House | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 5
The house is situated at an altitude of 1.400 meters, in the small village of Prodromos, Cyprus. Prodromos is located closest to the highest peak of the Troodos mountain range, and is the village with the highest elevation on the island of Cyprus. The highest peak of Troodos, ”Hionistra”, at an altitude of almost 2.000 meters, is only a 5 km drive away from the house. Due to its location, Prodromos has a lot to offer to the holidaymakers. From cycling and mountain hiking on the Troodos mountains and forest in the summer, to fishing in the local dam in the spring and fall, to skiing in the winter. The temperatures range from 15C to 32C in the summer, to -5C to 15C in the winter.
The house is on the ground floor of a two-storey, stone-built house, at the corner of a cherry orchard. It was built in 1952, and was recently renovated with high quality modern materials, combining the old and the modern in a very harmonious way. The outside walls and the ceiling of the house are well insulated, while the inside walls showcase the original stone-built structure of the house.
The house has two bedrooms, a living room equipped with a fireplace, a dinning/hall area, a small fully-equipped kitchen, and a full bathroom. It possesses its own independently-controlled, central heating system and timer controlled hot water heaters.
The house is surrounded by a veranda on its three sides, which continues right into the cherry orchard. A tent on the veranda protects from the sun rays during the hottest days of the summer.

About this location
The Nicosia District
Troodos Mountain is the largest mountain range of Cyprus, located in the center of the island. Troodos' highest peak is Mount Olympus at 1,952 meters which also hosts 4 ski slopes. The Troodos mountain range stretches across most of the western side of Cyprus. There are many famous mountain resorts, Byzantine monasteries and churches on mountain peaks, and nestling in its valleys and picturesque mountains are villages clinging to terraced hill slopes. The area has been known since ancient times for its mines, and in the Byzantine period it became a great centre of Byzantine art, as churches and monasteries were built in the mountains, away from the threatened coastline.
At an altitude of 1400 meters, Prodromos is the village with the highest elevation in Cyprus. It is situated on the west edge of the Marathasa Valley, which is a beautiful and fertile valley in the Troodos Mountains of Cyprus deriving its name from the plant Marathos, a type of fennel which grows in the area. The area is known for its splendid cherries. The valley is about a 65 km drive from Limassol and 80 km from Nicosia. It is the highest inhabited valley on the island, home to a total of 12 villages, including Prodromos, Pedoulas, Lemythou, Kalopanayiotis and Moutoullas. It is home to Trooditissa and Kykkos monasteries.
