. Would we go back again….For sure…. we didn’t want to leave. Thank you Andreas!

"Amazing family of hosts and beautiful villa"
Context (about us): We were a group of 7 students (of both genders) traveling during our Easter holidays, looking for a getaway to chill-out; we rented 2 cars for easy getting-around Villa-wise: + Very nice pool, large enough to fit multiple floats for silly water games (more can be bought cheaply at the small nearby 24/7 convenience stores), perfect to chill by the pool as well with very comfortable deck chairs (more than enough), even better to lie on floating beds in the pool! + Didn't expect a playstation2 being provided, played old school games such as Metal Slug 3 and FIFA 2005 (was great fun and reminded us of our adolescence + Many amenities provided (more than we expected); requests were also promptly addressed + Good location, short drive away (and even walking distance for some) from many things (groceries, restaurants, towns etc) Hosts-wise: + Awesome family who brought us around in Nicosia, showed us some historical places and warmly hosted us at home
