Cyprus has the longest summer season in the whole of europe. The country also has stunning beaches , many have been awarded the Blue Flag status, so those looking for golden sandy beaches, and crystal clear waters, will be rewarded with a visit to this magical island.
Then we have the history of the island. Although a small country, Cyprus has an almost overwhelming cultural heritage. Wherever you travel you will find ancient monuments and sites, churches and monasteries bearing silent witness to over 9 000 years of civilization and history. Cyprus stands at the crossroads of Africa, Asia and Europe and this exotic mix is well-reflected in Cyprus' cultural history.
Protaras / Central Protaras area
The lively family resort of Protaras is only a 10 minute stroll from the villa.
Protaras is a modern, purpose-built resort located 14km east of Ayia Napa, and is particularly popular with water sports aficionados. The resort stretches over 6km along the sandy-beached coastline, interspersed with rocky coves. The resort has two main focal points - Fig Tree Bay and Pernera Beach - where the majority of hotels and bars are to be found. Protaras attracts families and couples wanting to enjoy the stunning beaches of the eastern coastline but without the frenetic nightlife of neighbouring Ayia Napa!
With some of the best water sports on the island, holidays in Protaras are definitely for those who like to make a splash. That being said, it's considerably quieter than its fun-loving neighbour, Ayia Napa. So, it's a good choice for families and couples looking for uninterrupted relaxation.
It's a purpose built resort that's fairly compact, with most of the hotels, bars and restaurants scattered around Fig Tree Bay and Pernera Beach. There's also a wide range of restaurants to choose from, whether it's a traditional taverna and some bouzouki music that gets you going, or you prefer belting out a soul song in a karaoke bar, you won't be disappointed.
