The Famagusta region

Kapparis is an up-and-coming, peaceful and picturesque locality with easy access to the resorts of Protaras, Pernera & Ayia Napa and the towns of Paralimni & Dherynia. New bars and restaurants are being established on the main Kapparis road that leads to Famagusta providing visitors to the area all amenities without having to go to the neighbouring areas.Kapparis is home to three beautiful beaches, Malama beach, Firemans beach and Agia Triada beach with the little church on the edge, and overlooking the lovely marina. A five minute ride in the other direction, will take you into the large and modern municipal town of Paralimni where you can experience a great day out shopping at one of the many boutiques or sipping a frappae' at one of the local cafe's. The Protaras / Kapparis area

Kapparis: Nestling along the east is the beautiful resort of Kapparis. Restful cafe bars, restaurants and several small supermarkets and a bakery populate the main road. There are a couple of car hire/excursion agents.Kapparis is a pleasant village with new shops opening all the time. Recent additions include an Italian restaurant, a tea shop, two new wine bars - Mello and the Vines, a Chinese restaurant as well as a Folios a new restaurant positioned on the left just as you drive into Kaparris which has quickly established a good reputation. Other more established outlets are updating their image to broaden their appeal to the tourist, such as Falaros restaurant, also now with bar. There are several small beaches just off the main street(Malama, Agia Triada and Firemans beach) with water sports and snack bars. The Malama Hotel has a pool, bar, shop & tennis courts, all open to the public. Kapparis is a relatively restful resort but one that is growing in popularity and is now open all year.

Protaras: With Fig Tree Bay at its heart is famous for its white sandy beaches and sparkling blue waters. It is the main beach resort. Looked over by green rolling hills you can find rugged cliffs standing high over small sandy coves and local fish tavernas serving fresh fish whilst you take in the wonderful scenery. A short drive takes you to the scenic valley of the windmills, where what seems like hundreds of rotating fan blades help to pump the water that irrigates this fertile land. Water sports are available, including water-skiing and windsurfing This is a family orientated resort offering great entertainment, including mini-golf, a sea aquarium and evening entertainment at the Eden Square.

Ayia Napa: Ayia Napa: Ayia Napa is a bustling resort with plenty of activities and entertainments for the whole family. Nissi beach is perhaps the most famous of the many sandy beaches in the area. Pay a visit to the old monastery and the local museum. The harbour has some excellent fish restaurants. If your passion is to dance the night away, then you will be spoiled for choice from the many lively bars and nightclubs. The WaterPark is said to be one of the largest in Europe. The Cypriot people are naturally very friendly, welcoming and helpful. They have a strong tradition for family life so children are made to feel welcome in most restaurants. English is spoken by most Cypriots.

Direct flights to Cyprus are available from a number of UK airports with additional budget airlines adding routes .
Whilst Cyprus has two international airports with Paphos to the west of the island, Larnaca is the airport of choice when visiting the Famagusta area. Larnaca airport is 65 kms from the villa or about 45 minutes to drive.

Regular schedule flights to Larnaca are operated by British Airways and Cyprus airways. We can supply details of other airlines upon request.

Hiring a car is recommended (preferably one with air conditioning), if you wish to tour the island and sample all that it has to offer. There is a wide choice available based at the airport. Oh and there is no need to worry, we will provide you with a map and clear directions from the airport. You just need to remember to pack it! Remember too that they drive on the left the same as in the UK and that road signs are also in English.

We can also arrange a meet and greet service, where you will be driven to and from the airport and your chosen Villa, where your hire car will be waiting.

You can also arrange to hire a car in Kapparis just for selected days, though in the season, this is best done in advance.

Alternatively, you can just use taxis to get from and to the airport. After all, with your own pool and being within walking distance of the beach, shops, restaurants and bars a relaxing holiday in the sun would tick the boxes of many a discerning holidaymaker.

There is a bus service between Kapparis and Ayia Napa that runs every 20 minutes from April through to September.

“Excellent quality villa, great location & value for money” Stayed in April with partner and family for a short break. We have stayed lots of times in Cyprus and always stay in a villa. This villa was recommended by Ocean View villa rental company and we weren't disappointed. The villa was lovely, really modern and well equipped. The downstairs layout is open plan and the whole of the back of the villa has patio doors which give a really light and airy feel with views to the patio and pool. Couldn't fault anything about the villa and for the price is one of the best value for money villas we have stayed in, in Cyprus.

“Best villa we've stayed in” Villa Menelaos is a lovely, well appointed villa with everything we needed for a great holiday. It was roomy, with good air conditioning in the bedrooms and the living area. The bedrooms were comfortable, with plenty of storage space. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a large fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The south-facing pool area had sun all day, plenty of sunbeds for everyone, and places to sit and eat. The table-tennis was great too! The pool was lovely and warm, and not overlooked - and no mosquitoes!! We could sit outside all evening without getting bitten. The location was great - the best beach in the area was a few minutes walk away - great swimming and snorkelling, and a watersports centre, and we booked a great boat trip just around the corner. There is an amazing bakery very close by, which also sold take-away food - local dishes, and excellent chips. There is a small supermarket very near, and a Lidl store 10 minutes away by car. We recommend the restaurant Faliros a short distance away in Kapparis. We had no problem finding excellent vegetarian food in the area. It is worth noting also that Larnaca airport has a good restaurant, and a very large shopping area with bars and coffee shops for departing passengers - it was no problem waiting for a late-night departure. I would not hesitate to book Villa Menelaos again, and we will certainly be re-visiting Cyprus!

“Beautiful!” Villa Menelaos was just as described. It was spotless and really well maintained by the owner and very well managed by the agents who were a great help. We had a wonderful stay at the villa witch was very well equipped for a group of six, inside and out, including two play stations and table tennis. We visited the nearby beaches and some great restaurants, Our favorite being Karas, serving excellent Greek and European food. The only downside was that we only booked for a week, but would have liked to stay longer.

“Lovely Villa, great location with lots of added extras” This is a lovely Villa, which is situated in a great location. Walking distance to many local bars and restaurants and a short walk to the beach. The en suite master bedroom is an added bonus and there is plenty of wadrobe space. It has a large TV screen, although a few english channels would be an advantage. One of the twin rooms has a playstation 2 which was great for our two teenage boys and to their delight it also had a playstation3 downstairs. Unfortunately we didn't know this in advance so the boys didn't bring any games. Really lovely villa with a pleasant and relaxing pool area which gets the sun all day round. Would definitely recommend.

“Wonderfull Christmas break” A well appointed, spacious villa, which catered well for six adults. Good southerly facing rear which had plenty of sunlight during the day. Having an en-suite, a bathroom and a third toilet made getting ready in the morning very easy. Having a power assisted hot water system was a real pleasure - the last villa we had in Aiya Theckla didn't have this and the difference was noticeable. The kitchen had a good appliances which enabled us to cook most of our meals in the villa and having a dishwasher (which we have in the UK) made life very easy. Appreciated air conditioners which also had a heating function - we didn't think we'd need this but the nights can be cool at this time of year and we did use it overnight. We were looking for somewhere quiet to spend Christmas and the location of this villa suited us perfectly as most of the others were empty at the time. As it was off season we didn't expect much to be open but were pleasantly surprised to find a good value pub situated reasonably close. Our family had a comfortable and relaxing stay here and should we spend another Christmas would hope to book again. Reinhard Alders - Northamptonshire UK
